While it is probably fair to assume that the crowd looking at a 308 Turbo is likely to put cornering prowess above comfort in their list of priorities, but the fact is that the Focus sacrificed a lot less comfort than the 308 to achieve similar levels of handling levels.

308 is never a smooth car to begin with, engine feels very 'mechanical' and suspension is bumpy, not as bumpy as those modified suspension using hard springs and absorbers...but still..bumpy

btw. my fren tell me 308 is still consider cbu france but 408 cbu china.

the SA sales talk 408 ckd gurun and import part from france is bull shit?
*
I'm sure it's CKD Gurun but most of the parts are made in China but some are from France (this I'm not exactly sure of).

Anyway, I've started admiring Ford right after I had my driving license as my mother was driving a Ford TX3. My admiration wasn't because I've driven it, but rather because I was forbidden to drive it, or any car at that time. I never exactly keep sight of Peugeot's car before this (apart of 407) but Ford Focus manage to make me drool everytime it came on sight (which is rare) though I've never driven any Ford. drool.gif

Also, could any 4-speeder 408 owner could comment on how the gearbox behave? I find mine quite smooth when normal pace is kept. But when traffic is heavy meaning that the transmisison has to be on 1st gear for quite some time, the shift from 1st to 2nd gear is not that smooth. Any 4-speeder out there experience this?

Most people and certainly the write has not realised, French cars are not 'ignition on and go types'. There are many peculiar features one has to familiar with before firing up. The writer did not take the few minutes to learn any thing about the car. This is very clear in his statement of the 308 being a frigidity car to drive. In the absence of comprehension, confusion sets in over simple controls!

On the twisted track he claims the Focus easier to handle due to it's lighter feel of the steering wheel. Powered steerings are inherently light due to the use of hydraulics as the muscle power. However there is a real danger of loss of feel. This may even lead to over steer situations. One has only visual senses to direct the car if adequate feel is absent. Peugeot has raised the bar in steering feel. The steering has sufficient taught ness to provide the right feel. This is misunderstood by the write as heavy steering and therefore unsmooth on twisted track. However he does admit the Focus steering lacks weight.

Ford Focus is no doubt a very good car.

My conclusion: Writer lacks experience, needs to educate himself!

I realize my car hit 5.5k rpm in order to change to next gear when I over taking other car. If not mistaken, it should be from gear 2 to 3. Its just normal D mode and is that normal?

Migrated from a 2004 1.8G Altis to a 408T for the last one month.
Boy what a joy to drive! Then again a few issues for a new car:
1. Rattling sound coming from left rear side when drive over small repetitive undulations. Dunno is it the door?
2. The engine does sound harsher
3. Road and environment noise penetrates the cabin quite easily

But then again, the drive experience and the ride quality... AWESOME!!!

Guys, how do I update the owner's list?

for you guys that are facing the rattling sound you can bring it in during the 2500km service and complain abt it.......i did so and so far its not there anymore after i got it back from the service center......my rattling sound was from the back of the car......

I think the aircond is cold but provided it needs some warmup period especially on a hot weather......

Opps.. sry my mistake. China DongFeng carried 1.6L & 2.0L engine initially. And Argentina launched additional 1.6T so call Sport right after that.
