QUOTE(Syd G @ Aug 7 2016, 11:13 AM) Unemployment everywhere QUOTE(limeuu @ Aug 7 2016, 01:29 PM) No, not yet.... Everybody will still get a job for 1 to 2 years as houseman... although the waiting now averages 9 months.... However, it will be as temporary staff....(not contract, as thought by some)....and on completion of ho, needs to get employment as permanent staff.... As of now, there are not enough positions to absorb all completing ho....so possible solution is for some to continue as temporary staff.... But the possibility that some doctors who don't perform well may not get to continue with Moh will become reality in maybe 2 years time... Then yes, unemployment....we used to joke unemployed doctors can become taxi drivers...it has become true...can be uber drivers.... still advisable to go into the medical field? as in future opportunity might be better , i dont have any insider that could give answers to my questions

QUOTE(limeuu @ Dec 25 2015, 01:27 PM) It is almost impossible for a 457 to undergo surgical training in oz... Even if you get 189, it is extremely competitive to get into surgical training programs.... Onelove you should have already got you rmo job by now? talking bout aus... how about SG? i would gather that MY still gives the best chance of surgical training, despite not being well recognised but , If im not mistaken, the parallel pathways culminate in a royal college of surgeons qualification?

there is no parallel pathway for surgery in msia....the furthest you can go is mrcs, which is not recognised as a specialist qualification....not possible to do the full frcs without a training job in uk....
there is now an international frcs...but is still not recognised by the nsr....
so it's still very much masters....except for urology and cts...

Re emergency medicine, apparently training spots quite easy to get. Relative interested in this specialty?

It seems there's more "not keen on this specialty" than "keen on this specialty" at this stage...whether or not one can get into the preferred one is another ball game altogether.

True. Looks like it's easier to get the preferred specialty at the bigger hospitals. But before that getting a MO place at a desired hospital is a priority but have to accept also if placed elsewhere.

Or rather, how long is the sponsorship from HEE? Just CT1 and CT2? Other Tier 2 visas are valid for 5 years and 14 months, subject to sponsorship.
