lol that's not right. US website is usually updated. Taken that, the original leaked specs for Y480 is this one, still, the price even FreeDos is too unbelievable.
Anyway lets discuss. >14 inch >GT650M GDDR5 >i7-3610 >Pre-existing heat issues with Y580 Reports of DV6-7XXX running GDDR5 version of GT650M going hot is quite popular on NBR. Fitting very much the same specs in a 14 inch, what would be the outcome? |

Well i thought you were referring to the Lenovo Malaysia website,My understanding is that the Y480 with the GT650M is only available in China and now Malaysia?Anyway lets discuss. >14 inch >GT650M GDDR5 >i7-3610 >Pre-existing heat issues with Y580 Reports of DV6-7XXX running GDDR5 version of GT650M going hot is quite popular on NBR. Let us speculate now as the price is too good to be true iirmc, Lenovo do mention that Y480 with GT650 will come in June during their previous new product lauching. If we compare the existing Y480 with GT640M LE, its cost 2999 with win7 and 2499 with DOS. Its highly possible they will replace the existing Y480 with the same pricing. If we compare with new Y580 at 3399. Its seem justify for the pricing different of 900 for win7, GTX660M, extra 4GB & 500GB and blue ray. Its also possible come with i5-3210m/GT650M(GDDR5)/DOS at 2499 Then it will direct compete with N56vz with i5/GT650(DDR3) at 2699. It may not be competative with Asus where it come with Win7, 2 yrs warranty, sufwoofer and relatively better quality and design for 200 different. But Asus warranty service is questionable This post has been edited by ytlay: Jun 24 2012, 09:31 PM |

My take is quite different: you know how lenovo US always have this coupon that makes their products ultra-cheap? it'd be easier if devour could confirm us the pricing for his units. |

QUOTE(hpnc6230 @ Jun 24 2012, 10:56 PM) review on lenovo The review from Wired gave only 5 out of 10 for Y480 and it stated the performance of i7 3610 is below par. Is it solely because no SSD/7200rpm hdd (which I can overlook) or the processor in Y480 is really below par? I think it's the former right?http://www.wired.com/reviews/2012/05/lenovo-y480/ Added on June 24, 2012, 10:58 pmmore detailed review on lenovo http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/22/3108823/...pad-y480-review I am planning to get Y580 though but I have mixed feelings. |

Y580 keep on jumping the shipment form mid June, late Jun than to July.
Wish it can make it in the coming PC fair from 13/7 to 15/7 lol. Lenovo Malaysia replied in facebook here. "The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 will be available sometime in July 2012! We apologize on the lateness of the shipment as there are various factors contributing to the delay. We will be sure to keep you updated as soon as it is available!" Y480 average score 72.5 in notebookcheck external review here.I am planning to get Y580 though but I have mixed feelings. more detail review from notebookreview here. Its better to wait for user review as Y480 may has potential heating issues. This post has been edited by ytlay: Jun 25 2012, 08:13 PM |

Haih, too bad I got the Asus N56VZ last Saturday. If not I might reconsider the Y480 with GT650M DDR5.
Mainly is because of the review by Asus owners here regarding the after sales service. Hopefully the N56VZ doesn't give me headache as I will travelling oversea and is nearly impossible for me to wait for period of warranty claim by Asus.... |
