QUOTE(jolenemeteor @ Aug 4 2012, 12:22 AM) Wow you're fast! I'm actually in a grad entry MBBS so we've started a small amount of weekly training in the hospital since the beginning of year 1. I've also recently completed a 2 weeks General Paeds attachment over my last break, but I totally get what you mean about enjoying the long holidays! Just trying to perhaps look out for an attachment of a week or two to see how the healthcare setting in Malaysia is like in comparison to Aus. Looks like I'll resort to the unofficial way then.... I have arrange twice for my relatives and frankly, you need to 'know' some ppl to have a meaningful attachment.

A levels results out this week. Hope all UK med applicants with conditional offers meet the requirements! Apparently UCAS received about 90,000 med applicantions for 2012/2013. This figure was then "trimmed" down to about 20,000 competing for about 7,500 places in the 31 medical schools.

I don't dare imagine the numbers here. Even NHS' 6% rise in death rates is horribly scary! Black Wednesday indeed! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthne...ing-season.htmlThis post has been edited by podrunner: Aug 14 2012, 08:10 AM

in the past, it was 1 august, and that could be a weekend, so you can imagine the chaos sometimes....they have changed to the 1sy Wednesday of august, which is midweek, and should have maximum staff strength available.....
it's actually more than 4 days in most unis.....eg, nottingham actually devoted 2 scheduled 'shadowing' periods before the new housemans start, 4 and 2 weeks respectively, so that new doctors can merge into service as seamlessly as possible....

Netter is pretty good for atlas. Added on August 15, 2012, 10:20 amBtw : Winson Seow says sorryhttp://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...0397&sec=nation» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE PETALING JAYA: A man accused of faking his medical qualifications and for misleading the public about his relief work in war-torn countries and disaster areas has apologised.
The statement, published on Winson Seow's Facebook page yesterday and written in Mandarin, read: “I have misled the reporters who interviewed me and I sincerely apologise. I hope everyone will forgive me.”
The 26-year-old's story came to light earlier this year when local dailies wrote about his inspiring tales of serving in Third World countries and an autobiography documenting his journey, To Serve With Love, was published.
However, there were several discrepancies in his educational background, including the universities he claimed to have graduated from, leading to a public outcry.
According to the statement, Seow said he had taken a three-year course in traditional Chinese medicine at the Beijing Chinese Medical University in China before signing up to do relief work with International Medical Relief in 2010, during which he rendered care in disaster areas in Senegal, Haiti and Peru.
“I decided to go to war zone countries to help people suffering there. I would like to clarify that I am just a trainee in treating people,” read the statement.
Earlier, Seow had claimed that he performed surgery on victims of bomb blasts and shootings.
Seow said he would return all the donations he had collected amounting to RM38,099.97 through his site, adding that all versions of his book would be removed from bookstores.
“I would like to apologise especially to those who bought my book, the publishers and sponsors and I hope that everyone can forgive me,” he said.
Donors can contact Corporate Tax Advisory Sdn Bhd at 06-336 9698 or e-mail shaunlee@myaccount.com.my to find out how to go about getting their donations back.

Netter is good for viewing only, if you seriously want to learn anatomy, read books. You can try grey's anatomy as well but I think it's too hard for medical students?

You can try grey's anatomy as well but I think it's too hard for medical students? Netter's atlas is really good, especially when it comes to Head and neck. i never really used texts, but i do have moore to refer to. I'm using Gilroy atlas too. but i think netter's is much more comprehensive. don't like grey's. too messy. personal opinion, not to offend hardcore grey's fans
