That's the thing. I do not want my oc to be limited. Heavy gaming and maybe a lil of autocad. Offset?
I'm in the process of getting either mpower, extreme 6 or maybe oc formula.

Maximus V Gene is my choice, but due to its expensiveness for me, then I pick the cheaper z77 mpower instead. Z87 chipset is coming soon, do u want to wait for it or in urgent need to build a Z77 system?

If u have a good budget, just get the 3770k, for me 3570k is enough for me to run autocad, catia, solidworks and games...graphics card is important too. Whats ur choice of graphics card?

I highly recommend ASRock OC Formula, it has a strong VRM thus lower vCore, good BIOS support by OC Master Nick Shih, decent voltage accuracy, awesome memory OC and it's not overpriced like Asus ROG.

Regarding how high the 3570K can achieve is depending on what type of cooling you are using (cooling limit). Every chip has different VID hence giving different max clock. From what i see the data gathered from here as well as other forums, generally 3770K consumes less vCore than 3570K, most probably 3770K is a higher binned chip, overclocks better and has lower VID than the 3570K.

Otherwise it could be most 3770K users can afford much better coolers, more expensive because more pocket money to spend biggrin.gif

Actually I'm gonna get the mobo and proc in April or May only. So I'll just wait n see what Intel has to offer. I already have a gfx card which is Asus hd 7970 so that's not a problem anymore.

Regarding mobo, OC Formula really caught my eye. Went through the specs and overview of it.

You better wait for Haswell in June, then wait for IB-E in Q3 2013.

It's still like roll the dice, depending luck to get the good or worse chip. I'm happy with my 3570k as it does pretty well for me.

Indeed, it's all about lottery of luck. You must buy bunch of chips, then only proceed for binning.

Nothing surprise. Based on my experience, chance of getting a decent chip on single purchase is very small.
But this time I have good luck, as my 2nd chip Made in Malaysia is a great overclocker.

Holly shit! I'm sorry to hear that. I feel you bro losing one beloved stuff is like that.
I had two of my Caviar Black died on me at the same time, there goes all my valuable data. One original data and another one contained backup data cry.gif
To be honest I won't be selling these good chips any time soon, until Haswell comes out in June onwards.
Perhaps after i found a golden Haswell chip then only put these Ivy's on sale. biggrin.gif

Actually a 3rd party chipset cooling is not necessary because the Z77 chipset itself produces so little heat.
It's not a 790FX chipset or anything.

sup folks wave.gif
was wondering, is the i5 VID a fixed value?
I do notice that when im using the vcore offset adjustment, at certain multi the VID vcore upped a bit (at 40x it was 1.3, at 41x it became 1.32..).
Currently im setting it it at VID -0.120 in bios
So by that calc, the vcore on cpuz is a lil off (1.32-0.12!=1.16).
I do know that Sin showed that Asrock ext4 n 6 may not show true voltage at cpuz, so my assumption this relates to that. hmm hmm.gif

setup:
i5 3570k on stock cooler
asrock z77ext4
using hd400 as gpu (being cheap here)
enermax noisetaker 375w psu spare unit from my K8 days tongue.gif

yep, im running on stock cooler just to burn in the parts on open bench, ghetto tongue.gif
hopefully the swiftec h220 will be in stock by end of the month, n to get a decent case as well

this i-x series is so different compared to my prev s939 www

>inb4 WTF??!!111

p/s: i wont be joining the 4.5g elites just yet.
