Well the "i want KD out" brigade won. Now will they support the new manager, if its Martinez?
I may speak too soon, but KD > Martinez, anytime, any day. |

QUOTE(madmoz @ May 18 2012, 10:25 AM) well, if they feel their need to act like some of our local politicians, shoot without thinking.just dont support the station. those irritating DJs think they are cute. Coincidentally last night we were just talking with some veteran DJs about how low current radio DJs these days to attract juvie response & silly continued lame pranks, condescending lame jokes to up their popularity. Ever since I've discovered BFM 89.9, I stopped listening to other stations.
Better programs, better music (Admittedly, I'm a classic rock fan), better DJs and while their football programs aren't perfect, they are very listenable. |

It's pretty naive that some of our fans who wanted Kenny out, would expect replacements with the calibre of Guadiorla or Morinho. Now that the chances of Martinez getting the Anfield managerial role are very high, I wonder the want-Kenny-out gang will be sorry fo what they wish for.

'Kenny will always be my idol' Steven Gerrard today thanked Kenny Dalglish for having such a major influence on his career - and then vowed to do all he can to help inspire a successful new era at Liverpool Football Club. Gerrard admits he was saddened to learn of Dalglish's departure on Wednesday afternoon, but he is now keen to play his part in ensuring the progress made under the Scotsman over the past eighteen months is built on under a new manager over the coming years. "The last 24 hours has been a rollercoaster for me," said the Anfield skipper. "I am very sad to see Kenny leave our club. He is my idol and will always be my idol and I would like to express my thanks and appreciation for what he has done for my career. "My focus now is on doing my best for England in the European Championships and then returning to Liverpool for a new season where we will look to build on the progress of the last 18 months and be competitive at the business end of the Premier League." |

From RAWK
QUOTE Quote from: mikey_LFC on Yesterday at 10:35:44 PM What has the world come to? Kenny Dalglish sacked by LFC. Just pause for a second a read this, the title of the thread. How has society sunk so low, where something like this occurs and people don't even take so much as a second glance. The man who has been Liverpool through and through since he joined almost 35 years ago. The man who became the legend, the legend who became the manager, the manager who became the King. A living Legend if there ever was one. Kenny Dalglish who played 322 games and scored 167 goals for the club. The greatest footballer to ever wear the red of Liverpool. The winner of 9 League Championships and 3 European Cups. The man who unified the city of Liverpool through it's darkest days, setting an example that can not be underestimated when it was needed most. The King who returned to steady the club when in steep decline. This is the man, Legend, King that has been sacked. King Kenny sacked by the club he loves, the club which he has dedicated his life to. Sacked in a season when he reached two cup finals, returned the Liverpool to Wembley for the first time in 17 years, and won the League Cup, which made him one of only a handful of people to have managed a club to winning every domestic trophy in England. A season where Liverpool returned to Europe and provided some great memories along the way. Doing the double of Everton, beating Chelsea three times, including twice at Stamford Bridge, those hat-tricks from Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez, the trips to Wembley, the first trophy in almost 6 years, and some great football, some great interviews, and those Kenny celebrations with that smile, a smile which lit up Anfield every time we scored. Sure we had some bad results and a few bad performances, but we were so close to some great performances, a post away from wins, a few penalty misses away from a better season, a couple of refereeing decisions away from being higher in the league or winners in the FA cup. It's very easy to look at a results table and forget about all those near misses and good performances without the finishing touch. It's even easier to forget how bad we were the season before, and how much our performances had improved under King Kenny. Sure we were 37 points behind the champions, but in terms of how much more we needed to be a lot higher up the table, how much more did we really need, one striker, one midfielder, maybe one defender. I would suggest we were only a few players from the top 4 and, a couple of lucky breaks from challenging for the title. Were we really going backwards? Were we really so far away that we needed to start again? Did we really need to reshape the club from top to bottom? Was the season really that poor that we needed to sack the Legend that had done so much for the club? The simple answer is no. You may try and excuse the actions of Fenway Sports Group, maybe you'll say 'They deserve the benefit of the doubt' or the 'No one person is bigger than the club' line. Sure maybe they do deserve time to reshape the club and of course nobody is bigger than the club. However total wholesale changes weren't needed, and even if he isn't bigger than the club, that does not hide the fact he deserves better than this. The man as done so much throughout his life for this club, does he really deserve just 16 months to turn the club around, does he really not deserve more respect from everyone than he is getting. The lack of respect shown to him from some fans, sections of the media and from the owners is truly saddening. Maybe this is what the world has become. A world free from respect, a world free from sentimentality, a ruthless world where past achievements and actions count for nothing. I'm probably just being old-fashioned in feeling that Kenny Dalglish deserved better from Liverpool football club than for things to end up like this, after everything he's done, for him to get sacked. It is probably just weak of me to believe the class and greatness the man has shown towards the club and towards it's tradition deserved better and more time than this, after all we did miss out on the glorious heights of fourth place this season. For all I know, the strategy taken by our owners may lead to Champions League and Premiership success. It may lead us to dominate world football for the next few decades. But there is a way of achieving success, a dignified way with which you can keep your moral integrity. Again it's probably just me but personally success by any means possible does not sit well, and taking the view that the end justifies the means just seems plain wrong. This might be the modern world, this might be modern football, and if we don't change our ways we maybe left behind. Maybe this is what the world has come to, but ask yourself is achieving success through these new ways really what you want. Do you really want to win trophies by any means possible? Or would you rather we kept our dignity, kept our integrity and went about things in a way which Liverpool Football Club, with all its history and tradition, deserves? I don't know about everyone else but if success at any cost is what the world has come to, I'm not sure I want to live in that world. |

The only thing I'm afraid of when we go for a young manager is that he couldn't cope with the pressure in Liverpool. We all know expectations from the board and fans are high & how stressful it is even for a manager like Dalglish.

Well, there's a half-scouse half Spanish manager who's living at Merseyside, jobless and waiting for a call. |
