My xp3 ended inside drawer after those long hours of burning in. No device to pair it with.

I am looking at those budget players like c30, teclast x19hd and Sansa. More I read more the more I'll likely to avoid the earlier 2.

How do you guys think the SQ from Sansa Clip/Clip+ goes with xp3?

You can consider hippo biscuit, in term of sound quality it wont lose out to any you mentioned.

Finally got my XP1 - rclxm9.gif thanks walabies.

Before anything, this is my first audiophile-branded-quite-decent-iem so it's hard to describe the SQ and also kinda unfair to make comparison based on my old trusty and battered Sony MW600 headset and a rarely used ATH-SJ33 headphones (not a fan of on-ear headphones after all btw tongue.gif ).

Out of box:

Very nice build quality. I chose silver to give more impression of solid metal-built driver chamber plus with the gooding 'marble' sound when they strike each other. gotta love that. Also the size fit nicely in my ear. Doesn't feel heavy despite the big metal stuff there.

Microphonics noise! yes its kinda annoying but acceptable since I'm used to flat cable already. Just minimize movements will do. Owned a knockoff beats tour before so yea..adapted from it. sweat.gif Anyway the cables really soft and flexible despite the massive size it look.

But nothing more annoying than the cracking sound on whenever I tried to re-adjust the buds or pushing deeper inside. mad.gif Is this common thing with large driver unit? I guessed there is nothing I could do about this? For now I use smaller tips than the pre-fitted one to minimize cracking but will sacrificing abit of isolation. sad.gif

Sound:

The bass just WOW~. Its everywhere blink.gif lol. Obviously the first thing I noticed is the overall SQ is already much better without any EQ bass boost compare to MW600 (its wired btw). Turn on the EQ, and its going overwhelming but initially the bass kinda stiff abit and wont spread much. mid as everyone said, recessed way bottom. same also with treble.

So did a 1 hour++ of pink noise burn-in at 50-60% volume to loosen up abit. Don't want too long scare would damage the driver. Then just continuously play everyday songlist to let it mature normally.

After about 10 hours++, the sound more open at much wider spectrum. I can hear more mid and treble. The bass also better as getting more in place, punchy and I can now feel those very subtle low bass note which were unheard before. Its fun noticing here and there, feel like listening to new song. So for more details, while waiting for mid and high to fully surface later on, I just tweak EQ abit to bring it up till then, when reaching hundreds hours of usage I hope it become much better.

Overall Im happy with the full range of bass sound and its amount are satisfying to me. Listening to rap metal and bassy songs became more enjoyable. And how funny that I'm now starting to appreciate those ridiculous dubstep and similar stuffs. I guess Im a basshead after all. laugh.gif

Glad that I chose XP1. Very good sound quality in very stylish and classy design yet affordable enough to attract newbie like me.

~And this probably marks the point where I might or might not started venturing deeper into audiophile world. cool.gif

No doubt the sound quality from hippo biscuit will be better than those listed. But I would prefer an all rounder DAP for now, so I 'll see if I can chance on a cheap Santa Clip+ and rockbox it.

hurray for XP1 fella tongue.gif .Aiks,, just started now need to upgrade already.. ohmy.gif Whats the size of the pre-fitted tips? also foam tip got shorter lifespan isnt it? How long can wear until spoiled?

Regarding cracking, it always in L bud than the R one. so at first I thought maybe due to my left earcanal shape that caused the early seal of the flange but then now even I swap the bud to R also it happen. Here I think the L one got weaker diaphragm? or has already spoiled.. sound still ok for now but worry of continuous cracking will shorten the life span in long run.. never wanted the imbalance sound sad.gif

I got this as well for couple of my IEM, probably due to their closed nature and the air pressure from the ear, so you might need to insert slowly and not too deep, try to use the double-flange or else save up and buy the foam type, 5 pairs RM40 from Jaben. 1 pair can probably last you 2~3 months depends.

It is caused by the air pressure inside your ears, the reason as human are not balance for left and right side, hence it happens only at one side of your ear.

Yeah I did some reading, looks like these particular IEM characteristics are the main cause. Now I tried inserting slowly while open my mouth to give more room to air to compress laugh.gif
Tried double flange but didnt like losing the bass intensity and also the insecure feeling of the buds hanging too far worrying it might come off anytime soon.

So its safe to assume this is normal case. Sometimes I did feel the balance is off by ~5%-10% more to R. I hope the driver itself is not at fault. While at it I tried few other tip sizes and some of them give more balanced output at certain position means good isolation is another factor here..

Looks like have to consider Hippo Foam after all hmm.gif

Yes that is correct, as our ears canal are not parallel same size, you can try smaller/bigger size eartip in one ear, it doesnt need to be both ears same size eartip, as long it fits and provide great isolation.

Does it happen to all the songs?
Actually some of the songs are recorded left right not balanced. It is quite normal. Some is due to player etc... many factors...
If it really a very huge difference do give us a beep.
Hope you enjoy your XP!

Regarding the cracking noise when you insert the xp inside your ears,it might because of the ear tip,and XP1 and XP2 has this problem as XP3 dont have this kind of sound,if you are away,XP3 ear tip's nozzle hole(the silicon) is smaller than those from xp1 and xp2,so the ear tip might not squeeze as much as xp1/2,hence no cracking sound.

That is what I observed. The cracking sound is only exist when you push it inside the ears right?

I did experienced the cracking sound on the left side only of the XP3 with higher volume. Maybe a third party tips will help?

From the soundtrack i always played as below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sphOi1zN300

starting from 0:36-0:39, the cracking sound appeared.
