Guys correct me, Sierraglow is purely to retain that factory paintwork shine? Does it protect the paintwork from scratch?
Do they provide guarantee on shine retention period?

Also read the test drive review of the new Ford Focus here http://www.kensomuse.com/the-new-ford-focu...ied-and-tested/.

One of the car that falls under my radar is this Ford Focus but decided to go for 408 as I foresee that the price will not fall within my budget. The spec is impressive (especially on the safety features) but most of the goodies such as Active City Stop, Blind Spot Information System and most importantly for me, cruise control, is only available on Plus variant. Even some of the features which are available on 408 2.0 such as auto headlamp and wiper is not being made available on standard spec.

From the estimated selling price of this Focus, I would say I'm satisfied with my choice eventhough the design of this Focus makes meĀ  drool.gif

The Focus is absolutely a great car with excellent handling. Saw it 1st in OZ. must say it's a very pretty car. However it's rather compact, felt a little tight and clusterfobic on the drivers side due to the large centre console. Gadget guys will love this panel. Not much back seat space too. Waited 7 months and when Sime Darby dropped the TDCI for Malaysia,I lost interest. Ladies will love this car for it's size and compactness.
Between the 408t and FF TDCI ( if it had come to Malaysia ) it would have been a very hard choice for me.
Always wanted a turbo deisel, but the FF is too compact. Our Prince 1.6t puts out decent power( no comparison to the TDCIs torque), but the interior is spacious and comfortable. In a way glad the FF TDCI is absent in Malaysia, was able to make my choice!

Do they provide any guarantee and how long the shine retention?

Coating is a layer on top of ur factory paint, it provide shinny glossy effect and slightly minimum protection of the paint from direct sun light/ bird shit/ or dirt. It doesnt protect your paint from scratch. The coating glossy should last for a minimum of one year.

I did not send my car for coating. However, I DYI the coating on my car. Heard the product PERMANON?

If you send to other workshop for paint, there's highly chance to have 2 tones of colors on your car. Ofcoz it's more expensive to repaint it at Peugeot.

yup 6 months. 3months are for normal mineral engine oil. smile.gif

Actually mineral oil is supposed to be changed at 5000 KM or 6 months whichever comes first
semi synthetics should be changed at around 7500 km if you take synthetic up to 10 K km
Mercedes reccomends 15000 KM for fully synthetic but most people prefer the 10k mileage for fully synthetic
The new Volvos with special oil and extra long lasting filters on the new s 60 T5 are supposed to be changed only at 20K km....sounds very interesting but worrying

If peugeot says 10K km for semi synthetic would be a little worrying, especially since the turbo sleeve bearings are using the same oil, so I'll probably use flly synthetic at the first oil change at 2500km and let that run for 10K km, Just my own preference, since the climate here is hardly European, and oil tends to degrade faster in hot climates

I do not agree.
Most of the franchise repairer sub out their body and paint work to 3rd part contractors. Possibility of higher chance to have 2 tones of colours? Ask yourself.

Franchise are good with their mechanical works, body & paint? I doubt so. Its unfair to have double standard in this.

For paint work, if you willing to pay, I believe body & paint will surely use good material on the car. The 2 tones of the colour is determined by the colour mixing person, not the workshop.

I'm handling normal workshop and franchise body & paint, u take my words for that.

The scratch will be dependent on how you take care of your car (ie: use microfiber cloth to wash your car) and could be unavoidable sometimes. But Sierraglow have 5 years warranty against any oxidation on paintworks. So somehow, it should still have the shiny effect even after few years but I doubt it will be as equal as when you've bought it and I doubt that any coating product would warrant on something that's hard to gauge (ie: shine).

Anyway, I've known about the DIY coating but figure out that it would be simillar in cost and quality and with 5 years warranty, I take my chance with Sierraglow. But after reading about PERMANON, I think it's fairly cheap and seems easy to apply.

Tks for the info bro. I will try PERMANON as my car is always in the shade, office or home. To run around or the market,we take my wife's Myvi, find it much easier to chuck around and especially park at supermarkets. Is it essential to PERMOMON right away!

408 is quite deceiving in size. Didn't think it was that big or that long untill I was parking at Giant.

I would agree here. I've done touch ups on my other cars form paint shops. Some of these paint shop guys are very good. Hardly any difference in tone and very reasonable price.

It will be much easier to deal with the paint shops than with franchise holders,if there was dispute. For this reason I'd keep away from Franchise for paint work touch ups.

Ok, I got my words back and I agreed with the statement. Think I was the unlucky one that I got 2 tones of colors last time at outside workshop.

Actually what you say is true also, not every paint shop does a good job! It's a matter of knowing the right one.
