Hi all sifus, after using Maxis Fiber for almost 8 years, I think I have outlived the Thomson router and got a new sexy router. Unfortunately, when I connect the new router into the Huawei modem, it is not able to connect to the Internet. I have no choice but to connect the new router into the Thompson and have the Thompson connect to the Huawei. That way works. So, I disable the wifi in Thompson. It is not an elegant solution, in fact, it is kinda redundant. I don't need VOIP, just internet+wifi.. so how can I connect my router to Huawei and keep the Thompson in the closet for good?

QUOTE(xfuture @ Sep 17 2018, 10:40 PM) I've just upgrade my plan from 30mbps to 100mbps. and changing my router to ubiquiti edgerouter-x to have a more stable connection. apparently they did something tricky again. initially i just do all the VLAN stuff, and get it connected, but the speed is limited to like 5mbps up/down. tried to switched back to thomson router, it back to 100mbps. Then I suspect they lock the MAC address of the router, spoofed my EdgeRouter-X port Mac address same as Thomson router and it works fine! getting 100mbps up down. Tell us more! What did they do?

I recently had success setting up PPPoE for a new router. The trick was to set maxis VLAN to 11. VLAN 621 is for maxis partner (maybe your infra is maxis and you subscribed to TM Unifi). Keeping this info in case it helped anyone.
