Haha. I need something bigger than my previous U2312HM. How about Dell UltraSharp U2913WM?
*
I have been using the U2913WM for almost 1 month.
from my perspective, its kinda give you a new experience because of the weird ratio (21:9). I tried playing a few FPS game like crysis 2, bf3, metro 2033 and its really fun to play in that ratio. For software like adobe illustrator, it does let you open alot more tools on the side but the stage is lil bit cramped on the vertical area.

Hi All Sifus,

Have some questions hope any1 can clear my doubt, as I wish to purchase a new monitor now, budget RM 500 or slightly more.

1) Does monitor comes with audio jack only serve purpose for headphones only, as in not suitable to microphone?

2) Some monitor come with USB port, does these USB port serve as charging purpose only or can it work like normal USB port like it can detect pendrive for copy paste purpose?

I believe that monitor comes with USB port the price is pretty high, while comes with audio jack seems ok like the LG IPS234V.
Would appreciate anyone can advise on this.

1) There're only few that actually come with audio jack and depends on models, it could input and/or output, some HDMI capable monitor enable output as analogue audio so you can plug into bigger speaker set or soundbar (just under the monitor). For microphone input of which I haven seen any monitor which does that.

2) Those USB port on the monitor also serve as an USB powered hub so you can use it to charge your phone or connect to any USB equipment, i.e. keyboard/mouse, pendrive, printer, etc. as long as its uplink USB is connect back to your main rig (USB port behind the PC; mainboard).

Also monitor that come with USB port is not as expensive as you think it's, Dell U2312HM is slightly higher than RM500? This one I think need to call Dell or find out at Garage Sales.

Hi appreciate your reply,

Regarding the audio jack, some comes with Audio In and Audio Out, wondering if my headset (with mic) can just plug in there and use?

While the USB port, if example possible I insert my USB drive there and copy paste data from my pc?
And you mention uplink connect back to my main rig, this means I have to connect 1 of the USB from the monitor to my main rig in order for it to works?

And yes I agreed the U2312HM is nice, but my computer table space is limited, only ablt to fix max 21inch I think,
would appreciate if sifus can recommend smile.gif

hi guys

my laptop has 3 display outputs. VGA. mini DisplayPort. HDMI.

1) i would eventually want to use the HDMI for my ps3
2) mini DisplayPort for laptop
3) VGA ... hmm .. maybe for laptop as well

i guess im trying to find a monitor which supports HDMI and mini DisplayPort so i can hook up PS3 and my laptop to it. but if there isnt a monitor like that then i guess ill have to hook up my laptop via VGA instead of DisplayPort.

possible to recommend me something around RM500? i know there are some monitors which has like DVI and HDMI and VGA and DisplayPort .. but those are like close to 1k? or more?

so yeah im looking for something affordable to hookup both ps3 (HDMI) and laptop (VGA/mini DisplayPort) together.

everyone's few cents are welcome smile.gif cheers

i confuse with 3d led monitor nowadays..

1.its called 3d monitor and can support 3d mode movie/game blabla.
2.but the 3d is need to activate first , so it changed 60hz to 120hz.
3.but on the normal desktop usage its just on 60hz only.

how come the monitor cannot constant display 120hz? , why need a mode to activate it?

or is it on 3d mode still using 60hz software mode? (can feel dizzines in 5 minit)

There's nothing that 2D can display 3D, it's just a color trick that tricks your eye sense to think that you're seeing 3D.

Unless it's hologram, 2D will still be 2D.

any user here can confirm if LCD monitor with higher than 1080p resolution can work with Xbox 360?

i'm thinking of getting a LCD monitor to share between my PC and Xbox...but i've read reports that the LCD screen will turn black when connected to Xbox...due to Xbox can't support up to 1440 resolution or something like that....

thanks for your help in advance....

no wonder some of the user using so called "3d monitor" feels dizzy when watching movie/games.. back to basic we still need 120hz monitor to compensate each eye every frame.. same like in cinema nowadays.
