Lowyat gods, lend me your wisdom.
I'm looking for a monitor that supports hdmi for use with my PS3, mainly so that I can play in my room for late gaming sessions.
Monitor speakers not necessary, will be running the ps3 audio straight to amps/cans. Looking for value but not completely sacrificing quality, good enough that it is indistinguishable by a lay person (namely me) - don't need to be bleeding edge/connoisseur level.
Tentative budget at 500+-.

QUOTE(vivakarna @ Jan 20 2013, 08:13 PM) you want glossy or matte? No clue what those mean. Yes I am that clueless update. Did some research (google google google) on the topic. I'll be primarily playing late at night so would glossy be okay? Also what does lowyat (I know not a hivemind) suggest?

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Jan 21 2013, 08:06 AM) Best is to use matte screen as you might turn on your desk lamp and the light reflection will be very visible, like looking at yourself in the mirror when there's dark screen. If you're looking at monitor at complete darkness then it shouldn't be a problem but it's of course not recommended for long term for your eye's health. Matte it is then. Also regarding IPS and TN panel, based on my 5 minute googling most people prefer IPS because of the bigger viewing angle. Since I'll be the only one using that monitor, should i just go for TN panel since its cheaper?

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jan 21 2013, 08:10 PM) IPS panels have better colour reproduction... Thanks, I'm also seeing(google) opinions that TN panel is better for gaming. Fact or fiction?
