I got a U2312HM too recently.

Just wanna check if its just my monitor but does your monitor have strong backlight bleed at the bottom left corner also?

I find it quite obvious when the screen is gray or black. sad.gif
Seems to be worse than my LG IPS226 in terms of backlight bleed.

so for gaming with a budget RM500-RM600?

DELL DL2312HM
Samsung S23B350H
Benq?
Viewsonic?

can recommend me one?
quite sure my 6850 GPU will not support the 1080p highgaming, but thats another problem altogether

Always go for the ones with IPS screen

few miliseconds delay wont make any differences unless you're playing high pace FPS game like quake 3 COMPETITIVELY.

The color reproduction and the viewing angle is way better than your ordinary TN panel.

I'll choose dell because the warranty support is top notch.

I play CS/CS:S/CS:GO once a while for 1 hour +/- sometimes. Not competitively, but i've been using CRT for 10 years... doesnt have any ghosting/lagging/etc smile.gif

How important is 120Mhz? Means my GPU actually has to hit 120FPS to make use of that ?

On the other hand, I do play some strategy games, action games, DOTA2 once a day

I do work, browse the net, chat almost a lot when not doing the above

Other than IPS, what else should I evaluate?

Thanks for your input... What are u using now?

EDIT:
VS239N LED IPS

how about this model as well? Seems decently priced too

You should narrow your search only towards those with IPS panel. From there, u'll have to see which of the IPS monitors has better build quality, warranty support, inputs, online review etc. smile.gif

by turning off the vsync gpu will hit almost near 120fps. depends on card.
hard to tell by explanation. should just go to shop who display 120hz monitor.
feel the smoothness.

Depending on which model, monitors like the 24" U2410 for RM1399 or 27" U2713H for RM3029 isn't cheap tongue.gif

i believe PLS panel is Samsung exclusive, its basically an IPS panel with minor tweaks to make Samsung claim the panel their own.

OLED is the future.

imho dell provide good after service support for their product and u can buy it without visiting any retail shop since they have non. Dell do provide good IPS panel monitor that is why usually they are people's choices. For me 2 and half years ago, was scouting for IPS panel and at that time 24inch u2410 would be the best i can find especially it is 16:10 ratio. Brought it and used until now without any issues and makes me getting used to IPS panel as i switch to TN panel in my office i can see alot different in the colors
