matte screen is a add-on anti glare coating which can be removed. u should try it 1 day on u2713 wink.gif

i already state multimedia playback, not work horse monitor lo sweat.gif u dont have to take out all kind of professional & working environment monitor when user just want to play movie and game at home.
they are more expensive for ISO & uniformity certification but not necessary "nicer" to view

dell "premium panel" is end user gurantee policy. nothing to do with calibration and better color like u mentioned in quote above.
dell "premier color" is factory calibration u talking about, not all ultra sharp model got premier color and calibration report.

i feel so wasting money to get a few hundreds matte-screen monitor. my media playback and my games look so dull and blur and always make me wanna buy a new a better one. after getting glossy screen.. i love it so much becoz everything is so bright n sharp and wont make me think wanna change

people who stick to matte screen just cannot accept the fact that is the matte screen has poorer media playback/games display.. with matte, u wont see the 'real' details that they made them into HD. look at a thousand plus ringgit ASUS 120hz gaming monitor with matte screen.. the color n sharpness still cannot reach glossy's level

i do agree to this point

similar case to my smartphone as well. i use matte SP, image seems grainy

switched to a clear glass type, suddenly everything looks so darn different shocking.gif

though, the glossy effect really strains my eyes faster than matte sweat.gif

even my current LG matte screen monitor seems grainy when playing Full HD movies compared to my Full HD TV

Hey guys how's 23” IPS237V IPS?I like the fact that is has 2 HDMI port and an audio out port laugh.gif Considering 23” IPS237V and Samsung S24B350H smile.gif But I am favoring towards IPS237V because it has 2 x HDMI port but the response time is 5ms and I read somewhere that the ghosting effect is quite noticeable for FPS games. What do u guys think? smile.gif

I know u guys gonna recommend Dell but then the U series has only 1 DVI and VGA port =/ I need 2 x HDMI or 1 HDMI and 1 DVI for my pc and PS3 sweat.gif

Which monitor is matte and which is glossy?

And also I've no idea why there's still D-sub (VGA) port on current's LED monitor hmm.gif

HI guys, icon_rolleyes.gif
i would like to upgrade my monitor mainly because i need the IPS for the digital workflow.

my current setup is:
SyncMaster 2253LW

Considering upgrade:
DELL u2412m (RM899) vs DELL u2312hm (RM 589)

given the details, do you guys had any other option beside them?
which is better for buck and could last a while?
p/s: does matte and glossy really matters?

thank you smile.gif

Dell S2340L

Flat Shiny Glossy Flat Panel in front... Not suitable if light source is on your back but they looks very classy.
