When I was there, they were launching the new iphone 5 at yodobashi, u can see a lot of sales person walk to you trying to lure you in........

I think the biggest yodobashi store is in akiba, am i correct?

Just an update on my visa.. if anyone interested.
Applied on Thurs - very simple. Fill in Form, Show bank account statement (make sure its Certified), Company Letter, Photograph 4.5x4.5cm with white background, Itinerary Plan.

They didnt want my hotel booking and Air Ticket confirmation, returned the copies to me  - so I guess they're not necessary.

Collected on Monday from Counter 5 - no need number , just queue. But was really quick, like practically 6 mins only. Best time to go collect is around 2pm as you won't need a number then.

Yay. I now have a Valid Japan Visa for 15 days only... going in Nov!
*
Didn't you read the requirement of docs ??? the "hotel booking and Air Ticket confirmation" is no longer required.

Just to let everyone know for those who didnt, i think japan has started integrating the IC-cards.
If you have SUICA, you can use it even in Fukuoka(SUGOCA area) now and vice versa. SUICA(Kanto) xSUGOCA (Kyushu) xICOCA(Kansai) yey. No need to get all the cards just to avoid massive coins in pocket tongue.gif

yes, no need flight & hotel confirmation, as well as photocopy passport. I submit on tue, collect on thursday.
To show ur savings, it is not necessary to have CTC Bank Statement, showing a CTC bank balance will do. These 2 are acceptable by the embassy:
1. update ur current balance in ur bank book, then photocopy the first page and the page showing current balance & CTC it; or
2. go customer services ask the bank officer to print the Balance Enquiries statement & CTC it. (some banks they do not allow you to print Bank Statement at other branch other than your open a/c branch).

Bank letter is not required.

Not entirely true. If you're qualified enough especially if you're an academician,
the Japanese embassy may grant you 90 days stay and 1 year validity.

Glad to know it is useful for someone else, although it is kind-of outdated. I'll write another quick review of the new accommodations that I've tried in Osaka and Kyoto.

I believe it should be based on the length of your stay filled-in the visa application form.

Back to Malaysia after 4 days in Tokyo, 3 days in Osaka and 3 days in Kyoto.

Here's a quick spoiler of things I learn about Kyoto and Osaka :

Just print the statement from your Online Banking website's statement and get it Certified True Copy(CTC) at the bank for FREE.... CIMB wanted to charge me RM20 (which I believe the cashier will pocket the money)

I went there in September with 2 lecturers from the university,
I helped with the visa application and collection. laugh.gif

Anyway, I think it's more of a "Multiple Entry" type of visa
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Link
> Check under applicants as intellectuals, No.4

Strange that we didn't ask for it but it was given automatically.
Maybe they want more academicians to go there?

Japanese also same as malaysian ...they sometimes not follow the law also.

If you can read Japanese. Try read Japanese news paper. Everyday also got people crossing the yellow line while train is coming on station and knock out by train.

Malaysian also not sampai that crazy tahap yet.

Oh come on, it's bad enough that we can't see someone's emotions when replying using text.
Guess the little smiley at the end didn't help huh? doh.gif
Should consider forecasting jobs if you have the gift that your info is really accurate.
Well, I'll just apologize then if it offended you. notworthy.gif
