Sony Xperia T: H2 flagship with 4.6-inch HD display and 13MP camera

user posted image

Sony Mobile’s H2 flagship is clearly the Sony Xperia T (LT30p). Most of the marketing spend will be focused on this model and will feature in the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall. The Xperia T will come with a 4.55-inch (720 x 1280) high resolution display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8260A chipset with 1.5GHz dual-core processor and Adreno 225 GPU. Note that this is not the same as the Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 chipset found in the Xperia S.

The Xperia T will come with 16GB internal memory (2.5 GB of firmware, 2 GB of phone memory and 10.8 GB for media) but will support a microSD memory card. It has a 13MP camera capable of 1080p video and front camera capable of 720p video. Other features include NFC, MHL (the HDMI adaptor will be sold separately) and a 1850mAh capacity battery. Sony will also be selling a Xperia T TV Dock to connect the handset to a television.

The Sony Xperia T has dimensions of 129.4 x 67.3 x 9.35 mm and will weigh 139 grams. Sony says that the handset will be available globally in the next few weeks. It will come in three colours (black, silver and white).

Sony Xperia TX: Think Xperia T with S4 Snapdragon and removable battery

user posted image

Sony Mobile’s new flagship is the Xperia T (LT30p ‘Mint’), but it confirmed that in certain markets Sony will instead launch the Xperia TX (LT29i ‘Hayabusa’). This is exactly what we previously speculated given the very close proximity in terms of specifications between the two handsets.

The Xperia TX will come with a 28nm Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8260A chipset (1.5GHz dual-core with Adreno 225 GPU) found in the Xperia T.

The Xperia TX will also have a removable 1750mAh battery good for 6 hours and 40 minutes of GSM talk time. The Xperia T will have a higher capacity (1850mAh) embedded battery. In terms of size the Sony Xperia TX has dimensions of 131 x 68.6 x 8.6 mm and will weigh 127 grams. This makes it both thinner and lighter than the Xperia T which has dimensions of 129.4 x 67.3 x 9.35 mm and will weigh 139 grams.

Apart from these differences, the handset will feature the same 4.55-inch (720 x 1280) high resolution display, 16GB internal memory (2.5 GB of firmware, 2 GB of phone memory and 10.8 GB for media), microSD, micro SIM, 13MP camera, 1.3MP front camera, PlayStation Certification, NFC and MHL. The Sony Xperia TX will be available in three colours (black, pink and white) when it launches in select markets.

Why not? I know spec wise S3 better. But not all.

Power consumption, heat.

Don't feel there is heat whenever data is on? Luckily for me I'm prepaid user and I use WiFi.

Still need to test before I make my decision, speaker quality and so on

Same as iPhone? Rectangle design?

If Apple new iPhone the new design as previous, it's a biggest fail phone in term design.

Well if they go curve body? Sony sue them back hahaha..

XPERIA T bigger and non removable battery
non-Asian country.

XPERIA TX will be Asian model, thinner slightly less juice on the battery and removable.

Well all is based on the curve on xperia gx.

Japan version still a bit slightly different for international model.

T and TX i prefer TX thinner and lighter, battery not big issue for me, since it's 28nm s4 better power management.

I still curious on the speaker model they use and how fast is charge.

Current S3 charge very fast

But overall all still look similar

Update: Sony Mobile has now updated the white paper which seems to suggest it will come with a S4 Snapdragon MSM8260A chipset (the same as the Xperia T). The product page is still referring to it with S3 Snapdragon MSM8260 chipset though. Hopefully ,the latter is a mistake though.

do you ever read the whole thing but not only keyword ?
no i guess

its funny that how you attempt to use my source as your backup but you don even bother to read it .

dun care about quad core, as long as it's dual core is fast enough. what matters to me the most is the super sexy design and it's beautiful screen coz most of the time this is what most users will be facing and experiencing when using the phone.Plus music and camera, samsung and Iphone can't come close to sony tech. And also worth mentiong "IT"S A SONY" smile.gif

Myself die die also want to buy this phone, don't care what other people says, after all it's what i like not others. Been waiting for ages for this phone to arrive to Malaysia.

The Sony Xperia T and Xperia TX flagships will each get their own TV Docks. The docking stations act as a MHL to HDMI adaptor and will come with a full-sized HDMI output to connect to a television. It will also have one micro-USB port to connect an accessory.

Each docking station is a perfect fit for the respective phones and has RCP to CEC translation, which allows you to use your TV remote to control the phone (as long as your TV is HDMI-CEC compatible). The dock will, of course, also charge your phone whilst you have it connected.

what most people fails to notice is Sony is trying to optimize the programming code with their hardwares to ensure no system hangs or incompabilities. Sony might be late but they take their time make sure nothing goes wrong.that's more essential to customer than simply just rushing blindly to impress customer only later find out the coding s*cks

We are not getting the T just the TX...which sucks cause the unibody design should be more fun to play with. The plus side though is the battery is removable.

Well to gain a good position in the market they need to have US and EU support, since in Japan, the variety there is tough to beat,
I would say it is okay since as long they keep producing phone like Xperia T in future,
they already release 2 flagship worth smartphone
just that they don't go all out
example : Xperia Ion
no matter how you look at it,if the specs just would be a little better
it is a smexy enough to become flagship phone

refer here as comparison
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPho...8&idPhone2=4899

2012 is a year where they attack the market once again aggressively after smartphone era boom,

the only thing is their flagship phones are cheaper than other maufacturer
this is because they use outdated processors
but they will easily attract users who didnt know
because some see dual core they will buy but didnt know the dual core is from a generation before sweat.gif sweat.gif

maybe they will be outdated again when other companies launch with newer snapdragon s4 pro/ chips based on cortex A15

but still sony will be releasing good looking devices with top notch hardware without top notch processors for asian markets thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
this will attract more customers still because their devices are still cheap compared to samsung/htc/lg thumbup.gif

You might reconsider if you choose to purchase Galaxy S3 or HTC One X instead of Sony Xperia TX.
Latest Benchmark results show Xperia T / TX blow their competitors away. Seems impressive.

well, IMHO, the xperia T/TX is the next flagship model from sony to replace the xperia S... so, i think sony will support in terms of software update (JB very likely i think).

and in technlogy wise, it's not always the numbers that counts... single core, dual core, quad core, 1.2GHz, 1.5GHz, 1.7GHz,... new technology will incorpoate new design and features... so, in this case of the dual core S4 krait processor used, all benchmark testing already showed it outperforms the quad core phone (Galaxy S3 and One X).

China isn’t only the first country to get hold of the Sony Xperia SL (LT26ii), it can now add the much anticipated Xperia TX to that list too. The handset is now available to order via the Sony Style China website in all three colours (black, white and pink), where it is available for RMB 4,298 (£425, €537, $677).

The Sony Xperia TX and Xperia T will be mutually exclusive in terms of retail availability. For example, most of Europe will get the Xperia T, whilst many Asian markets will get the Xperia TX instead. Expect the handset(s) to make an appearance in most countries towards the end of the month.

OTA = Other the air.
ICS does not come with OTA.
You need either Sony PC Companion or Update Service to do that.
Connect your phone to computer via USB.
For PC Companion :
1) Launch PC Companion, it will search for update automatically and notify you if new update is available.

For Update Service :
1) Launch Update Service.
2) Agree with the agreement.
3) Choose your phone.
4) Follow the on screen instruction.
5) It will provide 2 options if update is available, 1 is update, 1 is update + reset.

Expect your phone to run slower on ICS. Just root it (guide) after updating then you can start installing custom ICS ROM which is proven smoother than stock ICS ROM.

that's a good price if it's true, and hopefully our local telco offer even more affordable packages with the phone...

I think Sony should launch it b4 the new bond movie is released. But if Sony just wanted to target iphone5, then it'll be quite some time as iphone5 won't be released so soon in msia

Added on September 15, 2012, 3:42 pmAnyone knows if the camera at the back is protruding out like the HTC one x? If yes the a casing is a must have in order to protect the camera.

So... considering the following price...
china TX ~2100
taiwan TX~1933
galaxy s3 ~2199 (m'sia RRP)
one x ~2099 (m'sia RRP)

maybe the TX will be priced at around RM1899-1999

Guess its best to play the "waiting game" first and wait for the bunch to come out first before getting Acro S and what not ? Wonder currently which Sony phones have the best built quality ? Acro S and even Xperia Go flap's look fragile and unreliable no ?

MYR2.1k........unlikely to be RRP. For that price can buy S3 liao, hahahaha......i'd say 1.6-1.8k RRP but even at 1.8k its on the high side already......HTC One X area.....

1.6 to 1.8k is really a good price if that is true! But if u look at the benchmarks (link below), out performs the one X...

Unfortunately i read somewhere that the Xperia T flap is also flimpsy..but then again..not like u're going to open and close every single hour/ minute right? If only Sony changes its mind to bring in the T instead....hot swappable SD Card...

More benchmarks for you guys to feast ur eyes on:

Engadget reviews tend to be over bias to Apple products.

I would wait for GSMArena's review... Phonearena's review is up.

don't think so as m'sia will be getting the TX model, not T.

and based on some of the negative feedback on the reviews on xperia T thus far, abit heavy, non-removable battery and all buttong cramp on the right side,.. i think the TX will be a better phone since the TX do not have these issues.

Cause those phone come with protection, adding extra cosmetic will make it heavy by few gram (yes u don't mind but some one will), plus that is air tight, extra rubber and so on, u possible need to spend 5-10 minute to open de flip . . .

The James Bond's goodies leaked out already. Can download here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?j90kx8dkbfxaf1e

The zip file has three 007 wallpapers that will work on any Android phone with 720 x 1280 screen resolution. There is also a 007 ringtone and snazzy notification.

I'm using it with my XPS. biggrin.gif

MYR2.1k........unlikely to be RRP. For that price can buy S3 liao, hahahaha......i'd say 1.6-1.8k RRP but even at 1.8k its on the high side already......HTC One X area.....

I guess its best to play the "waiting game" first and wait for the bunch to come out first before getting Acro S and what not ? Wonder currently which Sony phones have the best built quality atm ? Acro S and even Xperia Go flap's look fragile and unreliable no ?

you wrong there on Xperia Go's flap,
its very durable and still easy to open and put back.

with long nail, imagine using a shovel method, while short nail will have to open it like a softdrink can.

Although T does not have removable battery, key things that im considering over the TX:

1. Slimmer (though only by a slight margin)

2. Hot swap MMC (the TX MMC is located under the hood and cannot be accessed without pulling out the battery).

3. Metal/ rugged furnish at the back plate (though rumors say that its an exclusive on the bond special edition).

Hope that clarifies your queries.

Logically speaking, there should not be any fundamental difference between the T and TX in terms of both hardware and software (please correct me if i am wrong). The only difference would be whether the battery is removable or not.

Thus, if there is a root method, boot unlocker, or Custom ROM, logically speaking, it should be cross compatible between both models.

Each region of the world receives either the T or the TX, based on whatever logic Sony uses to decide these things. The recent reviews are from European and maybe US sites, both of which only receive the T variant.

PS. For reference, Malaysia is slated to receive the TX.

Hi. Hope anyone can answer me. I'm just curious. Whenever I see blog from soyacincau, or many other blogs, even the Lowyat website front page, they will say "Sony has confirmed this, Sony Malaysia has confirmed that", I am curious to know where did sony Sony actually says it? I'm not doubting or anything, I just want to know the primary source. Is it the inside information for the retailers that were not announced publicly, or is it anywhere in the official website (which I can't seem to find), etc.

Example, the announcement of Xperia T, the primary source was from Berlin IFA 2012, but when it comes to what model will be released in Malaysia, where can I find the primary source?

thanks.

No the Exmor RS sensors will only be available in the next range of Xperia phones in early 2013.

But i think the Xperia V may have the Exmor RS sensor.

IMHO, there are two sources where information like this can be obtained. (1) is tru insider information of people working in Sony Mobile Malaysia Division. Reason being they would probably have product training and an overview of what products will be launching, which product to Malaysia and its ETA. The second source would probably from official press releases by Sony Malaysia. However, given that Sony Malaysia have not issued any press release on the models, i would probably think that the source would be from (1).

i think sony is trying to catch up on the smartphone market by doing a little too much this year. many models are released this year, with more or less the same spec... there are already 2 flagship models released this year, xperia s and xperia ion. the xperia t/tx will be their 3rd flagship model this year, which if compared side by side, does not differ that much from xperia ion (spec wise)... if sony release models too soon, i think it will be like competing with their own models rather than compete with other manufacturer.

just my 2 cents

well, for me, software update is not really a big deal as long as the manufacturer still release and support them. this is the new flagship model for sony and i am quite confident there will be JB update. Also, using ICS now and updating it to JB will often gives us a feeling of having a new phone to experience (as i have recently updated my GB to ICS, it really feels like a new phone)

my concern is the hardware though. by the time it release (god knows when), the spec might really looks dated...

The Xperia V will use MSM8960 while Xperia T/TX will use MSM9260A... i wonder what's the main difference...

Well, the word "soon" is a very subjective words to be use. can be few days, few weeks or even few months...

Sony said it will be launch "soon" about a month ago during IFA. but till now, i think only china and taiwan are launched (for TX)

I think T/TX was announced about a month ago. we still dun hv availability date. in this time and age, smartphone competition is so fierce, a new flagship get overrun by competition in about 3 month. T and TX is already losing a month sales.

Sony should get its act right with product announcement. perception is important. using dual core and already a month waiting is not a good start for Sony.

much like Motorola and Nokia, Sony is another old world phone company trying to catch up and still catching up.

There are already rumours about out of box jelly bean xperia for next year. (xperia odin). Seriously what's up with Sony delaying all their phones. It doesn't do them any good by making ppl wait too long. Xperia TX is out in China now why are they still holding it from the rest of the world?

CLOVE got more stock in last Thursday and it all finished within the day. They now have the model on order, so you can put in your order and they should keep it in the system and ship it when they get stock.

Unlocked Mobiles and Expansys.com are alternatives that is slightly more expensive, but they also have the phone on an "Order now and we will charge you when it's available for shipping" status.

In the, what, 4 months since the S3 was released in Malaysia, the price has dropped from RM 2,199 to RM 1,699 now.

That's about 25% of the phone's original recommended retail price.

And it's still dropping.

Still not enough ah?

Sigh... no matter how many cores they have, with a low RAM your phone will still hang/lags... Just like S3... There have been tons of complains.. what i'm saying here is non rooted phones only..
*
yeah, true that the manufacturer should find out what is the performance bottleneck of each phone instead of just increasing the cores / clockspeed...

aih... by the time sony release this phone, i think i should seriously consider waiting for LTE phone instead...

Now this is interesting. Not really a fan of 5" phone and above but this news/rumors indeed interesting. It claimed to hv 1080p reso, s4 krait quad core proc n 2gb ram. Kinda mighty enough. But hope it come with the latest android version. Cant say jelly bean anymore cos rumor 4.2 update wil b release soon too.

Actually im kinda tired with phone this day. Not that I wanna chase technology n keep buying new phone everytime but the problem is, other than nexus phone, the update is really slow. Nexus phone in the hand limited to certain brand, spec etc. Really rclxub.gif

i concur... it seems like that is the best time to launch the phone... in terms of marketing strategy. both the movie and the phone will help promote each other...

If sony m'sia failed to launch this phone by the time skyfall start showing... i dunno what are the people in sony m'sia is thinking...

sony m'sia already mentioned we will be getting the TX model. actually, each country will only get either one of the model (T or TX, not both). So, basically in m'sia, the TX is consider the bond phone. Even if you look at some TX unboxing videos, the TX also comes preloaded with bond wallpaper, tones,... etc.

front part more unique, not just common flat front. but T's volume rocker button is a disaster for me. it's actually located at lower part, which made it very inconvinient for quick adjust.

i agree... T looks better than TX, size and design wise also slightly better. i'm just not satisfied with the position of the power and volume rocker, and of course the non-removable battery

but anyway, since T is not released here, we can forget about it. since TX is more user-friendly in terms of the buttons layout, i think it is acceptable if it is slightly less appealing than the T.

First impressions of the Xperia TX, based on about two and a half days of use.

What's in the box
- The phone;
- A battery;
- In-ear earphones with spare earbuds;
- compact 3-pin charger (The earth pin can be pushed downwards to make the charger easier to bring around);
- Micro-USB cable;
- Four quickstart manuals. Four of them.

Initial setup

Pretty easy.

Put battery, microSD card and your micro-SIM in phone. How to open the battery door is not very intuitive, but the door comes off with little force once you figure it out the right place to hold the phone and pull. It won't come off unless you really want it to.

Physical design

The 13 MP camera in the back protrudes out of the body a little bit. Not as much as the HTC One series, but a bit more than the S III. So if you put the TX on its back on a table, the phone will rest on the camera lens. There is a small chrome ring around the glass, so there's some protection from scratching, but I would recommend a case or similar just to be sure.

The front of the phone looks completely blank when the screen is off. There are no hardware face buttons for the Home, Back and Recent Apps keys. because the TX uses software keys that are rendered on screen. To people who are not used to them, it needs some getting used to, but it works quite well.

Unlike the Xperia T (according to people who have got it on XDA), the TX doesn't come with any screen protectnig film, and there is no raised bezel to protect the glass. It is a bad idea to put the phone face down because the screen would touch the table, and it's highly recommended that you make sure any case you have has a raised bezel to prevent this.

Around the sides of the phone are the hardware keys, the microUSB port and the earphones socket. As you all already know, the TX has its power key on the left side of the phone near the top, while the volume key is on the right near the top. The TX also has a hardware camera button on the right near the bottom. The arrangement needs a bit of getting used to, but it works. The microUSB port is on the right near the volume keys, so plugging in the phone is somewhat awkward, especially if you have the phone on a car holder or if you're watching video while charging.

Overall, the phone's build quality is good. It fits fairly easily into my hand despite the size. Coming from a HTC Desire Z and having held both my wife's gigantomongous Galaxy Note as well as Galaxy S IIIs, I was worried that I would find it uncomfortable and difficult to use. To my pleasant surprise, it was perfectly possible for me to reach the top right corner with my left thumb.

The phone feels quite light, but not as super-light as the S III. It makes it feel like I actually have something substantial in my hand, but then I'm used to my heavy Desire Z so people coming from the light and thin phones of the past year or so may disagree that the TX weighs just right.

Software

The TX runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 right out of the box. Sony's Timescape skin is very close to how ICS is supposed to look like and for the first time I really don't mind using non-Vanilla Android (I used CM9 on my old phone).

Out of the box, the phone is set up with Simplified Chinese as its default language. Non-Chinese speakers, don't panic, because the first screen you find when you start up will allow you to change a different language. However, the default keyboard will still be a Chinese QWERTY keyboard which is, unfortunately, idiotically designed. It kept swapping basic punctuation for smiley keys and was just confusing to use.

Fortunately, you can also change keyboards to a more standard by going into the Android settings. The English language keyboard is pretty close to the stock Android keyboard and supports Swype-style gestures. It can also be customized a little so that you add things like dedicated smiley buttons or Google Search keys if you like them.

Out of the box, the TX has a lot of redundant software installed. For example, apart from the standard Google Play, Sony has decided that you would also like a dedicated Sony marketplace app called Sony Select, and something called PlayNow which is a marketplace that sells games and media approved by Sony. Seriously, Sony, why?

Camera is good and works well under sunlight and in normal lighting conditions. It's a bit noisy at 13MP in low-light or dark conditions. Also, teh 16:9 aspect ratio 13MP pics are big, but you only have the options of 13 MP, 10 MP (4:3 aspect ratio), or 2MP (both 16:9 and 4:3). I really wish Sony had given an option for 5MP and 8MP, or maybe use the same trick the Nokia 808's 42+ MP camera uses for high-quality zoomed pics.

Performance

I don't play much games on my phone and the ones that I do play are relatively low-requirement, so I can't reasonably comment on how smooth it would play Gears of Halo: Medal of Combat. However, the phone does run smoothly for all intents and purposes, and I really don't feel like I've missed anything going for a dual-core Krait instead of a quad-core Exynos.

The screen itself is a little reflective so there is a bit of glare under the sun, but it's very very readable even under direct sunlight. However, if you tilt the screen a lot, colours become a little washed out. In contrast, the SLCD on my Desire Z was still colour-accurate and readable even if you're looking at the screen from like 70 degrees away from perpendicular.

Still, it's not a major problem: the screen is still pretty legible if you try to look up a calendar while the phone is on your table, except that everything will look as if someone put a strip of translucent white plastic over everything.

I haven't pushed the phone to its limit when playing videos and I'm not sure that the built-in player supports subtitled MKV. However, the 480p AVIs I've played look pretty good with sound that is very clear, even in loud areas like food courts.

GPS is ridiculously fast. I turned it on and got a lockon within 5 seconds, and this is in my car that has a tint that's known to affect GPS signals.

Battery life is... semi-problematic. I can get 16 hours out of it with about 2 hours of 480p video, intermittent e-book reading, an hour of web surfing, about 20 minutes of calls and several SMSes. This is all with mobile data and WiFi on, switching in between as necessary.

The phone also suffers from a known issue with stock Sony Android ICS ROMs: ever since the Xperia S, people have been complaining of standard Sony processes that seem to keep the phone awake a lot. People with power issues will want to look up information regarding a process called com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup and maybe disable it.

That's all I have for now. I'm still fiddling with the phone and trying to make it last longer. I might reset it to factory settings over the weekend and redo my setup properly, now that I know where everything is supposed to be. In general, I'm happy with the phone (apart from the pains of getting used to a software keyboard) and I think that it's a good buy.

This phone (now for T, not sure TX) will have better CM support from its developers than current Samsung phones.
The project is going well, and I see the future of CM. biggrin.gif

From the Internets. Specifically, Expansys.my. Better wait for the local set to come out because I don't think it will cost more than RM 1,800.

But I could be wrong.

just went to 1U to test xperia J. to my surprise, it is indeed super smooth for a single core processor phone. i don't feel any lag at all. i then tested the xperia P as well. again to my surprise, it was so obvious that the J is so much smoother than the P... maybe it's the software part that the J outperform the P???

i am really amazed with the J... if sony is able to produce the xperia J with such performance with a single core processor... i can't wait to get my hands on the TX

well, i remember reading some review saying the same thing about the camera on TX as well... abviously, the quality of th epicture is not solely depends on the number of pixels alone. alot of other factors (like the lens and image processor) will affect the quality of the picture

u do know that the TX is using exmor R sensor for their camera right? exmor R is used in Sony own DSLR series. u should roughly get the idea how good that sensor is....

recently alot of new phones announced... htc one x+, google nexus4, asus padfone2, lg optimus G,... all with better spec than sony's xperia... makes me confused whether to get this TX or not... rclxub.gif

but i can say, design wise, i like the TX the most.

Rooting the TX

This is based on Bina4ry's Xperia unrooting script in this post on XDA Developers, but there were a few steps missing that took me some time to figure out.

Note: This method works with firmware 7.0.A.1.307, which is what my TX came with. There is a newer firmware out (.3.195) and at the time of writing Bin4ry's script does not work with it. If your TX came with .3.195, you will need to unlock your TX's bootloader and use one of the other methods. Note, however, that unlocking your bootloader means you will lose the Sony DRM keys on your TX forever, and that may break functionality with some Sony apps/products/services.

Steps:

1) Buy a Sony Xperia TX.

2) Download Bin4ry's Xperia unrooting script here. Always download the latest one. Unzip it to a convenient folder of your choice.

3) Make sure your TX is not plugged in to your computer.

4) Download Sony's PC Companion from here and install it. Wait until the installation is complete and don't forget to reboot if the program tells you to.

5) Make sure PC Companion is on, and then plug in your TX. If you haven't plugged your TX in before, Windows will prompt you to search/install drivers for your phone; cancel it, because we want PC Companion to install those drivers for you. If you have, just let PC Companion do its thing.

6) Go to the folder where you unzipped Bin4ry's script to and click RunMe.bat

7) Choose option 1) Normal. The script should detect your TX automatically and just do its thing. Your phone will reboot once or twice during this process. Don't bother it.

8) Enjoy your rooted TX.

Troubleshooting

*The script is stuck waiting for my phone!*

The drivers for your TX have not been installed correctly. Make sure you've installed PC Companion. Failing that, uninstall PC Companion and try to uninstall the drivers for your TX, and then follow my guide from step 3.

*Something else is wrong*

Refer to ]Bin4ry's XDA thread. Chances are the answer to your problems is somewhere in the comments. Sometimes it's not; Bin4ry assumes you've installed PC Companion, for example, and it took me a while to figure out that this is my problem. In such cases, register on XDA and ask.

I'm not a shutterbug, but the camera quality is quite good. Like I said in my review, there are some mistakes that Sony made (forcing you to choose between high-res and huge 13MP/10MP pics or med/low res 2MP shots only) and the image quality when zoomed in is not as good as, say, the Nokia with the 40+ MP camera, but it's fairly good for a phone camera.

I don't know. If it helps, on my TX, if you turn the screen off and look at it just right, you can see a semi-clear grid of hexagons. I think these are the capacitative sensor wires, so maybe Sony is using a thin screen with less gap between the top of the screen and the wires than usual?

Also, don't worry: the pattern I'm talking about is invisible if the screen is on, so it doesn't interfere with usage.

For those who edi bought tx, do you notice the xperia words lights up when the screen is on? Does it distract you when you're watching video in dark room, and the bright xperia word is there to steal your attention from the video?

It's not distracting. It's just bright enough to be visible, but it doesn't attract your attention when you're watching something or doing something on the screen.

The xperia TX mostly will start selling at the end of december...
This is the answer i got from sonymobile:
"In response to your query we would like to inform you that with regards to this matter, kindly note that the Xperia TX's tentative date of release will be sometime towards the end of the year. And since the Xperia J is already in the market, the Xperia TX will be expected to be out anytime afterwards."

how's the haptic feedback? does it feels like u're pressing the real button or close to it, or is it annoying?
I have xperia mini pro and the vibration is just plain too strong, and worst of all, the dialpad vibrates AFTER you release your finger from the screen and let your palm feels the vibration instead. Does this happen in TX?

It's noticeable but not strong, and it happens more or less when you press the on-screen buttons. The kind of scenario you talk about with you Mini Pro hasn't happened to me.

In terms of design, the T has all the hardware buttons (power, volume/zoom, camera) on the right side of the phone, and the microUSB port on the left side somewhere. It also has that sloping chin at the bottom and has a built-in battery. Otherwise, it's basically the same physically.

Not sure yet whether to get the T/TX to replace my XPS. But, just incase, for new T/TX owners who wants to take over the thread, just inform me. I'll close this one, and you guyz can maintain new thread.

Not really. It's a good phone, but from the reviews, it's not much an upgrade if you already have XPS. So, most probably I'll wait for 2013 Xperia series.

Based on the the benchmark score here, the T/TX is a steep improvement over the Xperia SL which is equivalent to Xperia S. I am going to upgrade my Arc afterall unless it comes in December. doh.gif

Crazy. If my phone die now I will rather get TX ap than to wait for the ori to come out. Getting SL or ion because want ori is simply unacceptable. SL/Ion is too slow for that price ha

Tbh, right now imo getting ori or ap really no difference ever since the XPS yellow tint case. Cause even if warranty is superb it still deterred me from buying lol. new phones usually has no problems unless it is a common issue or its mistreated or drop a lot haha

latest review for TX (most review we've read is on T thus far)

http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/11/05/xp...isnt-very-good/

i think what this reviwer said is quite true (even though i do not have the phone yet).

it's not a bad phone, but it's not quite a very good phone either. there are definitely alot more better phone in the market (which i think is true, especially in m'sia with the long delay. by the time it's launched, the market will be flooded with quad core 2gb ram phones...)
what it truely wins is the design (which i myself love it so much too)
the build quality is not up to the standard of a flagship/premium phone (if it is the same quality as the J, then i too may be a lottle disappointed)

but then, 1 man's meat is another's poison... just sharing my tots.

Im not sure bout androidpolice review as i dun follow them regularly howeva i blive they arent bias.. the hv a point in tge review.. i really wonder why sony release tx with such inferior build quality according to the review. It is like proton where the international spec is far superior than local. I really concern bout this.. i really love sony, it is almost impossible for me to even consider to get from other brand but lookin at this situation, i felt betray.. im thinking of getting xperia t as my arc replacement but t isnt available international, i love xperia t design more than tx, but there r things i like out wat tx hav offered suc as removeable battery n iinm sd expansion. N from the :review said that t build is more solid compared to a cheap feel plastic on tx.

I really wish sony wil make a beutiful design phone with an up to date spec and os. A quad a15,2gb ram, sd expansion n latest android os. Samsung manage those thing.. i envy them.. myb i wil sacrifice my pride by buying other brand until sony release something astonishing if they create any.. i think i pass again this tym.. lastymit was xperia s.. another product from sony that i felt kinda disappointed is xperia tablet s, i takes foreva to launch it here n also wit that manufacturing defect that cause more delay for its release.. the xperia tablet hav a superb spec but only if they launched it as their first tablet. Right now i think i wait for what sony haa to offer nex year. I hope it wil makes me happy. I stil hav faith in them n i believe they wil make a come back.. all they need a good marketing, strategy n competitive pricing.. im sure if they succed with these 3 elements, they wil once again reclaim their throne. Sony make.believe

+1. bad marketing strategy by sony malaysia on the release date of TX... i am sure alot of people who have been waiting for its launch are quite disappointed and frustrated, and the hype for getting the phone have subsided alot.

well, i'll still keep my options open, for now. if by the time of TX launch and i still haven't get any new phone yet, i'll get myself some hands on experience on this one b4 deciding.

i think the marketing staff in sony malaysia is either
1. sleeping
2. thinks sony is the only smartphone supplier in m'sia
3. thinks that m'sia consumer is so stupid that we do not know a single thing about phone spec

hence, they will only launch a 2012 model in 2013... and 2013 model in 2014...

Yup indeed, thats wat im talking about, 2012 model wil be release in the 2014..n iworried that when sony announce their quad phone, the phone wil only b relese in 2014.

Sony mobile shud change their ceo imo, we want sum1 who able to keep up wit the current tech pace. Sony ned to release a phone/tablet that hav the latest spec at tym of release. Not after everyone else hav move to a nex best thing. Other phone/tablet already hv a quad,2 gb ram, a higher reso display(for tablet).

Actually Sony mobile division are already at a lost. They will continue to do so because SONY has no real flagship in Malaysia. Plus it took them forever to release the T in Europe where majority users are Android.

i think this is another reason too. sony malaysia just launched acro s, ion and SL not too long ago. that's their problem. they always launch their product too late where in the new age of technology, spec advances and changes very very fast. sony gonna lose out eventually, releasing outdated product, if they keep this pace...

Actually Sony mobile division are already at a lost. They will continue to do so because SONY has no real flagship in Malaysia. Plus it took them forever to release the T in Europe where majority users are Android.

thats what the cool thing about the tx. if viewing photos, apps, videos, and games the on screen buttons will disappear! it is 4.6" screen but only slightly longer than the Arc. Imagine that!

Oh really? Then how would you manage the apps that require the buttons when it already disappear? How about browsing and the like?

Tbh I actually satisfied with the screen.. Just want the onscreen buttons can be manual set to auto-hide when browsing like windows auto-hide taskbar.. smile.gif

you can tap the area/volume key and then it will reveal three small transparent buttons....like the ones u see in Xperia S. Tap again and the buttons will fully appear. the menu buttons will always be on your right. about browsing i am not sure yet havent got the chance to test the phone

maybe it's time to forget about this T/TX in ms'ia. by the time it's released in m'sia, we are better off going for the next xperia

but then again... by the time sony announced this next xperia, samsung have already launched GS4...

This is the slowest already. It is already more than 3 months since launch plus 2 months and counting behind China. The thing I puzzled is SG is also not getting it yet. They should not have release the SL. dafuq for? Digi and Maxis has already pulled out the phone.... imma just waiting until they put TX on their fb cover.

Why Walkman sucks? But I personally think that Walkman player is one of the bests among other droids. It has its native equalizer and can play FLAC. Not many phones can do these.

Lol. I didn't say it sucks.

In fact, when compared to other stock players, Walkman is the best. The well-received Samsung's player doesn't come with equalizer either.

its is suck in..
let say i have 100 songs imported
i create new list with and want to select 90 of them
there is no button "select all"
so i have to tick 90 of them and then start import

Added on November 19, 2012, 3:36 pmand while browsing the songs.. actually i just wan to keep selecting random songs and play it for like 3 sec (u know we do that sometimes),
but each time i select a song, it brings me back to the player interfaces..
while other player (like kugou) has much more contnvinient user interface
i dont use kugou beause it simply cant import local song to the player

sony hidden the function u like, i also take time to explore it.
from now playing, press the album art (album picture)
down there will come out "view playing que"

lets say 100 new songs, it will appear in playlist-newly added.
u play any one of them, view que, save list, then remove the 10 from 100.

view que also can do the 3sec thing that we all do biggrin.gif
i like it best for download music album art (sony self own Sony BMG music company) & sense me function.

happy walkman-ing

then should be ok. i bought a couple of fake batteries before. those without sticker can't last more than 10 recharge even when there is a water detection sticker on it. your battery needs break in I think.

btw, is your phone imei at box same with phone?

sony still not launch that phones bcause as u can see..

xperia s/sl and ion still in market..

and the price is 1.2k - 1.4k

if they launch that phone..maybe will 16xx..

and surely ppl will not buy s/sl and ion because of T/TX/V

i think u already now i wait sony xperia TX since early..

but i give up and just get a ion.. and keep using this phone until sony produce quad proc..  brows.gif  brows.gif

hehehe just my 2cent  laugh.gif

i think for sony camera u need to gently tap and hold on the shutter let the its autofocus lens do its thing. once focused d, it should got some beep sound or whatever to inform u already focus to the best setting, then hit the shutter button.

very nice phone, tried it side by side the SGS3 with JB most of the user interface and responsiveness is on par with it, certain function even faster even though it is only ICS.

Camera is a bit disappointing in low light condition, my 4S performs better.

overall it is a good buy.

TX, should be the same as T, since all internal hardware is the same. Didn't manage to compare to compare with S3 camera.

I believe it is similar to S3 or slightly worse. since 4S camera is generally better than s3 (except for flash).
