if i wanna view mt fuji on shinkansen
for tokyo - osaka, pick seat on right
for kyoto - tokyo, pick seat on left
am i correct?
*
googled abit and found this on japan-guide.com

QUOTE
The easiest way to view Mount Fuji is from the train on a trip along the Tokaido Line between Tokyo and Osaka. If you take the shinkansen from Tokyo in direction of Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, the best view of Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from around Shin-Fuji Station on the right hand side of the train, about 40 to 45 minutes after leaving Tokyo.

so guess its correct to sit on the right for tokyo->osaka.....and left for kyoto->tokyo.

As long as you print out the map/directions (or better if you have data plan) with you, you should be alright. Helps if you have the name of the place written in Japanese. And also the name of the train station too. At least it'll be easier for locals to help you.

At times locals are too nice, they actually walk with you to the place that you are heading to (provided that place is nearby la).

Good luck!

You can always visit the tourist center in the station next to Isetan. There got counter where the staffs can converse in English or Mandarin, thus if you have a plan where to go; can seek their advise and they will direct you on transportation. Else ask the hostel you are staying.
So not easy to get lost.

Hey all! I'm planning to go to Tokyo/Osaka next year. I wanna ask from some sifus here.

1) I know during March, it is still pretty cold. Any experience on the amount of clothes you have to pile on during that period? Need to calculate the cost needed to buy warm clothes. Also, I'm hoping to travel light T_T. Tentative date is Mar 11- 31 or Mac 18- Apr 6.

2) Early April is the start of the spring break holiday there... would it be hard to book transportation? Like bus and local trains and whatnot?

Thank you for any insights or help... I'm still narrowing down my itinerary and will share later ^^.
