THIS TOTALLY WORKS FOR ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO.

I have sipdroid installed on my tablet and android phone to make calls and received. however I notice one thing. Only 1 device at a time can make call or received call. This include the physical phone connected to the router.

This is a bummer. Because I live with a few people in a multi storey house. I want to be able to have the receiving call multiple devices and physical phone in the house.

hey guys..ant recommendation on a router for me to replace my thomson? lookinh for inexpensive ones but will get th3 job done. I saw at a comouter shop they were selling asus and tplink routers and they do have the sticker that says "supports unifi/maxis" and yeah they did release a firmeare supoirting these ISPs..

but my main concern is that I do have astro iptv packaged with maxis..it sucks but I have it. So which router is able to do both internet and iptv in the easiest way possible? I dont use the voip so its fine. Prefreably asus.. they had one with two 9db antaenaes lolol

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was just wondering if anyone has succeeded in using the instructions in the first post and route iptv and voip to the thompson router while the internet goes direct to your custom router?

Here's one method that is sure-fire.

1. Set up Maxis router as per usual, and then DISABLE wireless.

2. Set up any other router as per usual (you want the router to act as if it was connected to a device that served direct access to the Internet, which the Maxis router is doing. ASUS routers call this setting "Automatic IP". You must not attempt to connect via PPPoE or any other method that requires username/password).

3. Set the Maxis router to DMZ your custom router.

That's it. Remember to reboot your custom router once every 48 hours or so.

Somebody's said that if you turned your Maxis router into a bridge and used the (ASUS, in this case) custom router to log in via PPPoE, you can even put the ASTRO on the custom router, and you don't have to reboot the router every 48 hours. I haven't tried that; maybe I will one of these days and see what happens.

Thanks. I'm actually doing that at the moment. Just want to move more of the dhcp management to my own router. The maxis router is a pain to configure, especially with static ips and port forwards. I'm just trying to figure a way to bypass it but have the added headache of the IPTV stream.

I'm running an Asus AC66U at the moment and tried the asus firmware but couldn't get the IPTV working with it, hence the current setup is ONU --> Maxis Router (wireless off) --> AC66U.

Any thoughts on this will be helpful.

I don't have iptv but I'm running the Mikrotik rb951 as my main router off the ONU doing the ppoe login and supplying the wifi connectivity. The router is configured to pass the voip vlan info down to the Thomson box working as an adapter for voip only. I suppose the same principle should work for iptv?

A neater setup would be to set the ONU to handle VOIP directly and do away with the Thomson.

I'm using the Asus for routing on Astro IPTV. Never need to reboot. Very stable for months now. The Thompson used for VoIP only.

Works fine.

BTU -> Technicolor (or Thompson) -> Asus RT-N66U -> switches for other network devices

1. Set up Maxis router as per usual, and then DISABLE wireless.
2. Set the Maxis router to DMZ your custom router on Port 2.
3. Connect Port 2 on Technicolor / Thompson to Asus WAN port.
4. Set-up the Asus first. Under Asus -> LAN -> IPTV, ensure the following is correct:

Select ISP Profile = None
Choose IPTV STB Port = Port 1 & 2
Use DHCP routes = Microsoft
Enable multicast routing (IGMP Proxy) = Enabled
Enable efficient multicast forwarding (IGMP Snooping) = Enabled
UDP Proxy(Udpxy) = 0

5. Set up the Asus to dial a PPPoE connection -> supply username and password.
6. Connect decoder LAN cables to Asus Port 1 and 2.
7. Connect switch (if any) to Asus Port 3.

That's it.

1) just need data line via wifi/3g/edge/hsdpa, can call to any network as same as u are calling from maxis voip ftth
2) sure can, u can setup unlimited client software based (like sipdroid) or hardware based (like dlink phone, motorola phone)

just tested using hello axiata 3g network in cambodia, it working fine. my wife even surprise when see the calling number is our house maxis voip number, not cambodian phone number lol

thanks for the great sharing.....it's work !
but i doesn't understand about the free call....
assuming my hse maxis home fibre number is 0399887766 and the password is +1
then i register the 0399887766 on my android/ios SIP apps and successfully registered and able to make call
but , all the call tat i makes via the android/ios SIP apps will be counted in to my maxis VOIP bills ?......which is mean during bills cycle date , maxis will trace back all the outgoing call from 0399887766 and charge me ?...

looking forward sifu reply , thanks again...

Yup, you're not getting free calls. You're just using a different method to access your Maxis voip phone account. So all calls will still be charged to that account.

In the ftth package, Maxis gives a certain number of free minutes to various call destinations.
