QUOTE(fubs @ Sep 20 2012, 07:43 AM) So I was wondering, with the release of D600, seems like lots of DX users are planning to upgrade to FX. But looking at the upgrade costs (around rm8k for D600 and one FX lens), probably it's better to stay with DX and buy a 70-200mm instead. Luckily i have 35 F2D, 50 and 80200 two touch standby so the upgrade to FX wont be too bad Is a body change (DX to FX) marginally better than a 70-200mm on DX? :\ |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Sep 20 2012, 11:13 AM) I'm wondering if the D600 grip style is similar to D7000, or uses the newer design like the D800? D600 uses the new D800 style. Priced at RM900+/-Side note, MB-D12 what's the market price like ah? I kept hearing 'expensive'... I checked SSK.com, RM1288 >_< so what's the street price like? If you shoot tele more (like me) a DX body are more worth it for the 1.5x crop. If on FX body, you did better off with a 1.4x TC on the 70-200. Some people doesnt mind to use DX lenses on FX body since the FX body are like having 2 bodies in one. I used my 18-70mm on D4 for its light weight compared to the 28-70Is a body change (DX to FX) marginally better than a 70-200mm on DX? :\ Getting FX lenses ain't expensive if you know which older lens to compensate which new ones. That is how I switch to FF, by getting old lenses This post has been edited by onscreen: Sep 20 2012, 12:19 PM |

QUOTE(KTCY @ Sep 20 2012, 08:52 AM) Was looking at the price of a decent (24-70) zoom lens QUOTE(Andy214 @ Sep 20 2012, 09:29 AM) Depends what are you using the camera for. If for hobby, the depend if you have the $$ and willing to spend. Looking at medium format viewfinder wowed me... is there a significant difference from DX > FX viewfinder? But then again, even so, i don't think it's justifiable to spend rm8k~ D600 is Full Frame Sensor, obviously there will be a lot of difference overall. Again, depends what are you using the camera for? what do you shoot? do you need it? Got $$? Willing to spend? Upgrading to FX you might want to get an FX lens to fully utilize the focal length and MP (FX lens means there's more $$ involved aside from the body itself); of course, you can still use the DX mode and make do, all depends on you. One more thing, put your eye to the viewfinder on a FX body, you will see something different already. Willing to spend? Yes. But on what... that's the question QUOTE(onscreen @ Sep 20 2012, 12:13 PM) D600 uses the new D800 style. Priced at RM900+/- Sounds good. DX lenses on FX should save a lot of money. How much does a 28-70 (2.8?) costs?Added on September 20, 2012, 12:19 pm It boils down to application. If you shoot tele more (like me) a DX body are more worth it for the 1.5x crop. But then again, even so, i don't think it's justifiable to spend rm8k~ Of course, that's just one of it. The most significant difference is of course the result from the sensor. Willing to spend? Yes. But on what... that's the question As mentioned, it depends what do you use the camera for, etc. If it's just for hobby, does the person really need a Full Frame DSLR, it depend on the decision of the person and whether it's worth to spend the amount of money on it. It's just as how some would upgrade from D7000 to D700; Of course, D700 have other features like more AF points and so on. It really depends what you're looking for. DXO mark already produce result for D600 and currently it place third after both the D800. QUOTE(fubs @ Sep 20 2012, 03:54 PM) Sounds good. DX lenses on FX should save a lot of money. How much does a 28-70 (2.8?) costs? This is usually the dilemma for people to upgrade from DX to FX as the lenses is another issue (more for Canon users). Again, it also depend what you shoot and what's your lens preference. For those who uses the standard fast zoom, that would mean the need to get the 24-70mm f/2.8 which can cost almost another D600 body, unless you got for the kits lens bundled with D600.Guess this is a body vs lens dilemma I think i'll take my time to upgrade to FX |
