the hp890 earpads are also removable and washable. i tried it and it is quite easy ot put back once you get the hang of it, because it has a groove that will let the earpad 'slide' back

what's your budget? RM300? And what's your favorite genre? Rock, classicals?
895 is really just a starter cans, it may sound very good to someone who never audition higher-end headphones. But honestly for a budget of RM300 i strongly recommend you the SR60 instead. It will definitely last for at least a year or more. Besides, the SR60 doesn't need an amp to drive (having one will be better). Well... unless you don't like Grado's retro design |

Except for the top-of-the-line Grado GS1k though.HP895 is "circum-aural". It rest around your ears. Both the Grado and the HP895 are full-size headphones. |

depends on your music preference. Grado basically doesn't perform well for classicals. Sorry i can't comment on the Senns as i never auditioned any of them before.

I asked around my friends, they say that the grado sounds better than the philips probably because of the fun factor. When I first bought the philips hp890 it is more like "is that it?" kind of feeling. You will appreciate the philips after using it for awhile. Grado have a better first impression, you can feel the bass and treble. Not much soundstage, but I don't think it really matters at first. Anyway, sound really is a subjective matter. It would be better for you to try out both before getting one. Hope the philips people here are not offended I myself using hp805. And before this hp890. A used sr60 will cost you rm200 usually and not more than that |

According to another forum, they said that Grados are purely for musical. For gaming, the Grados do not perform good. Most of them would recommend the Audio Technica A500/A700(for the budget of ~Rm300) for a more all-rounder choice. I'm not sure if they are bias or what though..

QUOTE(besaid @ Feb 13 2007, 11:54 AM) sorry for askin noob questions, plannin to own my 1st serious head phone.it ll b for general everyday use... actually a basic cmoy is enough to drive it to near maximum. =) but i always drive it with my MD only, without amp. lazy some time. if i need better sound, i will plug it into an Speaker amp.is 895 n 8900 not too much difference???i am considering these 2 models.im more towards 895 cos of the stand... any good amps for these phone??? AFAIK that HP890 isn't easily available in US / Canada. so while we read the review over headfi, HP890 isn't exits there doesn't mean it is not good. and Hp890 were retailed at USD100 over there. =)QUOTE(yrh0413 @ Feb 13 2007, 01:51 PM) what's your budget? RM300? And what's your favorite genre? Rock, classicals? here comes the poison. but i really have to say somethings about "music is about personal taste" isn't mean that more expensive can will always suit ur need. i tried senheiser flahship, i tried Audiotechnica W5000, i tried AKG K240, K340.895 is really just a starter cans, it may sound very good to someone who never audition higher-end headphones. Hp890 pad can be remove. just pull it lightly out. it can be detach quite easily.I'm kinda fat guy, so by covering up something on which ever part of my body i'll slight sweat. That's why i'm think i'm the only one that take bath 4~5 times per day. Even when i'm writing my palm also will slightly get sweat de. And yes HP890 pad not removable, i think. Febreez is not a bad idea also, i'm gonna get 1 later when i go to carefour. It remains a pefume into it.. Quite nice. waoh..u take shower so many times per day. U should get Grado man. Dun u feel HP890 quite cramp to ur head? Want some poison?
