Here i would like to open up this thread for all KEF sound system owners to come in to share/discuss your experiences and also perhaps this would be a thread where all those who are looking forward to plunge into KEF system can get some info or advice from current owners.
I recently purchased my KEF Q300 & Q200c for my HT setup and is definitely worth every penny i had paid for.so here are some photos to share on these beautiful babes in the house.Cheers

I paid RM2350 for Q300 and RM1770 Q200c cause i'm from Sarawak. Price may be diff compare to west Malaysia.

which part of Swak? I'm too. The Q300 can get RM2.1 in certain place..

about biwire cable is it 2 cable plug (black and white) to AVR and 4 cable plug (2xblack and 2xwhite) to speaker right?

100% correct!.. bi-amping better! I had mine Q700 bi-amp and Q600c biwire. My amp don't have Bi-Amp centre so !!

Mine Q700+Q600C = 6.8k, you got RM100 cheaper. It deliver to door.

I used Belden 1311A @ 12 Gauge, order from this forum as well. They said it is more pure copper and high quality. Is copper type so less brightness compare to silver with KEF speaker.

What amp you are using?

Agree wif u,pure copper cable is more on warmer side.
Im using Onkyo 609 wif Audioquest CV4 bi-wire.

At what position you use for your Q500?

I'm using Rythmik Subwoofer F15HP with 600 RMS, got it 5.3k.. very powerful and punching, it is seal sub so the bass was very tight and fast, really give big different in watching movies, real steel, Iron man2 etc.. wow very good in listen to music too...

How you feel on Q700 bass? What HI-FI said is muddy? do you feel that, I didn't feel it...

Hey BOTBOTCHAI, you also use Rythmik sub to pair with your IQ series? If yes, So far how you find the combo?

The IQ series + Rythmik + REL combination were excellent . I'm thinking to change my AVR cause all my previous AVR were DENON . Feel a bit boring already . I want to try ONKYO.

Actually im upgraded to Q700 instead of my Q500.
According to "WHAT HIFI" stated dat Q700 muddy bass issue,for me is "ngam ngam hor"...haha

Kef = ez to drive even 8 ohms spkrs

Both can partnering very clear & wide sound,but need carefully for cable matching.
I audited few sets of cable b4 as below:
Wireworld Luna 5 Bi Wire,
Chord Silver Screen Bi Wire,
Audioquest CV4 Bi Wire,

Finally,i choose audioquest for more warmer sound.
No regret for these combo set.

Bro,which model of Denon AVR u using?

AVR 1803 , AVR 5700 and AVR 3311 (all DENON) already
Now i consider to buy the ONKYO 3008 / 3009.

cos i told them to install for a 7.1 system.. room size is 26ft X 16ft.. so the cable has to travel a fair bit i suppose?

I only bought a pair?.. initially i thought of a 7.1 system.. but budget don't agree with me.. so stick with 5.1 but made sure the installer will pull the wiring ready for a 7.1 upgrade in the future

Q500 place at rear wil b better than SL & SR.
I can offer u better deal if u looking for any other model KEF spkr or acc in future.

hi all kef q300 owner,

just wondering, which port do u connect at the back of the speaker? is it HF or LF? or mixed(HF- and LF+ or HF+ and LF-)? does it make any different between these 2 port if u just use single AVR?

I am using the bottom 2 ports for a normal +/- termination cable plugs.If your using bi-wiring,then it would make some difference on the sound quality as bi-wiring method will separate the output frequency on it's individual drivers for more detailed sounds.
Also do take note your only using it for 1 AVR,so that Q u asked a bit weird.LOL

thanks mikeyz... actually i'm quite new in this field, this is the 1st speaker i bought with 4 port at the back... i'd seen in the hifi shop which i bought the q300, they connect it to hf port, but in the manual indicate lf port for single avr, couldnt find any guide in the net, so that's why i ask it here... forgot to ask the salesguy which one is what...
one more thing, the round sponge that come together, what effect does it really make when we stuffed it inside the speaker front air hole?

anyone with experience on C4 subwoofer? systems consists of bookshelf as main & C6 centre with denon avr. small room 10x16 feet. worth going for Q400b? big price gap though.

How much would a Q400c cost at your place? Most KEF users i know would go for other brands for their subs cause it may give a different bass output and as for your room size, there is a few subs u can consider if your on a budget like Velodyne,Sunfire or Rythmik Audio.
Would advice u go for an audition on different subs to feel which one suite your taste.JMHO.

agree with mikeyz. as a fellow KEF and Denon user myself, if there are no compelling reasons why u need to specifically choose a KEF subwoofer, then i'd suggest you look at some of the "specialist" sub makers out there. you can start by looking at the SVS, Velodyne, Rythmik, etc. I've never been impressed by KEF's subs so far. the subbie can standalone and need not be of the same brand as your other speakers.

a Q400 sub cost around rm2600 and c4 1100 - klang valley price. how does the other sub listed sounds like from your experience? regards

I own a Rythmik F12 sub to pair with my KEF system,Is a sub that i never regret.The sub is well combo with my KEFs and it gives me a good clean and fast bass output. I am sure u will be more on an eye opener once u had the taste of different sub manufactures to test around compared to the Q400, then from there i am confident to say,u will find the sub that suite u for your setup. When it comes to sub,the poison is very very tempting.Beware !!

Yeah, quite tempting between F12 & F15 for my sealed room size L13'xW10'xH10'.
What is your room size for F12?

My room is W 10' x L 20'. I had audition both F12 £ F15, performance would be a significent diff for the F15 , it delivers stronger and tighter LFE.
From your room size a F12 would serve u great but if budget permits, the F15 will give u more headroom experience.

Any1 audition KEF R Series b4?

Look like I am one of the few who uses KEF sub-woofer. So far ok, but maybe due to me not being a Bass freak. Maybe its the wow factor as everything is from KEF.... look nice with only KEF logo on all speakers and woofer......
For me most of the speaker cable and subwoofer interconnect are from Chord... only surround are cheaper Black Rhodium as cannot afford Chord all around... hahaha....
For me I am looking forward to hear KEF Blade hopefully in this coming KLIAV. Think the R series should be there..... If you want to audition, think can look out for Perfect Hi Fi... seen the R Series in their Amcorp Mall outlet.... Did not pop in to listen tho.....

One is enough, try first before need second one, I feel my one can shake the ceiling with 1/2 power only. If you want loudness one get the ported and it power almost double the sealed.

my 2.0 used is kef q300. i bi-amped it. but actually this speaker planning to use for surround later. Once i got to move to own house next year (now renting), i am planning to get myself a q900. Of course before getting the q900, am also planning to change my onkyo 608 to something better, having pioneer lx83 in mind somewhere end year. no money so buy slow2 due to financial limit.

the current sub am having is f15hp. still playing around with the setting though

Latest is lx85 release last year sept. you can get it rm 5k plus from other country..

yeah, am aiming for q900, but not my immediate purchase this year. but the q300 actually perform damn well too. i am impressed with the quality and detail of it when playing music. good for movies too but i am thinking to add the center speaker to enhance the experience

Right u should get q600 for centre since u plan q900 which I had now and watching movies damn good with very loud n clear dialogue except q700 only which I think should go to q900 by extra 1k, but already bought. Now I plan to get another pair for surround maybe q300...

Welcome to Rythmik club Been using for a week?

thanks bro been using it for around 2 weeks already. currently am using 14hz mid damping setting. boss danny advise me to set phase to 180 and crossover 120...but again am using y-splitter to the lfe in, so i think audyssey might be handling things. volume i set to 1 o'clock, rumble filter off as well. level calibration in onkyo is -5db...any additional advice for my setting is greatly appreciated.

the f15hp really blends in with the q300. cant tell where the subwoofer really is. i can feel the difference when switching to pure audio to stereo. recently enjoyed the last part of thor the most. good bass experience.

but i definitely need a center speaker...q600 here me come

nope, i actually place the sub in front of me beside the right speaker. this is due to the short rca cable that i have. beside there are no more space left for the sub at the back

I went to Harvey Norman last week and they have this Cambridge Audio set promo: Amp+5.1 RM5K. I am not sure is this value for money.

Then when I come here, I notice so many of you said that Q700/900 is very good. Then the F15 very good. So I mai try see can fit in my budget or not.

If around 7k budget, u can start off with a 2.1 setup, AVR+ Q300 + F15. Then u upgrade or add on from there.

then the phase setting is wrong. If it is right in front, then 0 deg. 180deg is when you hv your sub at the back of LP.

Q300 is a bookshelf speaker right? I prefer a floorstand speaker. I don't mind to upgrade my budget as long as it's value for money. What I mean is if I spend another 30% more but I can get 50% more quality, I am fine with that.

For the mean time, I will use the HT mainly for astro and some music. Can someone intro a Amp+Q series speakers+Amp for a start? Budget 8k.

For movie,u can go for Pioneer & Onkyo.
For music,juz go for Marantz & Denon.

Package within 8k as below,
Kef Q500 + Q200c + above entry lvl AVR.
