I think in 38 and 36MP mode, you couldn't zoom anymore because there is no extra pixel counts to perform lossless zoom at all D:

if i'm not mistaken, Damian Dinning mentioned this previously, and also, we can't use front facing camera in the camera apps,my guess is.. the FFC unable to support the comprehensive camera settings of pureview (especially 38/36MP mode)

if u need a phone,,might as well go for it..if u wanna buy a dslr, just make sure u know the basics of it..dslr is not like a normal camera that u simply snap² with like cameraphone icon_rolleyes.gif

Ya, I know that DSLR need some deep knowledge to fully utilize them, which I really worry of tongue.gif
Nokia 808 was always my first choice previously (extremely portable, and features rich device), but then my siblings advice that dslr seems to be more flexible and match my purpose even better (kinda logical)
and now with dslr like d5100 and d3200 being priced so low, my heart starts itching already sweat.gif

If you still haven't got a smart phone (chances are you have at least one already), get this phone !  I used it extensively for a day, recording the event both in photos and videos (30fps in full HD).  It is confirmed to be very usable in realife.  The videos are all recorded in mp4 format, easily played with media player or media classic home cinema.  Audio recording is just very good gotta admit.

One major problem I have for video recording is the wind noise.  And you need to use the strap that comes with it for video recording.  Handphone is not very ergonomic to be used as a video camcorder.  You may drop the phone anytime while trying to get proper shooting angle etc..  Unlike the normal camcorder which it comes with a proper strap to hook around your neck when  you shoot something.

With this phone, obviously you cannot have fine focusing by eyeing at the subject.  But with face detection technology etc, its actually very much effective to record daily events like in your case.  Unless you are into creative photography, otherwise this phone will be your only device you ever need anytime of the day, wherever you are, even during your work, your holiday trips, or on-site shootings. No doubt about that.

wow thanks for sharing your fruitful reviews!
Haha ya I got smartphones already, but this doesn't stopped my strong urge over 808 tongue.gif

The major problem that you outlined is what I've been worried of..
and I've watched some videos captured by laymen, the videos seems to have a little stuttering especially while panning around, it's indeed quite disturbing;
but couldn't deny that the sound quality is just beyond awesome (omitting wind noise drawback), much better than dslr without external mic attached! (This is also the reason that hold me back from buying dslr) sweat.gif

good point but u dont compare the quality between dslr and cameraphones ya coz they came from different area...but still,if u already have a decent phone,my advice is go for dslr...but if u plan to change your phone, then go ahead change to 808..IMHO icon_rolleyes.gif
i'm using N8 + 550D...mostly i use my dslr to snap pics of tourney but when i wanna snap pic with the players,it is hard to find someone that really know how to use dslr..so,i end up lending them my N8 instead of my dslr to snap a portrait picture etc.(unless like my convocation pic,i hired someone as my photographer sweat.gif )

Hehe true, they're totally two different things for sure, but I'm measuring with my budgets ma, so can't stop comparing cry.gif

Urgh dilemma rclxub.gif

by the way guys, thanks for sharing your thought, really appreciate!
Now Imma go back to focus on my thesis already doh.gif

Dslr is not a thing where u can always bring along...

808 u can bring all day long....

Compared my n8 and 550D, i use n8 more than 550D... The dslr is mostly for a planned event....

Of course image quality, dslr would be better but smartphone is much more feature rich...

Mana satu? You judge.. tongue.gif

Yup, one of the reason drawing me back : /

Thanks everyone for your valuable inputs, really appreciate smile.gif
I do aware of shortcomings and pros of these monsters, and I will get both eventually (I hope tongue.gif) so it's matter of which should I get first only tongue.gif

For me 808 still wins a fair bit over dslr because of portable, and also gps lololololol

No, that's not the issue. They can outsource, they can adopt other OS including Androids. But there's something very weird and wrong, they partner with WP (which is obviously not doing well and dying), and they abort their pre-mature baby (MeeGo), and set death sentence to their Symbian, 1 year before they have any WP device to sell or even show. This move, makes their customer loses hope and jump, which in turn, boost Samseng up to No. 1 slot.

Nokia was never about going single platform and emphasizing on 1 category of customers only. What happen to Nokia? In the past, Nokia is always about reaching to MORE customers, providing devices for different category/types of customers, they have the low end budget series, to Sports series, Rugged series, Designer series, up to the high end tablets for business professionals. Suddenly they went totally opposite direction and off course.

The weirdest part is adopting WP, despite it's not doing well in the market; More weird is, suddenly it's all about WP, as if it's a MS company. The one who benefits from this deal is obviously no other than MS themselves, and ever since the deal with MS, Nokia has lost their No. 1 spot, lost their customers, lost their trust, removed many of their employees, gain even more bad reputation from their Lumias, lost their technologies (e.g. Nokia Maps, etc).
Now imagine if they adopted Android? Imagine if they go multi-platform like Samseng, Sony, HTC. They can still have WP who says they can't? If they go multi-platform, high chances, they're still No. 1 today and consumers will have many choices of phones, and today's PureView will definitely NOT suffer the same issues as Lumia's PureView.

Well said, couldn't brain what and how those top management approve elop's strategy.
until now i can't see any privileges given to Nokia from Microsoft,LTE was introduced by HTC, even first WP8 was given prior introduction for Samsung instead of Nokia, not to mention the last spotted Microsoft surface phone on benchmark test..
it's like Microsoft are b****ing with Nokia, punching Nokia in the face, and telling them who's the real boss; Microsoft MIGHT not be able to gain much market shares without Nokia and at least they wouldn't went bankrupt even if they scrapped wp8, but Nokia would definitely be put in hell and possibly went bankrupt with no sufficient cash to fund new OS or even re-develop/market their Meego/ Android devices anymore at this point.

May god bLess Nokia to at least survive until they able to fund another profitable ecosystem

I believe most if not all that are still complaining are emphasizing the logic of doing business - never put all eggs in one basket, this is darn simple logic that's why it's hard to just ignore it especially for Nokia fan that really caring the survival of the company.

Anyway,wp8's "shared cores" and lumia920 still looks promising depict the fake pure view fiasco, there are still many USP for that device so let's hope it will turn out being successful
