Hi guys, I know this question might sound silly, but when we uninstall an application, does it remove ALL the applications data as well? Or the data is still there and I can re-install the app without downloading it?

Another question for everyone. I'm a I9100G user, running on official ICS update, no root.

In S2, there's 3 storage sections - internal storage, USB storage, SD card. I was exploring the new ICS update the other day and I went to Settings>Storage and saw that the remaining space on my USB storage is quite low. Misc (miscellaneous I think) took up a few GB of space. I pressed that and saw that external_sd was the one that took up that much space.

Here's my question. does this mean all my data on my SD card (external SD, according to my phone) are copied on my USB storage? I'm really puzzled here.

Thanks!

In your opinion, what is the best app to save battery?

This is regarding my post earlier about my doubts about my phone's memory.

I know the phone has internal storage for its own purposes, so I won't bother about that.

I went to Settings>Storage.

In usb storage, it says that I have only a few GB of free space left. You can see that Misc takes up a LOT of space. I pressed 'Misc' and you can see that external_sd takes up the most space. I dont understand how can this happen.

I tried to press the grey bar under SD card but nothing appeared, so I don't know what's exactly in my external SD card. But that's not the main question. The main question is below.

Is is possible that the data in my external SD card is copied into the phone as well? I thought external SD is the memory card? This is what's bothering me. I don't understand how it works ; the USB storage and external_SD.

Would really appreciate some explanation here smile.gif

man, i think this is the 2nd time that annoying user pm me ask me buy battery. duno how to  report, so i just ignore that user.

anyway, S2 thread is good, people ask ques, and very fast got people help.
i asked a ipad jailbreaking ques in the apple thread, till now no one care me. kindda weird how apple sold tens of millions of those icrap stuff and so few support from forums.

Agree with you how the S2 thread is good. The pros are really helpful smile.gif

use another files explorer, and find out the true storage space of ur internal sdcard. most probably the storage is wrong, usb storage refers to the thumbdrive using OTG cable, so its weird its even in that section. Mine's in internal storage then internal storage then sdcard
*
Any recommended files explorer? And is it possible to access all files by connecting my phone to computer?

I tried Storage Analyser like someone mentioned in the earlier posts and I've managed to spot certain files (like apps that I've deleted, but somehow still have data). Deleting them now! Thanks a lot!! biggrin.gif

I have no problem with video playback.. so maybe it's really aosp/aokp related issue.. That's why I've stayed clear of them..  blush.gif  blush.gif

Just remembered this from a while ago.

I once considered installing GO Launcher for my SGS2 G version. Then, my friend told me not to because it will slowly "kill" my phone. At that time, I didn't bother to ask him how or why because I thought it made sense.

Now, thinking back on what my friend said, I realised it doesn't make any sense at all. 2 of my friends are using it and they have no problems with their phone.

I googled and all I got was how GO Launcher was laggy on their phones. But most were praising how great the launcher was.

So,how can GO Launcher slowly kill my phone? I don't get what my friend said.

Problem was, I just bought that phone for a few days when he told me that, so any info was very much welcomed by a new user like me. Also he has the same phone as me, so it was really convincing that time sweat.gif

My current total RAM is 831MB. Originally was 600+ MB after ICS update but after switching back to TouchWiz launcher, my RAM is back to 831MB in total, so the culprit of the memory hogging in my phone was the Go Launcher I've been using for quite sometimes.
*
But I'm using stock launcher and yet I only have 600+ MB. Any ideas why is this happening?

Eh u guys that complained about the ICS and Ram...is it G or Non-G S2?
*
G user here. Despite the lesser RAM, I have not experienced any "hang" since I updated my phone to ICS. Not even once! I'm impressed. Very satisfied with it cos my phone used to "hang" at least once a day during my GB times. I suppose lesser RAM is not a heavy price to pay for me. Do non-G users have lesser RAM after ICS as well?

I read the first page of this thread about the "maximise battery life" section.

1) What do they mean by batteries with fuel gauge?
2) Some people say that frequent charging is bad for the battery, which is not what the section in the first page says. Which advice should I follow? Several partial discharges with frequent recharges OR Full discharges and full recharge?I'm totally confused rclxub.gif
3) Is overnight phone charging good for the battery?

EDIT: Does partial discharges also include using phone until battery less than 10% ?

1) No sure which part you read but battery fuel gauge mean the battery has % left shown
2)Li-on battery design to frequent charge. which better that draining it to low batt. You run a full discharge once in while(once a month) to calibrate the battery gauge. So the phone show correct battery left
3)It does not say good but it does not mean it is not good.
4)partial usually refer to 50% and above.

u run custom kernel because stock kernel does not have some feature.

eg.
Your phone cannot lower the brightness below 10%. some custom kernel can
Put your phone louder that your phone allowed.
There are more like shutdown 3G when screen off, AOKP kernel

Thank you for the battery tips! smile.gif
