It's still recommended to go with a standard official ROM. If you feel that the ICS official ROM is messed up, GB is perfectly fine. In fact, I advice my gf who is also a long term fellow S2 user to remain with GB since she doesn't do much tweaking with it and is jolly happy with all her GO launcher mods and themes she has with her ol' Cognition GB ROM... I know it's a custom ROM.... but that's because I'm always with her and can always rectify any problem if it happens...

Let her use the phone as it is without doing anything to it... like flashing or whatever... if she finds it good, good la.. but if she wants to upgrade, then official ROM should be fine eh?

To be very truthful, the SGSII was NON-PROBLEMATIC whatsoever when I bought it out-of-the-box.. but you know how boys are... when we know there's something more to tweaking... hehehehe...

I'm sure even if you flash something without her noticing, she wouldn't know the difference right? Might as well don't? Like how I didn't mess with my parent's phones because they wouldn't care if it's GB, ICS or JB the next year... hehehe...

Me parents will always say/ask:

"Can call/sms ah?"

"Can take picture ah?"

"Can Facebook ah?"

"Can Whats....zapp ah?"

"can online ah?"

"can play music/videos ah? Wah.... so canggih one the phone"

Get ready to be bother by ur sis, camera auto focus , heat problem, super dead battery most probably will bother u by battery and and heat issue) Most problem custom rom actually from aokp/aosp based and cm9. At least by samsung based custom rom quite rockstable. Ur choice bro. New s2 kinda predict thats gotta be G version rite? Read la previous post. How many complain official ics g version. Sensation not compatible with G so my bad. Lol

Ask ur sis to look for non g la before buy. Simple... this thread shows it ics g problem for cam while in gb, ics got problem........ nah, you can read it. I dun hv any intention to flame g user here. My apologize, fellas

G version selling for RM1499..price dropped after S3 released 

there are many versions of official ICS.

the first that came out was LPQ, super suck and buggy.
then LP7, LP whatever.

the last i tried was LPF.
now i'm on LPG, i think this is the latest?

LPG is very good, no hang, very very few force close,
speaking of which, already using for 1 week d i think, just nova launcher force close once.
so LPG is not bad.

custom roms sometimes tend to have some weird shit happening. if you are not a person that likes to google how to solve weird bugs, then better stick to official rom.

for my gf s2, she still in gingerbread checkrom. girls are simple, she is super with her pinkish go launcher theme and such. no point flash to ics and if anything screw up i get the blame.

sometimes, the less they know, the better.
i explore custom roms because its kindda like my hobby.
most people dont really care, they just want a phone that works, for these type of people, best not to mess around their phone.

if you really want to root your sister s2..just root it if problem occurs just root it back and say your updating the phone,she will always buys it haha

im using G version ... when it was running gb had a lot of problem.. like frequent hangs and so on.. but after upgrading to android 4.0 its much btr.. no lags or hangs.. and for G it does not have the problem such as overheating.. and btw this is for your gf rite? Im guessing G also will be fine.. and also currently development for G is growing rapidly .. already got cm9 and soon miui and resurrection remix as well

Yeah..long time ago..only first batch is i9100..the rest all i9100G..
Maybe some dealer still got stock for it..
Still i9100 the best..

non g very hard to get new set..unless second hand unit where some of them upgrade to s3 or note.
