Fortunately, Smart Stay works with eye-patch as well, else Nick would be really furious.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 22 2012, 10:36 PM) that is from s3 or other phone? From S3. if other phone its because samsung updated the app recently and it blocked other phone from using it It could be due to our beloved Telekom cause was on Unifi. Added on May 22, 2012, 11:44 pm QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 22 2012, 10:42 PM) in conclusion, the s3 screen is still good but the best screen for the market currently still belongs to HOX The screen is better than GNex as there is barely any visible bandings on grey colour.Time to send my phone in for warranty claim. Maybe Sammy improved pentile screen and fixed this problem. EDIT: homescreen scrolling is a bit laggy if Photo Wall LW is used. So quad core is not God yet. lol. QUOTE(firstknight @ May 23 2012, 12:12 AM) wow so nice get to test.. need more of review... Sorry ya, don't think I'll be doing any review. Though I'll put in some of my thoughts on stuff that I find, different from S1 (or maybe S2). Don't want to spoil the surprises for you all. Added on May 23, 2012, 12:13 amhey.. we should sit down together and test the phone.. Samsung Keyboard now comes with "Swype" feature. Swype no longer come pre-installed into the phone. It's a bit different from original Swype as it only activates in plain textbox (search box can't work, as tested in Google Play search textbox). QUOTE(bestofel @ May 23 2012, 12:17 AM) Only can have it for <24 hours and tomorrow gotta work. Probably can't spend much time with it. Added on May 23, 2012, 12:34 am QUOTE(Hikari0307 @ May 23 2012, 12:19 AM) But FM Radio is confirmed though. lol.Stock FM sounds so much better than SGS stock FM. Similar after SGS patched with VoodooSound. WM audio chip. This post has been edited by Harddisk: May 23 2012, 12:34 AM |

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 23 2012, 12:34 AM) so your conclusion. is it a good phone to upgrade from s2? For my own requirements and usage, from what I have read online and brief hands-on. I'd say that, this is a phone that I would not bother to flash custom ROM. These are the things that would stop me from doing so.take S out of the question because it definitely worth to upgrade from S 1) battery % display (this is the 1st thing I'd go for. Root to flash, but seeing that Kitchen doesn't support 720p resolution, one can only resort to custom ROM, as witnessed in GNex) 2) working FM radio, nuff said. 3) Android Beam on Steroid (hence S-Beam). No need further explanation on this, together with working Wifi Direct. 4) Smart Stay. You never know how useful this is until you actually have it. I'm avid Google Reader user, this helps damnnnn a lot. 5) Various vibration rhythms. Back when the day of Nokia! Not sure if AOSP can bring this on, or just not important enough. This is for gamers only. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « That's all for now. EDIT: Sorry guys, bad news... no Mass Storage, MTP/PTP only. I'm sure there will be hack to mount it as Mass Storage. This post has been edited by Harddisk: May 23 2012, 01:17 AM |

QUOTE(bestofel @ May 23 2012, 12:40 AM) Harddisk, can you make demo for user manual page 27 and 30? It about: Sorry la bro, I don't have 3rd hand to hold my camera. - pan to move - pan to browse - lock or unlock screen All are by motions. Search in youtube still no demo found. Thankss. I have tested the camera activation one, but the wait was... about 2 seconds. As for those stated above, don't think I'll use them. |

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 23 2012, 01:07 AM) Stick for a while first. The transition looks nice from home -> app drawer -> home. Maybe 5 minutes? There are some other stuff to change, the ugly SMS app. As for GPS, will give it a shot, but no guarantee I'll remember though. Luckily my other SIM card is micro-SIM ready. SIM slot has ejection spring like SD card's slot. EDIT: managed to lock GPS in less than 1min, connected to my wifi with 3g on. I was inside my room though. Not sure if that counts to anything or not. Compass direction still haywire. Is that Google Maps' problem? lol. This post has been edited by Harddisk: May 23 2012, 01:28 AM |

Just to share with you nice peeps here. I have yet to see complete upload made by anyone so far. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(game4life @ May 23 2012, 01:34 AM) Can't find that in the Settings menu. It's very very similar to original ICS settings menu already, except "Stay Awake" has been hidden and as of right now (DXLE4), the screen doesn't go sleeping when I have PC USB connected. Will try a few more rounds to confirm if it was PC USB that kept the screen awake. I swear the screen went off earlier when I was charging using adapter (without SIM).This post has been edited by Harddisk: May 23 2012, 01:41 AM |

QUOTE(silentser @ May 23 2012, 01:38 AM) the only problem i see so far, you cant drag something that is not consider as multimedia such as .apk. you have to rename it to .mp3 then drag it, and rename it back in the phone This is quite a pain, if you are into backing up the phone and flashing ROM's. Added on May 23, 2012, 1:42 am QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 23 2012, 01:40 AM) It reminds me of Bubble Bobble. You all should pay some attention to Auto haptic. It's per application control, but the app has to support it. Sammy is opening new room to Android again with this feature. This post has been edited by Harddisk: May 23 2012, 01:43 AM |

Samsung Keyboard's swipe feature has to go side by side with predictive input. Can't disable predictive while retaining swipe function, like on Swype.

Test track recording using My Tracks.
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=...add19d6a2992d20 EDIT: not excellent, but it's 1 of the best track recorded using solely phone's built-in GPS/GLONASS. Can't compare with iPad's though, I think those are excellent. This post has been edited by Harddisk: May 23 2012, 02:58 PM |

QUOTE(llk @ May 23 2012, 04:07 PM) Since the source said S3 GT-9300X will only available in Asian market therefore i foresee the custom roms will be very limited or close to none, hence we better grab the GT-9300 model before last stock as happened in S2. Pray that you don't need to flash custom ROM, and for what the variants are worth, they are stable in each variant. No bullshit like I9100G where taking few shots and camera driver crash. Can only fix with reboot. |

Some stuff to share for today.
Delay in home button. I think this is obvious from all the review videos on production unit. Gotta wait for next firmware update perhaps? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Benchmark score, probably irrelevant. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « People that uses Lotus Notes Traveler, sorry to say, Email app/client in TW4.0 just sucks. Unlike original ICS Email app. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « A couple of pano shots. Pano stitching is impressive. It completes in around 2-3 seconds. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 24 2012, 12:18 AM) Yup, or prototype. Not sure if that firmware is production or not, most likely yet, cause quite stable already.Added on May 24, 2012, 1:12 am QUOTE(XeactorZ @ May 24 2012, 12:20 AM) Picasa viewer can rotate the image automatically. Added on May 24, 2012, 1:14 am QUOTE(firstknight @ May 24 2012, 12:39 AM) Phone not handsome cause pre-production unit.Production unit is pending the return of this unit. So have to wait. But the time, I think here started selling already. This post has been edited by Harddisk: May 24 2012, 01:14 AM |
