Let's just hope Jones and Smalling would be available and match-fit during the month of Nov-Dec where the games are scheduled to be played closed to each other. For the time being, Rio-Vida-Evans, and maybe Carrick should be enough to play there. Let's hope no more injuries after this.
For me, it is partly mind games from United to Nani. Nani asked ridiculously high wages just so Zenit would reject him eventhough United accepted the bid. It is more of a hint to Nani that he is not indispensable. Hopefully this will turn things around for Nani and he will be more focused for the remainder of the season.
Why doomed? Have you forget that we have Welbeck, Hernandez? If Kagawa is out, we still have Nani, Valencia, Anderson, Scholes. Not sure why we should be "doomed" though. It's not like the entire first team is effected.
Although I would prefer "first-choice" players like Robin and Kagawa to play, but surely you can't expect them to play every single game each season.
Time to focus for Anfield game. Nervous, but feeling wee bit confident as I think most players are already focussing on that game. Just wanted to go through with last night's game with full points rather than full-on efforts which would take too much energy. That's just MHO, maybe
More of that please Hernandez. Last season he was awful at doing those kinda stuff, and although he still messes up so far this season, his general play have been much2 better.
Yeah, Hernandez certainly shows a lot of improvement, especially on the ball skills and movements. IMHO, not yet there but if he could combine that and his already sharp off ball movement, he could be a more complete forward and player. He is looking more and more like an absolute bargain of a buy now. Imagine if he is playing for other Euro team now, he would be worth at least 20m in order to buy him I think.
"Manchester United are battling Real Madrid for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Alen Halilovic.
The 16-year-old playmaker has unsurprisingly been likened to Luka Modric, who began his career at Dinamo before moving to Spurs.
Halilovic has starred for Dinamo and Croatia's youth teams and with Juventus also linked with a move for the youngster, it shouldn't be long before he's snapped up by one of Europe's elite."
Atrocious first half, very determined second half but it was not enough in the end. It is easy to blame the players ( in this case it is almost too easy after watching the first half's performance) but IMHO, SAF's decision to include Giggs in this game has backfired. I know Giggs has past his prime but can still offer something. For me, in current form, Giggs can only be useful for "easier" opponents so to speak.
There has been signs from a few games before last night's. Terrible performances but only lucky to win them IMHO. Second half's was what more to be expected from a team like United. For me, sometimes it could be down due SAF's decisions rather than blaming the players.
Another interesting opinions regarding potential player, by our very own legend Solskjaer:
"Manchester United hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes FC Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius would be a perfict fit for his former club after claiming the highly-rated teenager can go “as far as he wants.”..."
Shame that we didn't have a fit Fletcher during that day. IMHO, if we have a three-man midfield, with fit Flether, Carrick and either Anderson/Scholes/Cleverley, that would be enough for United. Front three would be depending on the formations, but pity injuries has been very problematic for United lately. Without those injuries, United's squad can still hold its own, although for me, I would like to see one additional midfielder who is different type from the others. Maybe Tunnicliffe can provide that slot?
It is nice to watch United's midfield play short passes, one-twos but those players have to be very fit to play those type of game. Clearly can be seen that Anderson struggled mostly from 70th minute onwards. Fletcher can be excused. Nice pass by Wazza and finish by RvP. Is this the future formation, by playing Wazza in that midfield role and RvP the main striker?
Defensive injury crisis is of course very worrying now, but I don't think it is good management if SAF do panic buy just to cover up. Imagine after they all recovered, we will have more than ample personnel already there, not to include the likes of Wootton and Keane there. Vidic, Rio, Smalling, Evans, Jones, Wootton, Keane. Can't get any better than that if all fit and ready.
United just have to match other team's workrate, and if that happens, it would be easier after that. Nani didn't track the runs of the fullbacks, making the defence all haywire. If the players improve on their workrate and focus of their own tasks, should be no major headaches. I am not saying it would be easy, but it could prevent any unwanted heart attacks.
Been a while since last saw United play effective counter attacking game, like what Real did to Ajax last night. Pure brilliance I say, and great goal by ex-target Benzema as well. Maybe this weekend we could see similar style?

Midfield is alright already. Lol. Rooney, like Scholes, is slowly being moved down to the free role position like what Scholes used to play last time. Scholes also started from the top remember?
Still, it'll be interesting to watch the transfer market though apart from the defence, the others I'm not that worried though.
I guess so too. With Rooney is moved to midfield/free role slowly, the striker slot is open and with Nani is not playing well now, I guess that's why SAF rumored to be looking for another top-notch striker. RvP may have a few years left, so the likes of Chica and Welb can still learn before reaching their peak. Not to mention the potentials still waiting in Reserves.
