So, based on your responses, it seems that I shouldn't upgrade just yet. Hmm... I guess I'll wait until I really feel the need to rather than on a want.

Could you guys confirm with me if there are updated drivers for Windows 8 for my system? (Yes, I sound like a lazy noob but I've checked and found almost none.)

guys, wanna ask that whether dual 7970M and dual GTX680M which one is better? Although I know GTX680M should be better among the duo, but 7970M still got any problems? cuz I saw people complaining the fps dropping suddenly mid game and back to normal after a sec or 2, and it occured quite a few times. Illegear dun have dual GTX680M currently. sad.gif
So, I am most probably stuck with that choice, and I need more confirmation b4 I buy it. Thanks! ^^

I may be wrong, but the problems with the 7970M is mostly due to enduro. I believe non of the sager crossfire series actually uses enduro does it? That's about 90% of the problems gone already and it's a lot more affordable thumbup.gif

Dear Eugene,

The 7970M problem only exists on RS-15 and RS-17 (NP9150 & NP9170) due to Enduro. RX-17 doesn't have Enduro feature, hence it is problem free.

We will also add dual GTX680M option before end of the year.

Hi All,

Planning on getting an Illegear RS-15 sometime next week, hoping a few people can help me clear up a few questions. I'll be installing my own mSATA drive and OS.

I'm guessing this is the right page for the drivers?
http://www2.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebo...roductType=9150

If for example, I was using Windows 7 64bit, I would only need to download all the relevant wind 7 64bit drivers, but I noticed two other drives which I believe I won't be needing if I'm using an mSATA as a main drive?

Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver for Windows 7 32/64 BIT and Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Windows 7 32/64 BIT.

Is there any particular order I should install the drivers? I've read in a few forums that I should at least install the intel's built in GPU before installing the main GPU, how about the rest of the drivers?

Have I missed anything else that I would need for a fresh install?

Thanks in advance!

1. yes, but i recommend use the drivers from their original sites. i heard that sager provided drivers are crappy on the site than the cd (or vice versa).

2. both this drivers are useless. for rapid start, your mSATA is used as a cache storage, pretty much like a RAM but usage is different. as for rapid storage, u need to have RAID option to use this driver.

3. yes, install the intel's graphics driver before proceeding the graphics card driver installation, to prevent errors in the system.

4. after the drivers are installed, update your windows (if necessary). then, you are on the go to enjoy your laptop!

EDIT : btw, i dont agree to use mSATA as an OS drive. the speed of a mSATA SSD is slower than standalone SSDs but faster than standalone HDD, so its preferable that you use it as a cache storage.

Dear 500yearoldalien,

We can provide dvd with both Win 7 and Win 8 drivers. There is no need to download from Sager site. If you would like to download, I would suggest you to download from official Clevo page: http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download.asp

Here is a complete guide of "how to enable Intel SRT": http://www.pcworld.com/article/248828/how_...technology.html

Hope this help smile.gif

The 180W adapter is compulsory.

The NP8130 cannot upgrade its GPU to GTX 6 series, which 5 series GPU you want to use?
*
Oh. it is due to the fan size limitation? What is the price for 180W power supply and 580M GPU then? Also, if I change to AMD, do you know what version is supported for NP8130 ? 6990 M? I want to do a data comparison between the GPUs first hehe.

That depends on how very careful you are on using the laptop.
My laptop still going strong after almost 2 years of usage (Except LAN ports which burned during sudden thunder strike) smile.gif

RX17 will be 1.8 hours if you have dual GTX680M SLI, while dual HD7970M CrossFireX will be less than 1 hour. as for RS17, it has nvidia optimus or amd enduro, so will last approximately 3 hours.

Dude. Gaming in battery mode is not recommended. It doesn't give enough juice. It makes your frame-per-second in game lower. There's no high-end gaming laptop that has longer battery life.

If you want to play game, it is recommended to use power adapter.

Then get 2 laptops. I use a cheapo netbook (light, small and 11 hours batt) for portability and my Sagers stay at home. He only comes along for LAN parties laugh.gif
