Low? Depends on the benchmarking tools used.

As you can see, my Kingston SSD performance is already severely degraded(Used for quite long time already), so this comparison might not fair lol.
Too lazy to wipe the drive, going to sell it soon sweat.gif

Why there is no scores showed?

The benchmark didnt finished, the transfer rate already is the best answer.
I could post more pics, but i'm just too lazy lol sweat.gif

For more info you should read a review instead http://www.anandtech.com/show/6090/plextor...-256gb-review/5

I checked most reviews recommend Crucial M4 256GB over Samsung 840 250GB because of flash chip type. Should I buy Crucial one?

If Crucial one is cheaper, just buy loh, performance wise Samsung SSD are faster, but also more pricey if i recall correctly.
Normal user should always chose cheaper with larger capacity, no need to go for extreme performance, it's not like 5 or 10 second faster could change your life or something.

actually we upgrade from hdd because of we want from 40sec to below 10sec boot time...so i think 5 to 10 seconds is kinda big different .which is why im concern about plextor spec itself cant match with others. dint read much review yet but will do soon.

@KHOdin, currently i am using plextor m5m msata 256gb ssd (it's much slower compared to plextor's 2.5" ssd imo).

however, it has no problem to cold boot below 10 secs with w8 (fast boot turned on in power settings). without fast boot, it's usually around 17 to 18 secs from cold boot.

in general i would say you can just grab any ssd with lowest price/gb. i think you will be fine with a m5s. however, that depends on your common computing usage also.

this is a suggestion: if you can afford it, get the plextor m5p 512gb (or sammy's 840 pro in garage sales). my reason is simple: it's not that you're gonna switch ssd once in a few weeks just for the kicks like some of us, or the ssd will die very soon once you plug it into your system. you can just invest in one good ssd and live happily ever after for the next 3 to 5 years. by then i think you could grab one with double capacities.

If you excluded the BIOS POS check, you can achive 40ish sec boot time by using a normal HDD (mine's green). As for plextor M5S I managed to made it below 40sec if I disable Non-Gui Boot which also include BIOS POS check (mine takes a hell of time) doh.gif

Sorry if I'm asking a foolish question but...what do you mean by fast boot in power settings?

well, if I recall correctly, my htpc boot faster than my gaming machine, because my dual core htpc has less components plus much simpler, and it only has 5400rpm hdd.
below ten second boot time is difficult unless you know how to optimize your pc.

which review show plextor can't match with other ssd? there are m3, m5s and m5pro. from mainstream level to performance respectively.
even if you buy the m3, it,s still marginally faster than any hdd on the market.

i'm very sorry it's not 'fastboot' but 'fast startup' in power settings in w8.

exactly smile.gif i forgot that i was referring to my laptop, which has less components and functionality compared to a full-fledged desktop. yes, you will need to optimize your machine to achieve that boot time.

plextor has a good controller, good nand flash, and its ram cache is high (i'm referring to 512gb m5pro xtreme). with this specs i suspect there will be better firmware upgrades to boost its performance further at later time (BUT please DON'T quote me on this; i like to dream biggrin.gif).

That's called Hibernate Boot/Shut-down...which some reported that it'll restart itself when the OS enter the log-in screen.

I'm using ASUS P8Z68-V, i'm not quite sure that my motherboard have those two things that you've stated.
All I do know that when it comes to boot up, both PC and laptop are roughly the same (depends on the drivers and specs).

BIOS that used by ASUS Z68 have the issue of showing Double Splash Screens...and the blackout just Ugh... doh.gif
So my overall boot-time from pressing the start button till my log-in screen took about 25~30 seconds.

Any idea how to fix that damn BIOS?
