Y480, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M (GDDR5) @RM2499[JBL], 4GB, 500GB, DOS
N56Vz, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M(GDDR3)@RM2699[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB, W7HP, subwoofer
Y480 vs N56vz
2499 < 2699
i7 > i5
GT650M(GDDR5) > GT650M(GDDR3)
500GB < 750GB
DOS < W7HP
14" vs 15"
Y480 is RM200 cheaper come with faster core i7 & GT650M(GDDR5) less trade off 250GB, W7HP, subwoofer. N56 is more attractive/better design but questionable warranty service imo.

Y480 is best bang of the buck for gamer in price/performance with better mobility in 14". drool.gif
N56vz is more attractive & better design biggrin.gif . If this is the only computer you have and u cant leave without it, try look for other as u may headache with their warranty service. laugh.gif

Y480 vs N56vz interior thermal design. Who is the winner??? hmm.gif

N56vz definitely seems to hav better thermal design...y480 looks a bit "cheap"...lenovo pricing for their y480 and y580 is so aggressive which makes me question about the overall quality of the product...i would choose asus bcoz of the better design imho...

Y480 use a full copper heat sink and shorter heat pipe seems to be more effective in CPU & GPU cooling laugh.gif Its HDD temperature may relatively high as its baked by CPU & GPU. sad.gif
Y480 spec with a faster core i7 & GT650M(GDDR5) in a smaller chassis 14" will generate more heat compare to N56vz.
Nice pricing for Y480 & Y580 will make other notebook seems overprice. biggrin.gif
Post #1 updated with Y480 interior layout & link.

Looking forward for end user of N56vz & Y480 to post their Furmark temperature reading for comparision. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Congratz to u in getting a Killer model Y480 with killer specs & price. Its really too good to be true. drool.gifdrool.gif
Thank u so much for posting the test results, as many potential buyers are quite concern about the temp. reading. notworthy.gif

Nice CPU temp below 90c after 4 min of Full stress, tho' the temp. is still increasing & not yet stable. Ya, HDD temp is relative high like his brother Y580, but it can be easily take care by adding a suitable cooler nod.gif . Unfortunately, no GPUz to determine its temp. & any throttling.
Wonder how Y480 fare against his abang Y580's temperature reading in Full stress test as quoted below. hmm.gif

Y480 with GT650M(GDDR5) has a very high potential to OC like GTX660M(GDDR5) brows.gif , providing its temp. is under control & gpu not throttles by Lenovo. Cautious, do it at ur own risk.
By the way, ur Y580's GTX660M throttles by Lenovo when it hit 78c during OC. Haishhh...very disappointed, no luck to step it up. doh.gif

Woww.. congrats. I think you bought the freedos version right? Can I ask if you faced any problems during windows clean install (buttons don't work, one key etc)? Currently wondering whether to fly down to KL and get one or not..
Any experience with the Y480 msata ssd?
Thanks!

Yep apparently the GT650 version have freedos version only, I don't have any problem installing Windows using bootable thumbdrive.

I don't have experience in mSata SSD, but if you know mandarin you can refer this thread which teach how to replace existing HDD with SSD.
