Is it similiar to NIOSH OGSP?

I consider you just been sarcastic on this. If not, OSP = Offshore Safety Passport/ SmartCard.

And I believe you need to have a sponsor (I dont know how they define the person as a sponsor) and the application is online through your company.
If i'm not mistaken....

I have never worked with petronas directly so i am not familiar with their requirements in regards to the OSP. Hence the question.

Regarding the OSP, read more here: http://goo.gl/648y2

And Stefanov what do you mean when you say salary barely make it? If you earn RM24K per month but paying 2x 2.5mil houses, 2x BMW M5 of course you 'barely make it'.

It's funny when those freelance wireline field engineers, or underwater inspection controllers, or saturation divers said by the end of the month, they said 'barely make it'.

I mean, those freakin' saturation divers earn more than 2000USD per day. F!

NIOSH OGSP is required for onshore facilities. Last time it was called NIOSH but since there is a specific NIOSH for TNB, maybe that's the reason they changed it to NIOSH OGSP. Anyone can take the exam.

OSP is a safety passport for offshore. You can only apply OSP through a "sponsor" - which is also the main contractor for certain particular project. You need to have valid medical report and BOSIET to apply. Anyone that is attached to a project with Petronas can apply through eOSP system which is given to companies that have on-going contracts with them. OSP is not required by some operators/companies like Newfield or EMEPMI but if you have an OSP, it will make things much easier. There are also additional requirements such as LPS, PTW and competency card for example, depending on projects, companies and locations.

Hope this explains.

I am disappointed that a friend of mine have failed in the medical check up for wireline engineer position. "unfit for offshore" the report says. She's not physically unfit though. I wonder if she can actually join the big red but for maintenance engineer post. That would require less offshore works, correct? Funny thing is, she have BOSIET already from her current company. And working offshore sometimes, just not with the fixed rotations. Seems that the medication she's been taking is influencing the doctor's decision. So guys, do you think she can apply for maintenance engineer position? I'm hoping that she can join me under the same company/base, at least.

Oh, so its basically petronas e-filing system for them to validate contractors who basically have BOSIET. Thought it was for onshore work only.

Try another clinics. Some clinics tend to be too strict for no reason. I always went to Klinik Berkat, Ampang.

NIOSH OGSP & OSP are two different things - one for onshore, another one for offshore, respectively.

eOSP is just a portal to submit applications for Petronas to approve. Once approved, can pick-up the passport from Petronas.

consultants company (emphasize on design engineers, and others except the offshore team itself) like technip, ranhill, aker hardly have their staffs go offshore. Just do design consultations and paper works on pc in office.

I am working for one of those companies mentioned as an engineer. After 1 year working, only one time go offshore for site visit. This happens only when there is a new brownfield project.

Been looking to go back installation contractor or even fabricator and finally have my chance at a break with two upcoming interviews. Hope all goes well. My eyesight gone bad already after too much time with the PC. Work 9 hours in front of PC + more than 2 hours of FB/forum etc.
