my first impression on this device is the design not as nice as s2, too curve, of course design can be personal preference, but i prefer the ''boxy'' s2, specs are good, just a marginally increase of s2.

I think this is the beast that gonna conquer the flagship phone... since HTC one X cannot be launch in USA due to lawsuit from Apple...
and the reason behind such design curve here and there is to protect S3 get into another lawsuit which started by Apple...

I'm looking forward to see thisndevice on malaysian market very soon. However, this afternoo i went to a phone shop at my area.she tell me that s3 will come to malaysia on sept.heck im surprise.but is it true?i wonder who can give me the promising fact about the device launching in malaysia?

sim card adapter is for those micro sim to be used in normal sim phones ma, no?

normal sims need to be cut into micro sim size, with risk of course.

S beam requires hardware support. Which is the nfc chip. Even with galaxy nexus only can use Android beam, not S beam.

S beam is different from Android beam bcz S beam can transfer much larger files than Android beam. Android beam can transfer small files like contact, Web page and map info etc.

S beam can do more than that, while aneroid beam features still remain.

S beam works by setting up a wifi direct connection via standard nfc contact.hence, able to transfer larger files.

I believe SIII has moved to a whole new level. It provides many new features that other phones do not have right now and it sets a goal that other manufacturers should overcome. Though look of the device isn't great, but isn't the user experience matters? I am excited about SIII and I am getting one.

After reading Samsung Galaxy SIII review from GSMArena... I dont feel a need to buy it although it has many new features and a quadcore processor. I think its better to wait Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that might be coming this end of 2012. I might change my mind though when Samsung Galaxy S3 arrive in Malaysia. But right now, I dont feel like buying it. Seems like a minor upgrade(and downgrade) from Samsung Galaxy Note. Samsung Galaxy S3 might be good for those who are using Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S that want an upgrade.

It does sound attractive, but really don't know if it's worth upgrading. many things need to consider, especially the screens, size, the features, and the price. Currently Galaxy Note is smooth enough for my taste.

is the S Voice usable in your note? i've tried on my HOX and its like....."dumbed down" . not performing as shown in videos

smart stay, smart alert and direct call are definitely features i'm gonna use. but i guess samsung will probably carry it over to note 2 as well, so no worries about that

the only thing i worry is note 2 might not come with the wolfson dac. wolfson dac is one of the reason i choose s3 as well. voodoo sound brows.gif

I am using Note from last year till now, like the size very much. Same like lot of people, in the 1st place was worry about the size whether is to big, let me tell you it is not, in fact this is best smart phone size.

1 thing I not so happy with, after some time of use, when you had install many Apps, the phone respond start to slow down. Btw still using stock.

I think S3 should be more smooth due to its hardware improve.

Agree with you, I have the same problem as you. But if the actual overall performance S3 better than Note (not the screen size smile.gif), no harm to go for it, 4.8 screen size still acceptable for me, then sit down wait for Note2 release. smile.gif

smart alert? it will only vibrate when it detect you take up the phone. LED Notification / Smart Alert you can turn it on/off on your preferences.

yeah its good for me too..b4 dis i use htc have blink led for any missed..and then chge to sgs dnt hav feel like somthg gone..then thx to bln it makes work back..and dis one in s3 feel superb..=)

EDIT: Some managed to get it working after editing build.prop hmm.gif Maybe the previous person did sth wrong

Launcher needs to change for customisation purposes brows.gif Nova Prime rocks!! But the latest Apex allows using Go Launcher and LauncherPro's icon packs.

root phone > download titanium backup and install it > backup > transfer the titanium backup folder to s3 > root s3 also > restore it

my guess is....since celcom able to launch it on 30 may - 3 june. maybe the official launch will be earlier

probably 29th may? following europe launch


because its weird and rare to have a courier launching a phone 1st before the phone company

And geez, I've totally no idea what were you guys talking before this. It seems like I will not be able to enjoy the phone as much as you guys if I were to keep it in its original form? I almost bought the S2 last year but after reconsideration, I hold on the thought. I'm not into the fruit brand as there are things that do not suit my requirements. Now it seems S3 is the perfect phone. At first the curvy thing kinda old fashion but the specs sure look promising. When S3 launched, I think it is time to put away my Wave to join my W810 in the drawer. Good job Samsung....

normally digi online store only have like few units to put for sale each time..i still remember after i placed the order for note last time, it direct turn out become out of stock ... doh.gif some more i only order the note after 2-3 weeks+.. i am still waiting to see if telco can offer any attractive package..if not, i will also wait to get from shop smile.gif

the blue is sumthg special. on normal look it looks like grey or black, but under a light it will have a blue tone

U really dont have to change anything with the fone.. its just a matter of preference.. some ppl like the pure android experience and therefore they flash a custom rom or change the launcher to match the cleaner version of ICS. But some ppl like the fone out of the box as it is.. so u dont have to worry.. im sure u will enjoy the S3, if u dont like, then u can install a custom launcher or root and flash to custom rom.

But for now.. just get the fone when its out and enjoy it. I currently own a SGS1 and i have a custom rom running ICS on it. But looking at the hands on and watching all the vids.. it would seem like i might not even want to mod the SGS3 (at least for now).

I think its depend how you call actually, sometimes digi plan will cost you much because they don't have fix call plan.

Maxis plan offer minimum RM30/month talk time plan + minimum 1GB data at RM48/month = RM78/month

vs

Digi plan offer minimum 1GB data at RM48/month + (How much you call) = RM48/month + ???

well.. at least is unltd... extra no charge.. maxis charge you after you finish 1GB... call charges you can make it a fix one for call charges if you want.... pay the montly min usage package and the data package....

Internet depends on area, but most of all my Digi one no internet access or showing "Edge" signal while my Maxis is always "HSDPA/3G", I will going to switch back to Maxis soon, just because the procedure take about 24 hours to switch, I cant left my phone dead.

I guess most people doesn't really bother so much about the internet speed or coverage. Mostly in Klang Valley, it'll be just fine.
Those people switching over from Maxis to DiGi probably doesn't even make calls that often which in such cases don't really bother about the basic telephony coverage. Their main priority is to have the most minimum monthly commitment laugh.gif

I think the official launching will be on the 30th May right after the official UK launching on the 29th. This is the official Olympic 2012 mobile phone and I don't think Samsung will allow other countries other than UK to launch first. The rest of the world should follow later on.

yea man.. that's what i get for my galaxy tab during the first day. a screen wiper and a recycle bag.. doh.gif no case, no screen protector. asked for the usb extension, they even wanna rip me off with RM129 (RRP RM109) claiming other place no stock, this is cheapest. disappointed with the so called free gift, but i got my tab @ RM999 la.. brows.gif but with data plan.. cry.gif

I beg to differ. There're many types/classes of plastics. Polycarbonate is very durable, able to resist high impact and deformations without breaking

Polycarbonate IS a class of thermoplastic. And most plastic materials can resist high impact and deformations. In fact PC is very hard and brittle. But if mix with other compounds can be very flexible like the one you're referring to.

I don't mind if it is plastic. My Galaxy S has a plastic body and I have no problems with it. Used for 2 years now and performance is great. Waiting to upgrade to S3!

Depends on the finishing and process. Some could make plastic feel like metal (through painting), some can make plastic feel premium like One X or Lumia. So there are still room for improvement.

i think dat's not a problem bcoz before this sgs and sgs 2 also look like a plastic..and its normal for us..anyway inside of the smartphone is more important..and u dont buy high end smartphone to drop it easily isnt it..

Actually i dun hav any prob with Digi when i was in my hometown (Perak). But once i go to KL / Selangor to work, then i only realize Digi coverage in KL/Selangor area is quite bad.

Since Celcom is the 1st telco to get S3, wondering Celcom will come out with some nice bundle plan or not. Might jump ship to Celcom if the data plan is attracting. smile.gif

I was on Maxis prepaid when I was still using a dumb phone. A call to Perak set me back RM1.20 per minute. The worst thing they even charged me for unanswered calls vmad.gif

Actually it's shinny but since it's white you can't really see it like any dark colour. But your fingerprint also hard to see :-)

Actually it depends on telco itself. On GNote event, Celcom sell the phone without contract or plan. Just need to buy their prepaid card only.

I got white GNote and white S2 where both have white earset but both phones and earset still in the same white colour. It's very hard to turn to yellowish colour unless you put it near fire :-))

without light shining = black

with light shining on it = blue


and amoled screen when off have a blue colour tone to it when u put it under light, its not like lcd which is pitch black

btw any specific screen test for amoled screens ? other than dead pixel of course

because i watch on youtube, amoled screen got blue tint problem as well. similar to yellow tint prob on lcd screen

scratch resistant only, not scratch proof

even 1X's body also can scratch ..many youtube videos show the drop test and result from the drop..the only thing is the cover still the same colour as the body instead of white scratches...but i will still use the back cover or case to protect it ... tongue.gif

A bit blueish is not a problem on Amoled. Yellowish is a problem. Try to avoid buying a yellowish (warm) S3. Go for a blueish (cold) one.

u must have a lot of patience in applying it. otherwise it will look very ugly

tried it before last time on my iphone 3gs.


its like applying screen protector but on whole phone, and its wet based

Yes you are right, i brought it for my Note, fortunately the battery cover is removable so i just appy it under running water tap with little soak, few days later look nice. drool.gif

Ya..my bad didn't see the link at the bottom. But you pict quite misleading as it shows 2 1/2 hours of screen on time while there got paragraph stated it can play 5 - 6 hours of gaming. Meaning we can get atleast 5 - 6 hours total screen on time that put S3 on par with GNote.
That's good actually for stock roms. With custom roms plus tweaking then i'm sure we can get more than 6 hours :-))

The screen is better than GNex as there is barely any visible bandings on grey colour.

Time to send my phone in for warranty claim. Maybe Sammy improved pentile screen and fixed this problem.

EDIT: homescreen scrolling is a bit laggy if Photo Wall LW is used. So quad core is not God yet. lol.

I'm testing an S3 right now. Claim warranty is for my GNex as the screen has serious banding issue on grey tone.

The option is probably there in the firmware, but I'd doubt that there's an LTE radio in it.

Sorry ya, don't think I'll be doing any review. Though I'll put in some of my thoughts on stuff that I find, different from S1 (or maybe S2). Don't want to spoil the surprises for you all. biggrin.gif

Samsung Keyboard now comes with "Swype" feature. Swype no longer come pre-installed into the phone. It's a bit different from original Swype as it only activates in plain textbox (search box can't work, as tested in Google Play search textbox).

But FM Radio is confirmed though. lol.

Stock FM sounds so much better than SGS stock FM. Similar after SGS patched with VoodooSound.

Harddisk, can you make demo for user manual page 27 and 30? It about:
- pan to move
- pan to browse
- lock or unlock screen

All are by motions. Search in youtube still no demo found.
