as I mentioned before, some of spec update from TFT Central are not accurate. That's correct, The Dell U2414H utilises an LG.Display LM238WF2-SSA1, as the spec below but still fall within standard IPS panel only:

- 16.77 Million Colors
- 6 bits + AFRC Panel
- Gamut: 85% (CIE 1976) 72% (CIE1931) 96% sRGB
VS. the real AH-IPS spec, which is higher:

- 1.07 Billion Colors
- 8 bits + FRC Panel
- Gamut: 120% (CIE 1976) 109% (CIE1931) 99% sRGB
you disappointed on RM800 paid for U2414H? coz you expected to get AH-IPS? Do you know what's the launched price last time for U2413 (AH-IPS)?
*
The launched price last time should be cheaper cause that time they claimed is promotional price? As I bought mine cheaper that time, after a week or two some of the forumer got quoted from Dell with a higher price tag than the initial promotional price.

Is the AOC I2369VM good? Read the reviews around the web, it has an AH-IPS panel, built in speaker and has HDMI ports. I'm thinking purchasing it. Or are there any other monitor that falls into the same category as it?

Dell U2414H comes with matte screen instead of glossy, in terms of gaming I play mostly FPS games and it works just fine without any ghosting issue...

strange then because according to TFT Central its AH-IPS from LG

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2414h.htm
another review stating its AH-IPS with the part number

http://pcmonitors.info/reviews/dell-u2414h

i would be disappointed if i paid over RM800 for a monitor and getting only standard IPS.... should have went for the Asus model instead

An AH-IPS is an AH-IPS. The specs that djlah mentioned was actually for 6-bit+FRC/8-bit vs 8-bit+FRC/10-bit panels, nothing actually to do with AH-IPS or "standard IPS" what not. 8-bit+FRC/10-bit monitors are still fairly expensive. lol.
Most, if not all of LG's recent panels (2013 onwards) are all AH-IPS.

Read the following for further distinction between panels:
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/conte...ies_content.htm

Also you can always drop LG a mail to check if the LM238WF2-SSA1 is rated AH-IPS.

i think its best if u find other monitor with more decent specs with similar prices. build in speaker features on monitors wont do much cuz we only can hear treble out of it, its different with tv speaker. even cheap tv has better speaker. but if the monitor has audio out, then its ok.

as many of us discuss about DELL, yes i reccomend a Dell, any model will do, cos of the customer service especially when it comes to warranty claim. i have claim mine, cuz the monitor screen has 'burn in' after moderate usage of 8months. after couple of calls & email sent, the courier guy come to my house bring a replacement unit on the next day without further question ask.
so after the incident, i'll definitely buy Dell for my next purchase..theres nothing to worried if the product might not work within 3years period. smile.gif

Just went to lowyat today and asked almost all the shops and none of them is selling the AOC i2369vm sad.gif , I think the model is defunct already. Bought LG 23EA63V-P instead since I have bought LG products before and they're all working well. For Dell the only reason I didn't pick them is that it doesn't have hdmi. I have a console so its a bit of hassle to buy a converter for it to work.

tl;dr - Yes. Get the U2414H. It has one of the best contrast ratio for a consumer grade <RM1000 IPS monitor lol. Excellent warranty to boot. lol

====

Yes, the LM238WF2, being a recent panel being produced circa end of 2013, is called an AH-IPS by LG. I would believe all panels since the announcement in CES 2013 being produced by LG are already adapting the "AH-IPS" term.

AH-IPS is basically a name coined by LG.Display around 2011 to represent the higher quality IPS panels developed by LG, and by itself does not segregate from the IPS family.

That was why asellus mentioned:

QUOTE(asellus @ Mar 7 2014, 03:05 PM)
AH-IPS is AH-IPS panel, especially if LG says so. It can be configured to be 6-bit, or 8-bit, all IPS panels does that nowadays. From what I've seen from the review, P2314H cover at least the sRGB range. And this is a non-PWM monitor to boot, which is a good thing.
*
As this is a term which LG.Display came up themselves, so if they tell tftcentral it's an AH-IPS, it's an AH-IPS. If they say all IPS panels out from their assembly line after 2012 is an AH-IPS, it's an AH-IPS. Whether that really means anything, I am not sure, since this is mostly marketing speak, but the LM238WF2 is a darn good panel.

wow haha nice, me also hav LG since 2010. the monitor still alive n working. I couple it with Dell using extended display option in windows.
Ur monitor usage r similar with me, also using it for ps3 gaming. hdmi port is really important if we hav a console...hdmi + an audio jack is a bonus.
About the lack of hdmi in Dell, yes I agree cos in mid price range i saw only S series have offer hdmi input.. thats why i take the S series.

So anyway, enjoy ur new monitor bro. smile.gif laugh.gif
