QUOTE(Fallen_Afh @ Jan 20 2013, 08:10 PM) Lowyat gods, lend me your wisdom. I'm looking for a monitor that supports hdmi for use with my PS3, mainly so that I can play in my room for late gaming sessions. Monitor speakers not necessary, will be running the ps3 audio straight to amps/cans. Looking for value but not completely sacrificing quality, good enough that it is indistinguishable by a lay person (namely me) - don't need to be bleeding edge/connoisseur level. Tentative budget at 500+-. you want glossy or matte?

QUOTE(vivakarna @ Jan 20 2013, 08:13 PM) you want glossy or matte? No clue what those mean. Yes I am that clueless update. Did some research (google google google) on the topic. I'll be primarily playing late at night so would glossy be okay? Also what does lowyat (I know not a hivemind) suggest?

Hai guys may i ask. Can human eyes actually see the difference when gaming with 1600x900 on a 20 inches monitor vs gaming with full hd reso 1920x1080 on a 23 inches monitor? Is it noticeable?

QUOTE(MitsuStorm @ Jan 20 2013, 07:17 AM) Cr mkn also. Hahaha. Yeah been thinking about the calibration. But the price of the devices really really expensive. Thanks anyway Check my siggy QUOTE(Fallen_Afh @ Jan 20 2013, 08:18 PM) No clue what those mean. Yes I am that clueless update. Did some research (google google google) on the topic. Glossy is the shiny shiny screen like you see in iMac displays. it's reflective so you can see your own reflection QUOTE(antoniov @ Jan 20 2013, 09:29 PM) Hai guys may i ask. Depends on the viewing distance and PPI (Pixels per Inch) which are both inter-related

Best is to use matte screen as you might turn on your desk lamp and the light reflection will be very visible, like looking at yourself in the mirror when there's dark screen. If you're looking at monitor at complete darkness then it shouldn't be a problem but it's of course not recommended for long term for your eye's health.

Also regarding IPS and TN panel, based on my 5 minute googling most people prefer IPS because of the bigger viewing angle. Since I'll be the only one using that monitor, should i just go for TN panel since its cheaper?

Guys what's the native resolution for 21.5/122 inch monitor?
I'm able to stretch to full screen with 1680x1050 but not 1960x1080 (black at the edges). The sales people said is 1960x1080.
I've just got a Philips 224CL 22''.

Hi All Sifus,
Have some questions hope any1 can clear my doubt, as I wish to purchase a new monitor now, budget RM 500 or slightly more.
1) Does monitor comes with audio jack only serve purpose for headphones only, as in not suitable to microphone?
2) Some monitor come with USB port, does these USB port serve as charging purpose only or can it work like normal USB port like it can detect pendrive for copy paste purpose?
I believe that monitor comes with USB port the price is pretty high, while comes with audio jack seems ok like the LG IPS234V. Would appreciate anyone can advise on this.

answer :
1) i believe audio jack only for headphone, not for microphone 2) USB port can acts like normal USB, u can play movie using it. However copy paste i think is impossible. Come to think of it, where u are going to copy and paste it anyway ?
