My temps from using ICD have been good. I participated in the ICD24 giveaway at Notebookreview Forum... Here are my posts from there:

I guess based on the results I got, the paste is worth getting. I'm gonna switch to Prolimatech PK-1 when it's available from a seller in LYN. Looked at reviews and found that it gives better temps than ICD7/24.

Hi guys,

Currently contemplating on whether I should wait until 2013 to get a new laptop or I should just stick with my current one. Been playing games smoothly so far with my current setup (check siggy) but I feel that it's time to retire that old one (turning 3 years in Feb'13) and move to a new one. What do you guys think?

If the current models, I'm looking at the 9150 which is just the same size as my current one and I'm not too keen on getting anything bigger than that. I did see that the powerbrick for the new laptop is HUGE. :|

So, based on your responses, it seems that I shouldn't upgrade just yet. Hmm... I guess I'll wait until I really feel the need to rather than on a want.

Could you guys confirm with me if there are updated drivers for Windows 8 for my system? (Yes, I sound like a lazy noob but I've checked and found almost none.)

Quick question... Would keeping a battery in storage for a year degrade it in anyway? Would it be dangerous if I plug it back into my laptop and charge it (never remove the power supply until I turn off the laptop)? It's been a year+ since the battery has been in the laptop. I stored it in its own box in my drawer at home and before I removed it, it had 40% left.

Hope you guys can help me with this. Thanks a lot. biggrin.gif

Thanks for your reply. Now I have a new issue. I think one of the RAM slot is dead. Just before the Windows logo shows, the laptop shuts itself down. I removed one RAM and the thing works like a charm. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi guys,

Anyone know where I can get a replacement fan? I accidentally broke one of the fins on mine. Tried to reattach it with glue but it didn't stick on for long. Now I'm hearing "zzzzzrrrrtttttt" noises coming from the fan with the broken fin. :|

I used some weak glue because that was the only one on hand at the time. Better just buy a new one rather than keeping it. Sure thing. Thanks.

I think it's time for me to change my laptop. Booting up into Windows 8 at the logo screen, it just shuts down. Removed one RAM and it works fine (had to figure out which one first). Had this issue with other RAM modules as well... this is the 3rd module that I changed. Damn... Not sure what else could be causing the issue though... It happens like every 2 months after I update my Windows.

I thought of that as well, but I'll wait for next year in order to tolak a bit from tax. Anyway I just got a new wifi card, Intel 6235. I wonder if I can just change the wifi card just like that, or does the BIOS has wifi whitelist that it needs to adhere to.
Can you try booting on other RAM slots? Anyway I had my own issues with Win8, it keeps on saying there is error and need to restart after boot. And so happens that my vpn software went wrong, had to uninstall in safe mode. Probably you could try this, but would be a pain in the butt since to enter safe mode, you actually need to login Win8 first, then quickly go to settings to enable safe mode.

Thanks for the suggestion carbonytte. I tried that before. Still crashed before the Windows Logo came up fully. Finally, the real issue came up. It was the graphics card. Lines and colour distortion started to creep up on a screen like some old movies. I contacted Illegear and they are going to take my laptop and diagnose it properly.
