Consider yes, honeymoon period. But after I heard the working culture here. I realize the relax level is much better when i worked in JB or even KL. Maybe the stress is there, and i don't see it. But my colleagues seem like enjoy working here without much stress. shocking.gif

come come ...must share the lobang to the max

Haha.... I'm sure there are more company are having this kind of relaxation though. Have to inspect this job for a little while. hmm.gif

And by the way.. I plan to get postpaid for my phone as i have headache using prepaid here.... use like tapped water =___=. Singtel has better coverage compare with Starhub and M1, but Starhub is famous in cheap fares, just like Digi in Malaysia right? If i need to get a postpaid which has the lowest rate when calling back to Malaysia. Is starhub a better rsp?

And one more question, if I would like to convert my prepaid to postpaid, is it possible? Thanks to any sifu for helping me.

as of last year, not possible. can't convert, and you can't keep your number.
*
If thats the case.... i have to throw my number away. Luckily only my family members know my phone no. I will try to apply a new postpaid by today.

By the way, if I need to call back Malaysia frequently, the Starhub $38 postpaid plan is suitable for me right? It mentioned that by just topping up another $5, I can call back to Malaysia for free, which is IDD 018 if memory serves me right.

Ok. I guess i have no choice but to apply postpaid $38 then..... sweat.gif

yes and no.
38 is 100 minutes only right?
top up converts ur 100 minutes to be eligible for the 018...else it is 16cents/min if i am not mistaken.
so after u finish up ur 100 minutes, u will get charged.
i may be mistaken...need to check my wife's bill.
it is not exactly free.
even on prepaid...it is not exactly free.
*
Gosh.... 100 min... i guess i can finish it up in a day.... rclxub.gif

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 5 2012, 10:59 AM)
It's not free lah.

The IDD portion of the call is free, but you still pay for the local call portion. And that local call portion is not offset against your local free minutes.
*
local call portion is it like what crazy mentioned which is 16cents/min? That's a lot.... shocking.gif

Can't quite remember the exact amt after u go over the limit, but maybe u wan a higher package?
or just stay wif prepaid is what i think (just my opinion, no real calculation done) is the best if u call a lot.
*

But if using prepaid to call back JB.... it would be quite costly. cry.gif

Just now went to Starhub in Nex Serangoon. Reach there is a long long queue which need to wait estimately around 1 hour. That time i wait is around 9pm. Which means if i continue to wait, they will close the shop. tongue.gif I guess I have to come there again tomorrow earlier abit. haha.

Anyhow, I will try to ask the seller there whether he/she can give me some more advice. nod.gif

Yesterday i tried to call back my gf for around 30min using prepaid. I checked back the balance, it just costs around $2 ( with IDD018 ), so I think i'm still able to call back frequently. But then I do need the internet plan for my bus route apps and other stuff. Checked with Starhub they said the data plan prepaid can only get in either HQ or another place... ( forget where is it , i think should be suntec city ).

I'm still looking into ways of getting the data prepaid plan, without data plan, it just so trouble during outside. laugh.gif

Not sure about Starhub as I am using Singtel prepaid. Is your SIM a 3g enabled ? Previously my friend bought the normal (no 3G) Singtel prepaid, and need to change to a new SIM (ie new number) in order to have an internet plan (3G enabled SIM).

Seems to me SG prepaid numbers are use and throw away, can't change to post paid, can't change plan, etc.
*
The one i have should be the green prepaid which allows me to have data plan. But then, it costs a bomb. I remember two days ago, I just topped up $38 to my prepaid. But at night I realize my balance is 0. I guess data access is the culprit. So i need to get the data prepaid plan in a cheaper way.

O ya, thanks for reminding me. Its plaza singapore and vivo. I remember those as they are quite far from my working place. ( or maybe place I stay).

I thought green prepaid you can pre-buy data packages through those in-phone menu's. I vaguely recall that's what I used to do when I first landed here.

http://www.starhub.com/support/mobile/faq/...d.html#packages

To start surfing the Internet, you can choose to purchase from a variety of MaxMobile Value Prepaid data packages based on your data usage, as follows:
(a) Pay S$2 Get 30MB with 3-day validity
(b) Pay S$4 Get 200MB with 3-day validity
© Pay S$7 Get 1GB with 7-day validity
(d) Pay $15 Get 500MB with 30-day validity
(e) Pay $20 Get 1GB with 30-day validity

Yeah, I think i really need to pay a visit to them tonight... Plaza Singapura.

O ya, and one more thing. Usually we take CW2 from bugis back to JB right? There is another transit bus which is 170. I found out that this bus also stopped at Little India MRT. Anyone how frequent it comes? I can't decide which one is the best method to reach JB using the shortest time.

Last thing is that, I just got my EP card this morning. Can I use it for card scanning during custom check? Or i still need to take queue for the officer to check for it? Thanks

You can use gothere.sg for route planning in Sg.
It can link you to SMRT / SBS to see the interval timing of buses.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
The scanning at autogate is using passport instead of the EP card...not sure if your passport has been "activated" or not.
*
Thanks for the link smile.gif . I will check this once i back from work.

I asked my colleague and he said that usually once I got my card I can scan it already. Not sure whether it is true or not. Tomorrow will give it a shot once i back home. laugh.gif

30 min queue.... got so long or not? Last time i kena this kind of queue is when I went to Singapore. Going back to JB i don't think there is any thing left for them to check other than taking the white card back. laugh.gif

Yeah, so as my fren. So I'm wondering those access cards that they are using. How do they look like, can anyone show me the pic?? @_@

I heard from my fren that only EP is able to scan through the singapore custom, SP is unable. Is it true?

i see. so is it better i apply the EP first or apply for company and then only let the company settle for me? which option is the better chance for me to get a job in singapore?
*
Company will be the one who help you apply permit. You are unable to apply permit yourself without anyone hiring you. Get the job first, after that company will aid you in getting the permit. smile.gif

By the way, I end up didn't try the scanner in custom as I realize duration letting officer check is somehow similar with scanning process. laugh.gif

And for those who want to know the spending in Singapore. I have a rough calculation, ( based on my current lifestyle ).

Transport ( $4 )
Food ( Breakfast $2 max, Lunch $5, Dinner $5)
Entertainment ( None, of course lo. Reach home already 8pm++ laugh.gif ).

The above i mention is during weekdays. Weekend wise I usually go home in JB. All daily supply I will get from my home. So don't need to spend anything in SG.

hi jet23sky, thanks for the reply. i read the previous post that u are a network engineer? may i know what company u work in? if u are not convenient to discuss, u can just pm me =) coz i was planning to apply the telco in singapore but not sure they want to hire fresh grad from Malaysia. is it harder for us to apply job especially in telco industry?
*
Yup. For fresh grad wise is kinda tough. Do you have any professional cert for network like CCNP, CCIE, CCNA?

Guys. Which path is much faster?

1) Take MRT to Bugis and take CW02 back to JB custom.
2) Take MRT to Woordlands and take 950 back to JB custom.

I started from Tai Seng MRT. Thanks. smile.gif
