Need to get some feedback... I'm shifting to a new place and since my current contract with Unifi (20Mbps) was already over since last July, I'm tempted to switch to Maxis. More so with the new offer that Maxis is offerring. Is it a wise move? Keep hearing connection problems with Maxis. I have nothing but pleasant experience with Unifi. No broken connections or throttled downloads from what I can see.

I save RM 300 required to move my Unifi connection from current to new place. Don't watch the HyppTV and therefore won't miss a thing if I go with Maxis. I will pay RM 51 less every month for the same speed as I have now with Unifi. Alternatively, I can have faster 30Mbps speed at RM 1 less every month than what I'm currently paying.

I don't game and I don't torrent but I download movies heavily. I download using paid premium accounts. Thanks.

Based on your requirement... Go for Maxis Home Fibre.

If you not tight budget, my advice is don't go for Maxis. Not worth for the hassle.
I thought my Maxis fibre finally settle down and should be happy with it after so many issue popping up in a month, this is my second month... new problem still showing up. Now i'm with 799vn with no disconnection since day one 24/7 operation.

Add on :
One more thing, my torrent and p2p start being throttled download. Different is 80% slower than first month. I seldom torrent and p2p but i do need it once a month or twice.

Source for testing - Highest Seed and on top speed condition on speedtest with cable and 3 days continuously test.

P2P now is worst than my old 1mb streamyx.

if u have outstanding case open with maxis, then call them, tell them the router got problem, keep dc and restart itself. request the router which you wanted. if everything goes well, should be replace without any problem. for my case, im facing the router restart itself, make report on thursday night, today change.

kinda fast, but i think due to maxis already made appointment with me to do joint speedtest with tm counterpart. when i call them, i told them i want them to bring new router and change.

Look at your Maxis to Maxis calls total then tally it with Home 150 rebates and discount.

No black and white stating which one takes precedence. But I was informed my Maxis center MV that the free minutes gets deducted first. Try call 123 at your end, they will give you different answers.

Added on September 26, 2012, 11:55 amThe is a bug in Maxis Mobile billing system too. The Maxis to Maxis calls section includes TM fixed line calls as well.  sweat.gif

Just check my bill on this matter....
The "Home 10Mbps FOC 150 Mobile Minutes (On-Net Mobile)" calculation is all Maxis-Maxis only calls.
Calculation for both months (Sep & Oct) seem to be OK.

I notice TM fixed number listed under "Domestic Maxis-to-Maxis Voice Calls"

What is the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for my Fibre Internet service? What happens if I exceed my FUP?
Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is to ensure all customers can get good browsing experience and to prevent abusers from hogging the bandwidth, which can impact other user's experience. For the 10Mbps, the 100GB quota applies. If you have breached your allocated quota, your internet speed will be managed to ensure other users are not impacted. Your FUP will follow your subscribed package accordingly. Currently we offer unlimited quota download until further notice.

Yes, in order to make your PS3 connectable from internet you must change from private IP to public IP. After that, you may use UPnP in Thomson or do manual application sharing under Tools menu (also known as NATting or port forwarding). PS3 term define this as NAT type 1 or 2.

In PS3 term, you have 3 NAT option:

-type 1 if you assign public IP to PS3 (put it in DMZ)
-type 2 if you share PS3 port at Thomson router
-type 3 if your PS3 is unconnectable from internet

I hope this helps
