Have u tried the CM9 kernel? They said it is better in term of battery saving.
I just flashed the ROM last night, still using CM9 kernel. Wanna see if it does what they claim.

Hi guys. This is my first post in this thread. I hope everybody can share their opinions to solve my problem. Lately, I got a few problems with my i9100 non G version. I've upgrade to latest official ICS firmware DXLP9 for our region. The problem is, I got very frequent SOD, at least in 2-3 hours per SOD. Very frustrated with this kind of problem. One more, when i'm charging the phone, the screen will always show low battery indication. Sometimes, when I restart the phone, it will be OK. Besides that, even in normal use, suddenly my phone will show low battery and will automatically off itself. After it restart, the battery will back to normal again. The phone still under warranty but I'm not quite sure, if this problem can claim under warranty or not. My warranty will be end soon (22 june). I'm really appreciate for your cooperation guys. sad.gif

Sound like battery or battery contact problem. Try cleaning the battery contact and usb port. Also if u got spare battery try using it and see if problem persist.

Hello everyone,my sis is getting a new S2 soon but she's kinda noob in IT stuff. She dont need fancy rom or functions.I know that official ICS sucks so I think I'm gonna help her flash custom rom.

Which custom rom would u guys recommend?A stable and good battery usage will do biggrin.gif

I've some basic flashing knowledge from my Note but I still hope sifus here will guide me smile.gif

Damn, double post

Edit: no need flash any fix, v3.4 provide it all. I install it to my gf and she love it. Not even claim any error , freeze, random reboot. Simple flash, samsung based, rockstable

Since you said that your sister ain't gonna be messing around with the phone too much,

It's still recommended to go with a standard official ROM. If you feel that the ICS official ROM is messed up, GB is perfectly fine. In fact, I advice my gf who is also a long term fellow S2 user to remain with GB since she doesn't do much tweaking with it and is jolly happy with all her GO launcher mods and themes she has with her ol' Cognition GB ROM... I know it's a custom ROM.... but that's because I'm always with her and can always rectify any problem if it happens...

Let her use the phone as it is without doing anything to it... like flashing or whatever... if she finds it good, good la.. but if she wants to upgrade, then official ROM should be fine eh?

Hmm,u got ur point there. If that's the case I will let her use it for a month and see how.The reason I wanna flash it right out of the box is because the official ICS sucks big time for my Note.It drains battery like vampire XD Not sure about S2 though biggrin.gif

To be very truthful, the SGSII was NON-PROBLEMATIC whatsoever when I bought it out-of-the-box.. but you know how boys are... when we know there's something more to tweaking... hehehehe...

I'm sure even if you flash something without her noticing, she wouldn't know the difference right? Might as well don't? Like how I didn't mess with my parent's phones because they wouldn't care if it's GB, ICS or JB the next year... hehehe...

Me parents will always say/ask:

"Can call/sms ah?"

"Can take picture ah?"

"Can Facebook ah?"

"Can Whats....zapp ah?"

"can online ah?"

"can play music/videos ah? Wah.... so canggih one the phone"

... and they're good to go! smile.gif
