The 1080 vertical pixel is really holding me back. If only it comes with 1200px. wub.gif

for 1200px, so far only seen 16:10 monitor. not sure there is 21:10 exist in the market?
rumored U3415W should be 3440 x 1440, if true then the ratio again is follow back the standard 21:9 widescreen spec.

I never had the chance to see what's the difference between 24" 16:10 VS 23.6" 16:9.

What's the deal about 16:10 actually in term of work and gaming ?

itll show the document fully

two full page side by side as compared to 16:9 ratio

say you open 2 pdf file, you can view both of them better than on 16:9 ratio

as for gaming, nothing much except more stuff can be seen thats all

hi all, I have a question.

I'm currently using the 1gb gtx 555. I'm very tempted to get a 27inch monitor that has a 2560x1440 resolution.

The thing is I checked the gtx 555's max resolution and yes it can support up to a maximum of 2560 x 1440. However, I'm worried that it cant handle displaying at the monitor's native resolution and many games will not be able to run smoothly at 2560 x 1440.

Anyone has any pointers or advice?

on desktop mode, with the right cable (DVI dual link or Display Port) you should have no problem supporting native reso

as for games, yes your GTX555 is insufficient for that level of resolution not unless youre ready to drop alot of graphical settings to low

either run games on lower reso or get a better performing graphic card to support gaming at native 1440p

hmm I see. for 27 inch monitors, between 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440, is there a big difference for youtube / .avi videos?

as in let say I play youtube videos (1080p) on both of them. Will the 2560 resolution monitor display sufficiently obvious clarity compared to the 1920 x 1080?

and since I'm only using gtx555 graphics card, will running youtube videos cause stuttering/lag?

1080p vs 1440p, huge difference, it's the pixel count and video size displayed on screen, for 1080p video will fit full screen nicely on 1080p 27" but on 1440p, borders on all side so you see those things much smaller than usual.
This also depends on how far your eye from the screen, 27" 1080p allows you to sit further without straining your eyes to look for the smaller details, 27" 1440p will be a little difficult, but workspace for this much pixels count is nice... IMO. brows.gif

Youtube video, no, even Intel IGP has no problem doing so. nod.gif

thanks so much guys for the advice and inputs.
much appreciated =)

one more thing - I have been searching high and low for this particular model - Samsung S27B950D which costs RM3000, but there seem to be no place that carries it. (I have searched all the malls as well as lowyat plaza)

I then come across a last unit left, but that was a demo set. The condition is perfect, however its been displaying continuous videos/slideshows for dunno how long.

Will there be any issues if I buy a demo set?

All about lucks I guess, if they still can give you the full warranty then you can take it (cross-finger), but if they don't probably they can give you a good price for it, since it's like a 2nd hand unit. wink.gif

its 3440x1440..= 3440/160:1440/160 = 21.5/9

hmm think my gtx titan black can play this on oc...

let me test.

edit nope. barely. it was too much 34% more pixel for 1440p card
..... lets hope for gtx880. tongue.gif overclock just compensated about 20% only...
