Hi zstan,

Thanks for replying.  Do you suggest AA's recommendation.  Some of the hotels featured in their website are quite affordable.

I will be flying to Osaka with my family for our annual trip (wife and 1 kid).  My budget is small.  Do you think RM7 - 8k (excl air tickets)  is enough for 6D/5N?  I am not planning to go Tokyo but will be in Kansai area for the whole trip.  Appreciate it if you could point me to a thread that talked about itinerary? Thanks.  smile.gif

although it's affordable, is it near any public transport ? or is it near the tourist attractions ? you have to factor all these things in smile.gif for 3 person should be enough as i think stimix here has done it for less than that amount biggrin.gif

all the itineraries can be found in this thread if you patiently browse the whole thread page by page. do check out the first page too smile.gif

Just need the Adapter
If you buy any electronic from Japan back to Malaysia then you need Transformers to step down the voltage.    Because Malaysia are 230V...Japan made Adapter just can withstand 110V.  Malaysia 230V will burn the Japan electronic if you dun have any step down

reminds me back when only jap's original playstation are available in Malaysia, saw one at video game shop with white smoke coming out from the console after the clueless staff straight connect it to power socket and switch it on without a transformer. the console didn't explode, though. laugh.gif

No it's not hard to apply. As long as you submit all the required documents and have the recommended rm6k or whatever in your bank, I've never heard of anyone getting the visa rejected. Once you get your visa approved, it is only valid for 3 months. So if you going around Christmas you can apply anytime in October onwards.

Didn't really think about those factors when looking for hotels. Frankly, I haven't planned where to visit yet since we still have about 6 months' time to consider.

For my case, i apply visa through JTB agency opposite Berjaya Times Square. I submitted true-certified bank statements, company letter stating my salary & position and fill up all the form downloaded from the japan embassy website.

I suggest u to book airasia flight as early as possible to get cheapest price. I bought tickets to Tokyo and back to KL for RM775. Add on meals and bagages is around RM1k. Now, i'm already in Tokyo and its hard to communicate here. If u know how to read Chinese words, it will be a bit easier for you. The taxi fare here is super expensive and even travel by bus and train is also quite expensive. Be prepare to get sandwiched by in crowded Tokyo major area like Shinjuku tongue.gif

I'm staying 16 days in my friend's house in Tokyo. How many of u going to Tokyo? Staying in Tokyo for 2 week will be very costly. And its going to be very cold at year-end and you won't feel comfortable to go out.

MAS still offering rm1.4k all-in fare round trip to Tokyo currently, direct flight...rm1.8k? No comparison...

EDIT: AA round trip is rm900 per person, after baggage meal insurance is about rm1.2k. where got rm1.8k? that's more like 2 person before extra charges...

Cathay flight need to stop by HK. waste a bit of time.

I flew Cathay to Osaka / fly back from Tokyo open jaw in April. The time wasted transit in HK isn't significant really, cos the go to Japan leg was overnight flight and we landed in Osaka at 6-plus am anyway. However, I suppose since each leg of the flight is only 3-4 hrs, so Cathay uses old aircraft with dated interiors, small screens and no video on demand. Some more on the flight back they put my wife and me on different rows cos got no together seat sad.gif

No lor, on the return Tokyo - HK - SG flight, we kena separated on the HK - SG leg. So which means I was checking in 5-6 hours early and still got separated. Anyway for me I won't fly Cathay any more unless it is really significantly cheaper than other 5 star airlines.

Sad lah couple have to sit separately. The stewardess can always request single travellers to switch seats with u. I guess they are just too lazy to do that.

The check in lady told me, you go up there and then ask your neighbors to switch seat with your wife ok?

doh.gif

We asked but nobody around us was willing to give away their aisle seat lol. So we figured aiya 3+ hour flight it's ok lah.
