For the UK locals, I know they can re-apply the following year, if they fail to secure a place the first time.
*
Even for internationals, it's the same.

Most of them who didnt secure a place during first round would take time to improve their UKCAT score and personal statement throughout the year. This involves during more voluntary work and hospital attachments.

If he read my original post, he would have noticed I wrote "apply" to med schools, not retake A levels.

But as far as I know, most medical schools in UK do not accept students who retake their A-Levels. They only take in students who did well at the first attempt.

i think he is referring to those whose a levels results did not make the conditional offer cutoff of a*aa, in the hope that they can get better results the 2nd time round....

of course, if you ended up with 3a* and no offers, it would be logical to take a gap year and try again....

that is not correct.....

conditional offers are made on a*aa for the majority of med schools, with some still offering aaa........

and they are issued based on the personal statement, ukcat/bmat results and interview.....the forecast plays very little part....at best, it helps secure an interview....
*
If I am not wrong, some require 2A**.
Is it documented that the selection is based on the above criteria and not forecast results? If your forecast is AAB, I don't think you stand a chance. Furthermore, why need a forecast if its merely to get an interview. As for Ukcat many unis only need just a slightly above average score.
Locally, I am sure academic counts first though you might argue $$$ comes first. A lot of ppl could be angry at you when they found out that not necessary that $$$ can get them a place at a preferred uni!

No idea, since it will only start in Jan 2015. I suppose details will be made available in due course.

there was initial opposition to a private medical school, but it appears that has been swept aside, and they have gmc agreement to proceed.....

it is obviously designed for international students.....it is unlikely any local student will enrol, unless they have a scholarship, or rich parents willing to foot the bill....

the unusual start date of jan is obviously geared towards foreign students, as well as possibly some domestic students who have exhausted all standard avenues...obviously no brit is going for this UNLESS they cannot get a place elsewhere.....and the 4 1/2 year duration to ensure graduates can participate in the fy starting in august.....

Jet-setting super rich parents? No wonder we are treated as their cash cows!
No public funding. So viability and sustainability could be a factor. If successful, more will join the bandwagon and a similar situation in bolehland will happen.
The public unis could just double up the number of places made available to the internationals.

I think UK's GMC is more proper than MMA/C.

I particularly like this in their website:

"But the customer at Buckingham is you" biggrin.gif

Hmm, I've recently been through the admissions cycle and most of the basic requirements are only AAA, and conditional offers my friends and I got were only AAA, one even being AABa. As for the forecast results, from what I experienced I also think it's just to see if we're academically strong enough, rest of the selection are based on our interview performance, personal statement, teacher's reference and UKCAT. So they basically give scores for each section and decide from there.

I remember doing an interview survey by a foreigner on our thoughts of a private medical university in UK that resembles a lot like this university, sky-high fees and uncapped international student quota. It's really happening! shocking.gif

I did the survey too. hoho.

Different universities rank their applicants differently wink.gif
You may ask the universities about the admission procedures, usually they have some kind of form to rank them,
through FOI.
