I think one of the reason is that you may not engage your core muscles (abs).. many ppl thought your leg must constantly kicking so that it won't sink, but that's half.
Engage your abs all the time to straighten your body posture, and keep your hips high. We don't just kick with legs, it often starts from our hips... and butterfly it may start all the way from chest (f not mistaken), and hips definitely. So don't forget to engage your abs and hips! My thought only la, i'm not a coach, and I have been swimming only for 2 months, but able to do all the strokes. Somemore I may have mild asthma or near to asthma, but I don't have asthma! QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ Jun 28 2018, 11:48 AM) Help! I need advice. I have been learning for swimming for more than 6 months. I know how to swim breaststroke (not very good, docy leg part got problem) and freestyle. But my coach told me that my body is very stiff and the bottom half of my body is sinking downward. Hence making me keep on like trying to float out and grasping for air. I am do gym and train karate on weekday and swimming on weekend. Is this the reason why my body is stiff and caused my bottom half to sink downward? Other than that, I also find that my stamina aka breath is not that good, very fast run out of air... Need advice. Thank you |

For core muscles engage, there is one trick can do - extend your armpit move forward, not extend your hand move forward. Try it out, Let me try to google and see what does engage my core muscles means. Sorry that I don't really get it..in this context. Still thank you |

I have been there last year, the entrance was around RM5-6 if I remember correctly, the pool is clean, huge and deep, locker you have to pay extra for it not sure about the price though. My only complain is the shower/changing room is seriously run down, no door or curtain and the showerhead is as simple as merely connecting a waterpipe from somewhere. There is rumour that weird people are lurking around the shower room.Chinwoo is my first ever swim place since I'm a kid, over there got a lot of good & bad memories.Ā This post has been edited by Vincentccw: Sep 6 2018, 10:34 AM |

Not sure about the lockers. I have visited some swim places, for me the shower as long clean and got water coming out it's fine. Haha |

QUOTE(ChipZ @ Sep 12 2018, 05:06 PM) how deep is it?? if it is a shallow pool, I would say it is very good for drills training. Actually for drills training is no need big pool, all are on focus point. Example for freestyle swimming: Example focus point: Head position / arm recovery / body rotation / kicking.... You can do 4 x 20m = Focus on head position, then rest 5 - 10 secs to recheck the sensation, then continue again do 3 set & link it with 4 x 20m full swim at last. I would suggest each time maximum only focus on two point, wish you happy swimming. |

Now on business trip, the hotel only has a 20m pool, and it would be hard to achieve similar distance with lots of kicking off the walls. Guess drill is good, but still clocking the distance in such a small pool is hard.Example for freestyle swimming: Example focus point: Head position / arm recovery / body rotation / kicking.... Guess drill is good, but still clocking the distance in such a small pool is hard. My daily mileage is around 1.6-2.2k depending on how much I get done in the (40-50 mins) morning before work and I also get very cranky on my work trips with crappy short hotel pools. If it's rectangular it's a bonus - the worst are those novelty pools shaped like a figure 8...Having said that if you're doing that type of mileage, you should have a good idea of your pace zones and you should be able to swim according to your perceived exertion. So just swim based on feel - your pace/100m is not going to be terribly useful so just use it to keep your fitness up. |

Not sure if this is the place to ask this.
Any idea where I could find waterproof transparent case/bag to store my key + access card + phone (if can) which I could safely keep in my beach pant's pocket during swimming session. I'm always wary about leaving my access card on the bench while swimming, though it was concealed with a towel, but a quick 1/2 second swoop, it would be gone and I'd be still underwater. Any suggestions? PS: Aside from that, if I could bring the phone in, maybe I could try the swimming tracking app. Wonder if it works. |
