Hello everyone,my sis is getting a new S2 soon but she's kinda noob in IT stuff. She dont need fancy rom or functions.I know that official ICS sucks so I think I'm gonna help her flash custom rom.

Which custom rom would u guys recommend?A stable and good battery usage will do  biggrin.gif

Just remembered this from a while ago.

I once considered installing GO Launcher for my SGS2 G version. Then, my friend told me not to because it will slowly "kill" my phone. At that time, I didn't bother to ask him how or why because I thought it made sense.

Now, thinking back on what my friend said, I realised it doesn't make any sense at all. 2 of my friends are using it and they have no problems with their phone.

I googled and all I got was how GO Launcher was laggy on their phones. But most were praising how great the launcher was.

So,how can GO Launcher slowly kill my phone? I don't get what my friend said.

I think so lor. Actually, what is the purpose of using other launchers? Better experience?

not all charging banks are bulky.
try google about MiLi Power Star,
its an amazing small 2000mAh device.
no external wires needed, all built in.
*
Thanks for your suggestion and your reply on the ICS and custom roms were very informative too.

- For this type of power banks, can we use the phone while its connected to the power bank?
Cause when we are charging the phone to the wall, I get an electric shock if I touch the phone.

- There are cycles right for charging? And if we charge the phone when it's not low or keep taking it out and charge again, it will decrease the battery life. So I assume we have to let the phone connect to the power bank until it's 100% right?

i think its better to buy to battery casing..since its compact enough and you woulddnt feel it when you use cause it feel like a casing
*
Yeah at the moment I prefer a case over a power bank.
But I still think that a spare battery is the most ideal for me.

Just install MIUI 2.6.8. The battery seems draining pretty fast. Anyone has same experience? Plan want to flash Resurrection Remix 2.2. Any comment? Any recommendation on best battery life ICS ROM?

Ah I see.Thanks!

QUOTE(mtxx @ Jun 12 2012, 05:28 PM)
there are many versions of official ICS.

the first that came out was LPQ, super suck and buggy.
then LP7, LP whatever.

the last i tried was LPF.
now i'm on LPG, i think this is the latest?

LPG is very good, no hang, very very few force close,
speaking of which, already using for 1 week d i think, just nova launcher force close once.
so LPG is not bad.

custom roms sometimes tend to have some weird shit happening. if you are not a person that likes to google how to solve weird bugs, then better stick to official rom.

for my gf s2, she still in gingerbread checkrom. girls are simple, she is super with her pinkish go launcher theme and such. no point flash to ics and if anything screw up i get the blame.

sometimes, the less they know, the better.
i explore custom roms because its kindda like my hobby.
most people dont really care, they just want a phone that works, for these type of people, best not to mess around their phone.
*
Thanks for the advice!I love to flash custom roms also.In fact I tried 1 by 1 to see which 1 suits me tongue.gif But then girls r simple..so I guess that's a no no for her XD

if you really want to root your sister s2..just root it if problem occurs just root it back and say your updating the phone, she will always buys it haha thumbup.gif
*
Haha I guess she dont need root either. She just use basic functions like call, sms, play games, watch video and listen to musics tongue.gif

Ah ha,so many ppl recommend CheckRom for GB then I guess it must be good.

Btw,from what I can see (have been reading few pages back) the S2 G version seems problematic sweat.gif (mayb not all but it's like 7/10 got problem sweat.gif ) I guess I will help her get the Non-G version biggrin.gif Mayb wont flash any custom rom, just use official ICS and see how it goes.If it sucks badly with bad battery usage, then I guess no choice but to root and flash XD

im using G version ... when it was running gb had a lot of problem.. like frequent hangs and so on.. but after upgrading to android 4.0 its much btr.. no lags or hangs.. and for G it does not have the problem such as overheating.. and btw this is for your gf rite? Im guessing G also will be fine.. and also currently development for G is growing rapidly .. already got cm9 and soon miui and resurrection remix as well biggrin.gif
