I run into this thread, and I would say your experiences will probably dissuade lots of lay person from buying a Asus laptop  tongue.gif
However I also sense that a lot of you actually like the Asus design / pricing, and will embrace Asus again should its warranty services get back to "reasonable" level  whistling.gif

There were some interesting ideas, i.e. facebook, complaint with Taiwan HQ ... Generally I don't think this will be effective.
To get thing moving, you need to publicise it. Example: the Foxconn labour issue. It has been there for a long time, but by having major news agency carrying the news by linking it with Apple iPhone, that's a stroke of campaign genius.

My suggestion:
Hit it where it will hurt. Asus laptops are being reviewed all over the internet. Most of the time, there are rated quite favourably. A lot of potential buyers all over the world read these reviews.
What you need to do is to consistent post on the user forum of these review site, to highlight your issue smile.gif
Some of the review site I could think off: notebookcheck, notebookreview, anandtech, tomshardware ... I believe you could come up with many more.

Organise: You could split up and assign a site to maybe 2 or 3 victims here.
Action: Post a comment on user forum, whenever a new model of Asus laptop is being reviewed. There should be plenty of opportunities.
Objective: Paint a doubt in potential buyers all over the world on Asus warranty services. That's it. Just "doubt".
Duration: Execute this plan consistently over a period of say 1 year. You could review the effectiveness from time to time, by sharing the number / type / general response from readers from these sites.
Message: Be consistent, Be rational, Be factual, Don't be angry, Don't hyper-bole. My suggestion is that the 1st post is a standard draft. You just copy and paste smile.gif

Feel free to amend the below draft. Just come up with something that you are comfortable with:

"We would like to share our bad experiences dealing with Asus warranty services in Malaysia.
Examples include:
Asus service centre take more than xxx months to repair xxx.
Asus take more than xxx years to refund .... (Quote concrete examples) ...
(Post links to threads).

This type of bad warranty services has been on-going for xxx years, with numerious complaints posted to Asus Malaysia, Asus Taiwan HQ ...., Asus is just paying lip service and giving empty promise, and there has been no improvement in service level at all over the years.
Our expression of grievance on Asus facebook (and other social media) site, on the other hand, has always been deleted with utmost diligence and urgency.

Buyer Bewares and Good Luck."

Oh, I am not working in IT sector  icon_rolleyes.gif

Agree with you. Asus does make really nice laptops with great specs, but their customer service could do with a lot of improving. It looks like some of them are good & if you were lucky enough to get a good technician to do the repairs, you'd get your laptop back in working condition. However, it seems that some of the technicians there are also louse, so, if your laptop ended up with them, susah.
For complaints, perhaps apart from complaining at their website, we could also complain at NCCC

http://www.nccc.org.my/v2/index.php/guide-to-complaint

According to them, an angry consumer is a good consumer.

From what I've seen, I believe that Asus would not escalate complaints to the upper management unless it reaches a certain number of complain. I could be wrong though.

At 14/08/2012, I have requested a warranty service through Malaysia-kuala lumpur Asus service centre.

The problems are HDMI port not working, USB3 port not working and System recovery corrupted in hard drive.

I waited for approximately 1 month (ready @15/09/2012) for this service to be done which is fine as i understand spare parts was needed and due to some public holidays as well. They told me reason to wait so long because need to change motherboard and the motherboard is all the way from Taiwan.

However, when I got back and I noticed that the HDMI port is total is totally not working at all, I leave it as it as I need the laptop to work on assignments.

Until 9/10/10, i tried to do a system recovery just to see whether this fix the HDMI port issue or not, unfortunately that the service center has installed G73 system recovery data instead of G53S system recovery data. After the recovery, all drivers are missing and i have to reinstall the drivers from Asus website.

On 11/10/2012, I went back to the service center and request another service for fixing the HDMI port and wrong version of system recovery data issues. Guess what? I was told by the customer service that they didnt change the motherboard on previous service, just the hard disk only, i was like WTF.

Now the latest status is waiting spare parts which is motherboard and worse is that I was told that they have to get manufacturer to built the motherboard as g53s is a discontinued product, they no longer have stock for replacement and which I dont know how long I have to wait again.

I am very disappointed with this, why can't all the problems be fixed on the first warranty service I requested, won't Asus technician check completely make sure everything is working before asking me to pick up the laptop. Sending in another time for warranty service just to fix the previous problems is unacceptable. I need the laptop to work on assignments and now I got nothing to work with.

If I have the spare money, I will buy a dell laptop straight away now.
Totally huge Dissapointment from Asus after supporting them so long.

Why cry? If your product is valid they're still valid. Service centre just relocated, not went down or anything.

Was thinking to extend my warranty for my laptop, however with recent service experience, it's not worth it.

Last yr when i claimed warranty for my laptop, i was told by the regional manager in my place that the service team is outsourced with contract period... They only need to submit service report to the Asus Msia HQ..and many report are just been 'corrected' to be perfect and nth wrong...but i think their HQ also like close one eyes type..impossible they does not hear any complain...

Who are the ASUS notebook distributors? I need to go over the head of my reseller as he's yet to respond for over a month after me handing over the ASUS centre's Credit Note to him. Now around 4 months waiting (including waiting for ASUS Service Centre).
