Alright, I shall follow what shuangping did, and just cancel the debit card.

I recently opened the JustOne Personal Account. So, closing the account is out of question for me, as the fee for the closure for account opened less than 3 months will be incurred.

1) Is it possible to cancel the debit card by calling SCB Customer Service? Or, do I have to go to SCB branch to do it?

2) After cancelling the debit card, my access to SCB online website, free online IBG and free online IBFT are still maintained as usual, right?

Thanks for the advice.

The announcement is SC Malaysia main web page (https://www.sc.com/global/av/my-just-one-pe...otification.pdf).

Annoucement?

Just switch to their normal SA. Still free IBG and IBFT

They don't have any other type of normal savings account on sale for the time being. Now I sort of regret closing my e$aver account that still comes with free debit MasterCard with unlimited ATM cash withdrawals.

I firmly believe the officer who told you this is wrong as basic savings account is a BNM regulated account and every banks in Malaysia must offer this type of savings account with a free ATM/debit card.

Anyway, I'm glad to learn that it is possible to cancel the debit card without closing the account.

By the way, the debit card for JustOne Preffered and JustOne Priority account will remain annual fee free. I have a written confirmation about this from their HQ.

It makes me wondering whether I should open a Basic Saving Account in SCB, instead of JustOne Personal Account. After all, free IBFT is also available for Basic Saving Account.

As MilesAndMore mentioned, Basic Saving Account is regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia, and it must have a ATM / debit card, with no annual fee. So, SCB cannot simply impose ridiculous rules and fees on Basic Saving Account.

But, JustOne Personal Account is a SCB product. So, SCB has the right to impose ridiculous rules and expensive fees, and we customers have to accept it, against our will. mad.gif bangwall.gif

You can try to open a Basic Savings Account so that you'll still have ATM access in case you need it in the future. And at the same time to cancel your JustOne debit card so you won't be charged any annual fee. Do let us know if you manage to open a Basic Savings Account with them.

As mentioned earlier by other lyn member, all SCB savings account have free IBG and IBFT. I am looking for a saving account for free IBG & IBFT, online banking and only e statement only without the need for cash withdrawal or debit card etc. I am also not interested if there is annual fee or debit card fee for the account.

Looking at the types of savings account, looks like the following would meet my needs, but i have questions on the following:

1) e$aver
a) No minimum deposit to open
b) No service fee
c) interest rate of 0.25% p.a. on all balances
*No other info on what is the required deposit monthly to be maintained in order not to get charged

2) JustOne Savings Account
*Thanks to the recent update, there is debit card annual fee of RM8, guess this account is out.
*According to the fee & charges (https://www.sc.com/my/cb/fees_and_charges.pdf) pg17, section k) Fees & Minimum Number of Transactions - JustOne Savings Account
No Debit / ATM Card. If no debit/ATM card, why would there be charges? Unless SC is talking about people who hold this account and apply for debit card.

3) Young Savers Account
a) RM1 of minimum deposit to open
b) Free eStatement subscription
c) Free Online Banking
d) No ATM/ Debit Card. Only one cash / transfer withdrawal is allowed at
least one month from the last withdrawal - presume not subject to "fees & minimum number of transactions"?
e) interest rate of 2.7% p.a. up till RM50,000
*No other info on what is the required deposit monthly to be maintained in order not to get charged.
*Why not getting this account since the interest is high? Could not find what is the eligibility to open this account on the website

Appreciate members' feedback on the suitable account for me to open with SC to enjoy free IBG/IBFT. Thanks in advance

e$aver account is no longer on sale as far as I know. Those still have this account can continue to use it. The original interest rate for this account back in year 2007 was 2.50% with 8% cash back on petrol purchases with the e$aver debit MasterCard. Now I really regret closing this account a few years back.

Standard Chartered Bank has this habit of coming with a really good product to lure people into applying it and then slowly taking away almost everything from you. This can be clearly seen with the e$aver account, then the JustOne Titanium Credit Card and now this JustOne Personal/Preferred/Priority account.

May be you can first complain to SCB. If they insist there is debit card annual fee for this type of account, you can escalate this case to BNM.

I've still been using my Justone account, the free meps withdrawal is very useful to me. Today i noticed 3 transactions - "Reversal of Bonus Interest". I called CS and apparently SC has overpaid interest by 1% to all customers and is executing a clawback. Please check your accounts folks.
