QUOTE(Mavik @ Dec 28 2005, 12:36 PM) Mistakes Made During the Interview:[/color] So i should tell the interviewer NO even if i did apply for another job of the same industry?1. This happened during my interview with a semiconductor company based outside of KL. They asked if I applied to other companies based in KL and they asked if I were offered a job in KL would I take it. Being my first interview and being naive and honest, I said yes. Thanks to that I didn't get the job. |

If you are applying jobs from different locations, it's best to say No.
If you say Yes, it gives the idea that you have other options if you don't get this job. OR you may jump to other company within a short period. |

QUOTE(normaldude @ Apr 9 2006, 02:45 AM) Alternatively, you could just tell them you are getting 3k but you want 4k. Most likely you will not get the 4k offer. If they offered you 3.5k, you would most proabaly take it. Unless you are brave enough to say no, you won't take it and they are desperate enough in getting you at all cost. If they offer 3.5K is it nice tol "bargain" with the interviewer? e.g 3.6K, 3.7K |

No. Please do not do that. By doing that, it is like dealing with traders in wet market.

QUOTE(babymiki @ Dec 5 2006, 10:14 AM) There can be two different scenarios when they ask you that question:1) The company wants to know if their competitor is eyeing you 2) You may have other prospects outside My friend went for interview with both KPMG and EY. Told both of them that he had interviews with their competitor and ended both offering him. |

You could ask any question regarding their field of work during your 1st interview. You don't have to wait for the second one to ask those questions. |

I would usually send them a thank you email (to everyone who have interviewed me) and about the follow up, I'll usually do it after a week or two by calling them up and ask. how to write a formal email?? ask them did my application successful? or bla bla? QUOTE(ronaldoo @ Dec 8 2006, 12:20 AM) For my first interview, I would bring all my certs and relevant documents. They might not need it, but when they need it and you have it, this will make a good impression.Also, I made a portfolio of myself and put in the relevant bits I need for my job, like my final year report, the previous projects I did and etc. |

QUOTE(ronaldoo @ Dec 8 2006, 12:20 AM) Basically usually most 1st interviews, they would ask me to bring my original copies of my certificates so that they can verify the photocopy versions I am giving to them. Usually bringing certificates will not guarantee your success but having a 2nd interview is already a good sign. For those of you going for your first interview, do read the article on what to bring or not. Saves the HR person a lot of hassle and trying to get all your relevant documents. Most of the time, your resume and results will be passed to the interviewer who will then base their interview questions on what they can see in your resume. |

Good day to everyone,
I have some question about how & what should put in the clear holder. In summary, the order I arrange my clear holder are Resume -> Testimonial -> Uni's academic results -> Secondary sch academic results -> Secondary sch extra curriculum's certificates-> Uni's extra curriculum's certificates but few weeks ago, I went for an interview. The interviewer only take a glance at the Resume & Uni's academic result. She didn't look at the rest. My questions are What is the most suitable order to put those certificates in clear holder? Usually, what are the interviewer looking for in the clear holder? thank you in advance |

Try to arrange this order;
Resume -> Testimonial -> Uni's academic results -> Uni's extra curriculum's certificates -> Secondary sch academic results -> Secondary sch extra curriculum's certificates Always put the recent ones first. They are more interested in your uni academic year rather than what you did during PMR year As for the last question, they probably looking at your profile/results/co-curriculum and compare it with what you stated in your resume (the one you sent to them earlier). Some might talk crap in their resumes but have nothing to prove.. This post has been edited by goliath: Dec 12 2006, 12:06 PM |

Don't forget to include in your past working experiences as well even though it was an internship or a part time job.

According to the information I got from this thread, so it is not suitable for anyone (males) to wear a suit to attend an interview, even if you are applying for a position such as a business professional (eg. investment banker)?

Basically the best way you can find out is to ask the HR person who contacted you. Even certain business professionals do not wear suits to work or managers also do not wear suits to work. You might be a little overdress. Again, this rule is not a hard rule, depends on the situation. Malaysia is relatively hot so wearing a suit is not our culture here. |
