Haha... Your BOSIET holds no value after this if you don't have PTW. Carigali's platforms require PTW to board.

No lah! But it is true, you need PTW to board platform, not sure whether they already implemented it.

Aiyooo you ah. Back then Competency Card only for SBO/SKO. Now only I heard they enforcing it to PMO. Last month, they dont ask for Competency Card when I board a platform in East Coast.

hi , wanna ask about electrical things related to oil and gas.

If i want to learn about load list and single line diagram for simple system (e.g. UPS, DB) got any recommended website or read for me ?

* fresh grad here. working for contractor EPCC company.

currently busy doing TBE, PR, TC (all paperworks) would like to know more on the technical side (systems)
*
You can start reading the specifications and datasheet that AFB and compare it against technical data submitted by vendors. You will stumble upon unfamiliar things and that's when your Internet will become handy. Google up for things in the specifications and datasheet that you don't know. This will leads to one thing to another. While you are at it, get familiar with PTS and DEP (which indirectly related to IEC, BS and etc.). If you can't find the information that you wish to get, walk-up to your lead and ask.

Also, you can always ask your vendor for better explanation.

If you have a chance to go to yard whether during construction or commissioning, by all means make yourself available. You'll get better picture.

I think that is the only way for you to pick-up the technical knowledge.

guys wanna ask, what is the chance of being call again by the company if you have failed the interview ?
i went to an interview with the client site ,but failed, n they told me they will call me up if there is suitable post.
anyone been called back before ?
*
I am not working as Client (I wish I am) but from what I heard from my friends (who are working in Pet), you will not be called again at least for a good one year. I don't know this for sure, it is what I've been told.

anyone has taken M-BOSET from sequ offshore? how does this course compare to other OPITO approved BOSIET courses ? is it valid overseas?
*
Last time I checked SEQU is PETRONAS-approved training center to do your M-BOSIET, LPS and etc. You can ask them again to confirm. Even though I work in KL but i always prefer to go to TSTC.

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Oct 27 2012, 06:04 PM)
Never heard of M-BOSET before. Which organization is accrediting this course?

Unless its equivalent to OPITO standards or higher, it may not be valid overseas. Just like NIOSH OGSP is only valid in malaysia, it would be wise to take up BOSIET rather then go with a course whose standards you may not be familiar with.
*
M stands for Malaysia. Those with OPITO approved BOSIET can also apply for OSP as long as you have valid medical report done at approved clinics in Malaysia.

The procedures in Malaysia kinda hassle if I were to compare the way they done things in EU.

Undergoing my medical checkup for petronas tomorrow. any tips before the check up?

Shave your balls! biggrin.gif

Also, don't eat and drink 8 hours prior to check-up. Plain water is fine. They will take your blood and urine. Try not to piss before the check-up so that you will have plenty of urine to give to them. Hehehe.

I heard too. Are you in Lumut?
*
Actually I was referring to SA project but since SA designs were inherited for SN, any issues in respect to SA should prolly be the same to SN as well.

About D21, if I heard things correctly, the reason why D21 platform was bought from US and refurbished because of the consultant fakap the design completely. Hence, to meet first gas/oil, the fastest way was to buy used platform and had it refurbished.

As for IEV, the only thing I heard, well... Hehe.

If you don't have any other offers and you are OK with their offer, just go for it. The faster you get the exposures, the better.

If you have other options, consider others.

Hi everyone,

Good day to you all. Im new to this page. Im looking for a job in oil industry, anywhere in Malaysia or out of country. I'm from IT field but willing to do any job just to get enter in oil industry. Pls advice me if you all have any contacts to get a job. I already applied online at multiple company, but no response as im from IT background. I have 6 years experience in IT field and currently working at HP as deputy team manager, providing technical support to Shell Royal Dutch globally. i would be grateful if you all can help me. Thanks in advance

To be honest, at this stage, it is not a good idea to deviate from what you have been doing (IT) to something that you are not familiar with but that doesn't mean it is not possible. I've met a couple of people from IT doing ICS (instrument control system) but they came from vendor side. It will be a long way for you.
