It's really not what you need to know but how you need to react and how you need to answer.

I think giving the gist of what they are looking for does help one another.

So give pointers. It will help the ppl hiring and those trying to hire.

Also please don keep you current attitude when you get In. Else no one would be helping you. "Those who say keep it for fairness"

I do think giving out advice to the others candidates is appropriate and could really help, I just don't think it need to be "100 % details" telling them every single detail for the process.

Yes, I love sharing with people, just not to spoon feed people, I do provide advice from what I think would be helpful during the recruitment. Don't get me wrong that I'm too selfish to share, I believe u been to SRD, u should know actually there is nothing much we can tell the others, because most of the question are quite standard , which is "your answer lead to the other question". Thats is why I told the others to "remember what you did best in the past and be the person who you are"
Because they did ask ur past achievement and they assess from how u response to each situation given, and this, no one can help.

I totally agree with what you just said. Sharing is different from spoon feeding. A lot of the candidates here are not being resourceful enough. Many tips have already been given and mentioned in this thread. If you have the initiative, you could just go through 10 to 20 pages of past threads, instead of posting the same questions over and over again.

You have already highlighted the two very key factors - "remember what you did best in the past and be the person who you are" (re-quoting what you have just said. hehe)

Hi guys, just want to share my experience with Shell. From application to SRD, to offer.

Timeline:

- Application
- Online tests (7 days to complete upon application)
- F2F interview (2 months after online tests)
- SRD email (2 months after F2F interview)
- SRD feedback (1 day after SRD)
- Offer (5 weeks after SRD)

The whole application process is long. My advice is to work simultaneously while going through it all. To be honest, when they emailed me my SRD dates, I almost forgot about the whole thing. I did not chase or follow-up much.

I shall go straight to the last stage (SRD). I'll let you experience the tests and F2F interview yourself.

Although other people may have different strategies for the SRD, I will share with you mine.

1) I thought Shell, as an energy company, is serious on innovation and sustainability. Try to research and build your answers on these two themes.
2) Have a stand and be confident. Come up with something like: "I think we should go with this and why."
3) There are no right or wrong answers but don't give conflicting ideas. Your views will no doubt be challenged. Assessors questions are targeted at your previous answers.
4) In some activities, you will be very hard pressed for time and have to digest a thick stack of information. I organised my thoughts using SWOT analysis (strength, weakness, opportunities, threats). It gave me a clearer picture of my stand/decisions, at least I could see my plan's weaknesses and I will know where the interviewers will target (and that's where you should mount your defense).

Good luck.

Good luck to this year's candidates.

For all potential recruits, do keep in mind that you'll need to throw all relevant ideas on the table during the day. Keep it simple & straight to the point. Think broad, lead and encourage your teammates during the group discussion and do not break under pressure when assessors challenge your views. Instead, justify and expand on reasons behind your answer.

If you feel you didn't do well in one task, clear your mind and move on. Do not linger on the consequences of your mistakes. Instead, think of how you would improve yourself, and start focusing on the next event. Be calm, confident and don't be quiet - speak up (appropriately of course)!

Although you won't be marked during non-assessed event, you can still leave a strong impression with your facilitator and assessors. Tell them about your life experiences - don't limit yourself to stories about your work. Chances are, if you've reached that stage, you're already impressive on paper. They want to see whether you can carry yourself well under stress.

If you make it, congratulations! You're exactly what Shell is looking for. If not, take it as another life experience and reflect on areas of improvement for your next career leap.
