Hi, anyone knows how to bridge aminia 4480v1 router for VoIP only while using TPLink AC1200 as main router? The router's configuration page is locked partially for "administrator" account, well not surprising for maxis. Unifi also issue the same router, but with different branding and firmware [Netis]. Reason for change: maxis shove Remote Access TR069 into my face, i feel disrespected, as it may serve as a backdoor or leeway for potential security breach. smile.gif

hi,

i plan to buy TL-WR941HP to replace my maxis technicolor router. Anyone successfully configure this model as below?

1. TL-WR941HP - Internet only
2. Technicolor - VOIP only

I need the VOIP as my house security alarm system is connected to my house phone.

my also is alcatel ONT

Alcatel(LAN2) > TPLINK 1043ND (WAN)
TPlink (LAN123)> PC
TPlink (LAN4) > Thomson(WAN)
Thomson(TEL1) > phone
phone can use, and use telnet disable thomson network

All, I just received the call from distributor technical support. He said maxis has changed some VoIP settings internally resulted the dlink DSL-g2542 VoIP working. Dlink is working for the new firmware release but no timeline was given. Looks like we have to suffer on the maxis router for little longer.
I will keep y'all posted here when I received update from them.

Well, if maxis still no news on speed upgrade once unifi turbo start rolling, im ditching it. The router they gave are subpar. If u want to use VoIP, u cant use the rj11 port on the BTU given by TM, it is routed to LAN 2 or LAN 3instead. If u want to demote the default router [thomson/technicolor series mostly] to slave router for VoIP, u will be driven crazy. I once reached customer service hotline regarding how to use my own router as main router as my thomson router(black top white bottom tg784n v3) keeps resetting itself and hangs frequently. The CS guy dare question my intelligence, keep doubting me whether reboot or reset. Im facepalmed really, wifi name set to default has to be reset what. Then he keep taichi, insisting "we know our router, it will never reset itself unless someone mess with it". He implied that im delusional when in fact im the only user in the network who knows that the router is configurable, others dont know the existence of the 192.168.1.254 page at all. Then i call again for solution to address the same issue, they tell me to keep using the tg784n v3 as main, connect directly from TM BTU, then connect my own router to one of the LANs, seroously?? ranting.gif . After I gave them a piece of my mind for being ignorant, they tell me to sacrifice the VoIP instead... rclxub.gif .Luckily my devices still under warranty, so they agreed to replace my router, thats how i end up with another ciplak aminia.

p.s. sorry for the long post, and I dont agree that the VoIP is complementary, its part of the service u subscribed, its not expendable like free gift while stock last

Hello guys,

As you guys know, by looking at the picture, I want to use pfSense firewall into my Maxis Home Fibre,
however pfSense does not support VOIP functionality, but I need VOIP to my house alarm.

So, I have to keep the Maxis AC router in the network in order to use VOIP service.

I am requesting all the technical forum users out there, whether the above networking set up is a workable solution.

I can confirmed that when the MAXIS AC router's PPPOE is turned off, VOIP still works. PPPOE will be enabled within pfSense itself.

Any advice is most appreciated.

Thank you. biggrin.gif

Something that works for Dlink DSL-G2452 VOIP currently.
Perhaps someone can figure out the diff between your config & this firmware.

Found this thread very useful - so just want to share my discovery in case it help others too. I had quite a different discovery from various postings here so kinda strange but it works.

I am on maxis fibre & voip, plus astro iptv, was using the standard alcatel TM modem + thompson router

Bought linksys wrt1900ac to replace the thompson, but i need voip, so still connect thompson to linksys just for voip (WAN of thompson to LAN 3 of linksys). Astro IPTV connecting to LAN 4 of linksys.

The linksys router has built in "maxis" vlan preset - specifying WAN 621 (tagged), LAN port 3 for voip 821 (untagged) and LAN port 4 for IPTV 822 (untagged). Tried this preset - VOIP not working, IPTV works but could not access Astro's On Demand function

Have tried changing to manual vlan - 822 for VOIP LAN 3 &  823 for IPTV LAN 4 (all UNTAGGED) - same issue
Have tried changing to manual vlan - 822 for VOIP LAN 3 (UNTAGGED) - no VLAN tagging for LAN 4 - VOIP still not working, but IPTV (including on demand) works perfectly!

So it seems Astro IPTV does not need vlan tagging to work - if vlan 823 is setup, on demand could not be accessed. Don't know why, but since it is working perfectly - then it is what it is

For VOIP, after trying so many variations (no vlan, vlan 821, 822) it finally works ONLY after i changed VLAN setting of VLAN 822 to TAGGED. From most of the posts here by right the VLAN 822 setting should be UNTAGGED, so again it's kinda strange mine only work if TAGGED.

Anyway, after 3 days of googling and scrambling through this thread and others at least it is working as i intended now. So just sharing in case it helps others - because i understand how frustrating (but somewhat exciting!) journey it is to get rid of this lousy Maxis stock router.

I've just upgrade my plan from 30mbps to 100mbps.
and changing my router to ubiquiti edgerouter-x to have a more stable connection.

apparently they did something tricky again.
initially i just do all the VLAN stuff, and get it connected, but the speed is limited to like 5mbps up/down. tried to switched back to thomson router, it back to 100mbps.

Then I suspect they lock the MAC address of the router, spoofed my EdgeRouter-X port Mac address same as Thomson router and it works fine! getting 100mbps up down.

So guys. I heard maxis is giving new TP Link router to their new customer. Is it true? If some of you are a new subscriber. Please share the performance of the new router. I'm currently stuck with the Aminia MA131 and its not that good.
