I would like to ask, where you guys take the welding certification?
I have approach MTE malaysia, but currently only know they are providing this.

Where else more place that provide the same certification?

Thanks

but they have interval to go onshore, then bounce back offshore.

Thermal science is the only related here (gas dynamics maybe related). In O&G industry, piping knowledge is added an advantage. Obviously you will start from zero. Be patient and learn slowly while dont put pressure on yourself. If you get O&G job, You will have to read a lot of books about piping while you will regret that why you do not take engineering mechanical (pure without specific field) or petroleum engineering. Obviously other subjects you listed above just wasted of time. Since your CGPA is high, you will get the interview. But to believe, O&G is very hard for you unless the company will send you to training. If it is on job training, I believe you will resign in 1 month or less. rclxub.gif

You can forget about all your first till third year subject, the only useful is few basic physics law
the only matters here is elective, but i can see is nondestructive structures can help a lil and some dynamics.
You can totally forget about the rest.

As I myself start from nothing, but gain something along the way.
You maybe lucky to secure interview with high cgpa so called, will you survive along the way? that's another issue.

For my opinion, you can try Risk Based Integrity jobs (RBI), more towards inspection
If you experienced, go for SGS. Will they even look at you, that's another issue.

If you mechanical can't join, what's more for electrical? Start from the ground instead.

Hi, I was wondering. Im from Bachelor of Electrical Power. How can I going to O n G field ?

Thanks
*
why o&g? at the first place.

if you seriously like crazy workload and unforeseen stress,
lucrative remuneration only apply if you above 5 yrs experience
with minor site jobs such as freelance work leader and freelance jobs.

for my advise, you better search for E&I, as it should be related to us.
i'm electrical power but dealing pipeline, and i know nuts about it doh.gif

Regarding the OSP, read more here: http://goo.gl/648y2

And Stefanov what do you mean when you say salary barely make it? If you earn RM24K per month but paying 2x 2.5mil houses, 2x BMW M5 of course you 'barely make it'.

It's funny when those freelance wireline field engineers, or underwater inspection controllers, or saturation divers said by the end of the month, they said 'barely make it'.

I mean, those freakin' saturation divers earn more than 2000USD per day. F!
*
nah, i'm still fresh stage, less than a year.
Need to invest a long time for huge return.

those underwater inspector tipu you la. laugh.gif

Hai guys.. I really2 need opinions regarding this..

I'm one of PETRONAS scholar that was recently graduated (Oct. 2012) from local university and my background is in Electrical & Electronics Eng major in Instrumentation & Control. I have passed PETRONAS structured interview and within 6 months (from 1st Oct. 2012), HR will try to find the placement for me either at the headquarter or their subsidiaries.

Unfortunately, till now, 3 months + already, there still no job offer for me from PETRONAS. Should i wait, or just apply for other company. Btw, previously i have done my industrial internship with Baker Hughes under drilling & drill bit systems dept.

My questions;
1) Should i wait for PETRONAS? I really didn't intend to breach the contract since they are kindly enough to sponsor for my degree.

2) Should i just apply back at Baker Hughes for field engineer position? Till now i didn't apply any position at Baker because the last time i contact with HR, they need to see release letter from my sponsor before they can offer a position to me.

Help me please... Thanks
*
For me, I will go for baker cause I like drilling, field and physical work
but depends on you, both got pros and cons.

it's obviously you know petronas working lifestyle.

But baker offer you on wireline? then you have to see long term career goal, where you gonna head etc

I only know carimin, cause last time I did some research project on them.
majority is on pipelines, and corrosion.
but if you in management trainee, sorry, you just coordinating works.
if possible, get into niche skill such as pipeline engineering.

google up, it's a decent place to learn about pipeline knowledge

is there anybody know what is Stress Engineer job ?

they have their own board of engineer ..similar for those whom certified with title Ingenieur (IR) ...

i heard in Petronas , they had an engineer with this capability ...and many company in the US want him badly ...

this job is highly paid for Oil/Gas industries .
*
I personally think it falls under category
metallurgist or material/corrosion.

If you get that job, super high job and niche industry.
yes, currently US need these specialist badly. go check it.
cause not many people can do it

MYR 3000 - 3200
Hi guys why valve engineer salary so low one? I thought VE is quite hot in OnG.

so that company start with 'C'?

not really recommend for fresh grad,
I dont want to bash that position, as for those want to head start, pls go field engineer instead.

there are vendors who are paying rm1.7k to rm2k for field engineer(kuli kuli sahaja) thumbup.gif ,even it's 2013 this year.
don't be surprise up till date, where market inflation is high in malaysia market.
those company still did not increase their basic up till date.

for those who took low pay basic(like myself) you better make sure those experience really can helps you.
then jump ship
