hey sifus, i've tried to search around, but i think dis may be d best place to ask.

i'm currently in my final year as an aerospace engineering student and i'm very interested in joining the oil n gas industries seeing as how my seniors n fellow family friends have "lured" me. They say it's d most monetarily rewarding with great benefits. I'm not lying when i say dat money is my main motivation right now.

So my question is, am i qualified to apply for a job in this industry? My cgpa is a tad short of 3.5 Here are the list of subjects i took as an undergrad. Perhaps it can help shed some light.

I'd also like to know how can i apply the knowledge from my course in the oil and gas industry? When we graduate, we'll be granted bachelors of mechanical(aerospace) engineering.

Guys, I have a small question here,
which kind of engineer will require to go offshore only for a certain period? I mean, they might station in office or other places rather than offshore but will only require to go offshore for some work in a short period?

Most company actually expect a 1 month notice. It depends on the company's policy. I know some major O&G companie that requires 3 month notice.

looking for any drilling/offshore job..fresh grad in mechanical here..

There is no weird nor funky ritual like dancing around bonfire that you have to do if you would like to enter O&G. Just like any other industries, all you need to do is to apply or respond to job vacancy ads. If you would like to work offshore, you need to be fit and have a good BMI. Other info (i.e. companies, SOW & etc), you have to read back those previous versions. Some have done it and they find it worth the time.

Try SBM Offshore..they recruited some of the fresh grads...also can try Technip or SapuKencang...

I think the fe is called atp( tech pro), if you are based in kemaman, you'll be in heaven ( for completion segment, dont know about other segment), as per training, slb is better and more structured, pay wise smaller compare to other service company, but still higher compare to other, and you'll have your weekend,

haha..they are not as lucrative as SLB and baker..but good enough for a fresh grad.i would give u a range. 2.5 -3.5k 

I graduated from Local public U at Skudai only.. Used PTPTN loan.. 
UTP? so glamour.. I'm not qualified.. 

But I do wonder, in case we don't have any choice for our first job, then we got an offer for the job the we always dream only after 1 year let say, I think we just follow our dreams. It might sounds we are using previous company as stepping stone. But all in all, we don't really know, when the offer is going to come anyway.

Try another clinics. Some clinics tend to be too strict for no reason. I always went to Klinik Berkat, Ampang.

I did my medical check up there recently..the doctor was actually nice. I asked him what he was looking for during physical examination and he told me that they emphasis enlargement around my lower abdomen. He told that people with lack of movement also sometimes dont qualify. Your friend has every right to ask the doctor for an outcome of the result. Is it Halliburton?
