Ya, I know that DSLR need some deep knowledge to fully utilize them, which I really worry of  tongue.gif
Nokia 808 was always my first choice previously (extremely portable, and features rich device), but then my siblings advice that dslr seems to be more flexible and match my purpose even better (kinda logical)
and now with dslr like d5100 and d3200 being priced so low, my heart starts itching already  sweat.gif
wow thanks for sharing your fruitful reviews!
Haha ya I got smartphones already, but this doesn't stopped my strong urge over 808  tongue.gif

The major problem that you outlined is what I've been worried of..
and I've watched some videos captured by laymen, the videos seems to have a little stuttering especially while panning around, it's indeed quite disturbing;
but couldn't deny that the sound quality is just beyond awesome (omitting wind noise drawback), much better than dslr without external mic attached! (This is also the reason that hold me back from buying dslr)  sweat.gif

It usually depends what scene you capture?

If you plan to take alot high speed action - go for DSLR
if you plan to take family portrait - 808 is enough
If you do alot video recording - 808 is more recommended for its Nokia Stereo Recording
If you love sharing your photos on the go - 808 highly recommended
If you love to play with shutter speed, aperture, ISO - DSLR highly recommended
If you like to take candid shots - DSLR more recommended
If you are a beginner - go for 808
If you plan to go for intermediate to professional - DSLR

and one more thing, if you like to tag your picture with GPS info (geotag) then go for 808. sometimes it's quite handy when you take pictures during vacation, to keep track on when was the pictures taken. furthermore some photo galleries can group your photos based on geotag.

i agree with you, it's pretty much depends on our lifestyle. DSLR is of course better in almost every aspect compared with 808 but it doesn't suit my needs because i'm too lazy to carry big and heavy camera around even m43 camera. it's always end up in my drawer most of the time.

if you're serious about photography then go for DSLR

Action photos and those intermediate and advanced level, of course DSLR is best.
808 is pocketable semi pro camera(layman terms) that can smuggle in anywhere. DSLR too big.
If there's a BERSIH 4.0, DSLR not suit with all the running, climbing, hehe.

I think Bersih 4.0 pureview is suitable as it comes with dedicated trigger button, which you can snap without touching the screen.

During critical moment yours eyes will be filled with tears (emotion or chemical induced !) so do not expect you have time to focus and shoot.

I've posted a question on the Nokia Support forums.
http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Software-U...re/td-p/1485624

Please post there to give them more pressure / concerns from Malaysian 808 users.

I do aware of shortcomings and pros of these monsters, and I will get both eventually (I hope tongue.gif) so it's matter of which should I get first only tongue.gif

For me 808 still wins a fair bit over dslr because of portable, and also gps lololololol

The faster processor on the 808 make Nokia Maps that much better to use than the N8. It loads very fast, and tracking seems faster too.

if me, i think 808 is more suitable and perhaps the dslr can come later when collect enuff budget.. 808 can bring with me all the times so i wan take any memorable moments with anyone also easier.. i seldom bring dslr out ..unless more formal occasion tongue.gif .. my dslr also can say sleep at home most of the time.. sometime go out walk walk or shopping without a bag.. so bringing the dslr is like look so weird and inconvenience.. i don like to bring so many thing for shopping or walk walk only.. and also worry damage or lost when carry dslr tongue.gif

The Maps application definitely (expected , i.e. 1.3Ghz on the 808 vs 680Mhz on the N8).
The GPS lock could just be luck, but during my drive today morning, it was very very fast. < 5 sec locked onto my position.

If you already have a smartphone which can take decent pictures, go for a DSLR. If you are interested in photography as a hobby a camera phone will be very limiting, even a monster one like the 808. In terms of focus, exposure, metering, ergonomy, lens and other options it is like night and day.

People say you won't carry a DSLR with you all the time. True but for planned events this is not a problem. The majority of your photo taking will be planned. For casual, off-the-cuff opportunity shots content is usually more important than quality so your existing camera phone will do.

There are some occasions where the size and visibility of a DSLR is a problem, eg. discreet street photography and Bersih rally or some events where a DSLR is not allowed. You will to judge how often these events crop up for you.

the no.1 reason i bought 808 is surprisingly not because of the camera but that it is Nokia Last Great Symbian Device..

last year when i saw the leaked manual of then-called Nokia 803 at http://pocketnow.com/smartphone-news/nokia...revealed-images and i was straightaway fallen in love with the design and 100% certain to get it the moment nokia releases it. while every normal human being will prefer a thinner device, i find myself attracted by the shape and bulkiness of it..so original, bold not copycat samseng-like design...the white version looks almost like a phone that a stormtrooper would use smile.gif

so i was poisoned for almost 6 months ady
